Nineteen Canteen Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 Oh do shut up you cluess ****ing ponce... Your reply Daren seems to support my theory.
alpine_saint Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 The mistake many made IMO was to judge Lowe as if we were in a healthy situation and critcised him for decisions that in normal times he would not have made Obviously you didnt share business interests with (and therefore have a f**king clue about SFC) Lowe at the time of our relegation from the Premiership then..
JustMike Posted 10 April, 2009 Author Posted 10 April, 2009 Simple really Mike because we were clearly in the realms of the last chance saloon and the normal approach to managing a club was pretty much suspended. The mistake many made IMO was to judge Lowe as if we were in a healthy situation and critcised him for decisions that in normal times he would not have made but in ridiculously difficult times was actually trying to reverse two years of supreme mismanagement with very little latitude financially. Many kicked their club full square in the ****** and that wasn't Lowe and then others pinned their hopes on empty promises of investment that would never materialise whilst the creditors grew impatient. Lowe chose the path I would have done and that is forget personalities or unfounded promises and focus on positive action in an attempt to influence our own survival. Unfortunately he was never going to overcome the simple blind hatred of others. Pitiful state of affairs really, and if the club can't find a buyer of the type FF has alluded to then perhaps its time to call time. Unity at the moment looks impossible. Im sorry 19, but i dont buy this..." JP and Wotte were cheaper than NP" stuff. NP had the dross of last season fighting, believing and fitter than they had been all season. He had the fans behind him too. So why then did Mr Lowe come in and undo all that? Simple, because it wasnt his choice, thats what Lowe has always been about, his way or no way. Im glad he has gone and dont think for a second that whoever else comes in will do a worse job than Lowe. I, like many on here are now geared up for life in L1 and hopefully we can put all this trouble behind us and look forward to brighter times. The likes of which we would not have seen under Lowe.
LGTL Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 And it didn't matter whether they were cheaper or not, we are still in administration. I'd rather be in admin with Pearson in charge though....
alpine_saint Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 And it didn't matter whether they were cheaper or not, we are still in administration. I'd rather be in admin with Pearson in charge though.... Yep, and we could have probably kept Stern, Rasiak and Andrew Davies as well, and been able to take the ten points on the chin with breathing space to spare...
ottery st mary Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 Your reply Daren seems to support my theory. 19 you keep this up and I will not be able to save you when you're stood there alongside Rupert at dawn in front of the firing squad....This will not be any of our strikers as they can't be trusted to shoot straight. Leave well alone and warn the other patients Alain, nick etc.
Weston Super Saint Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 Don't care or lost their heart and motivation? Whatever an employee earns when their firm goes bust it is bound to affect their motivation and many of these players will already have agents out there trying to secure their futures at other clubs. It is just another by product of administration that so many appeared to have wanted and why? To rid the club of Lowe? Looks foolish now in the extreme especially as according to Fry the first question investors are asking is 'are the crowd numbers at the Charlton game sustainable?' Shock horror they must have looked at our attendances over the last few seasons and smell the bs. I will never change my opinion that the stay aways failed to grasp the seriousness of their actions and simply compounded the decisions made by Wilde, Crouch and Lowe. Many have got what they want and now realising like spolit children the consequences of those wishes being granted. Apart that it saddens me deeply as it my club too I have very little sympathy for those who championed administration and/or boycotted the club and are now still looking for people to blame without the use of a mirror. So, basically you're saying the numbers at the Charlton game are sustainable? Surely if you blame the 10,000 fans for ruining our finances, and doing so just to stay away from a club Rupert was running, then this leads nicely to the 10,000 fans returning now he's gone. Unless of course they don't return and you'll convince yourself that they are staying away because of Fry

Mike, I agree with regard to be geared up nor for L1 and sincerely hope we can all put this behind us but whilst we continue to blame the present day situation solely on Lowe, that unity of purpose is never going to happen. We cannot be certain that the new chairman will not do a worse job than Lowe if you believe that you must believe Wilde in hindsight was progress when that is when the slide started along with our value. If there is such a thing I would love to read the transcripts of the conversations between Lowe and Pearson and get an inside understanding of why that decision was made. I was led to believe Pearson was pushing for the retention of Idiakez. Judging by how close we came to relegation would that alledged comment by Pearson 10 months ago make you feel confident in his ability to burn £10k a week on Idiakez? My only belief in Lowe was to turn around everything that had gone wrong the previous two years and therefore willing to buy into his plan based on the fact that we all knew we had no money and things were desperate. The sad thing is without administration and just an extra 2,500 to 5,000 fans we could have achieved survival and under Wotte may have had something to build on in the future and that recent performances can be ignored. Now we hope and if you heard Fry at HT on Solent then he wasn't exactly bullish and clearly most of the requests have been from chancers looking for information.

Alain Perrin Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 Oh for ****s sake when are the Lowe apologists going to stop with the "Oh you are stupid, Lowe can't be blamed for EVERYTHING" defence when anyone blames Lowe?? The man removed Pearson and and set in motion the absolute ****ing shambles that this season has become. Everything bad with club has his hand in it. Relegation from the Premiership, relegation from this league, the never ending carousel of managers... it all goes back to one man. I'm sorry but the likes of uber intellectual nineteen beast and co and their lemming like defence of Lowe and their placing of any blame on stayaway fans is starting to really annoy me now. Lowe turned fans from fans to customers and customers have every right to withdraw their customer, especially when the man in charge treats them with the upmost contempt.. The buck stops with Lowe. This shambolic season is down to him and him alone. He meddled, he changed the management set up and ulitmately this whole mess is down to him. Everyone else has played a part but the ultimate responsiblity lies with Lowe. Live with it... Thanks Daren, and I respect your opinion too. I agree that Lowe is responsible for a hell of a lot this season, but I find it amazing that some people cannot see there are other factors at play too. Do I think Lowe's single mindedness about his revolutionary coaching setup cost us - yes I do. Do I think we had much choice but to play youth in the first part of the season, no I don't. BTW when we stopped doing this and playing a few of our higher earners we went into admin.... Personally I doubt that, even without the 'revolutionary coaching set up', we'd have done much better. Pearson had a good pair of lungs on him and appears to be a good motivator, but would he have done better with the same hand that JP/Wotte had? As someone who travelled to Hull to see our thrashing there AND saw us capitulate against Burnley / Barnsley, I doubt his tactical ability. Lowe was sailing the ship when it crashed into the iceberg, so yes, he is to blame. But in my opinion it is naive to think he is the only one to blame. Wilde, Hone, Hoos, Crouch - all those who let us get to a state where pounds were more important than players are also to blame. When Man City went down to the third tier they played to full houses, when we went down we spent the time blaming each other, boycotting etc. C'est la vie.
Nineteen Canteen Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 And what would have made those extra people come, better football and a more competitive side. Who was the gatekeeper to that, Lowe. How do you put the blame for this season's shambolic mess at the feet of the stayaway fans and not Lowe???? And as for me being hard in morning? Wow, you're not limp wristed at all are you?lol Now please run along, your "retorts" are as embarrassing as your arguments...
Nineteen Canteen Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 me thinks you've forgotten the cash flow issue (with or without Pearson). Many didn't forget, they just chose to ignore the problem and kept their expectations unrealistically high leading to severe disappointment.
alpine_saint Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 me thinks you've forgotten the cash flow issue (with or without Pearson). Nope. Not at all. But then that "prudence" before Xmas has delivered absolutely f**k all, and probably made the resulting mess worse in the long run.
eelpie Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 But none of it is his fault...apparently:rolleyes: Rupert blames Barclays. And Barclays, with all their financial expertise, should easily have been able to defend straight forward set piece corners.
Katalinic Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 Do I think we had much choice but to play youth in the first part of the season, no I don't. BTW when we stopped doing this and playing a few of our higher earners we went into admin.... We had a choice in terms of signing better players than Gasmi, Pulis, Robertson, Smith, Forecast, Pekhart.....or better still keeping a couple of our better players instead of sending them out on loan.
harvey Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 I went on a course yesterday and eventually the subject got around to football, everyone in the room was asked who they supported, answers came Spurs, Sunderland, Everton, and then I said Southampton and eveybody looked at me...instead of bursting out laughing which is what I was expecting, their faces dropped and they were very sympathetic to our plight.....I then realised that we are now viewed as a club to be pittyied rather than a club that you expect to have some banter about with other supporters. The blame is really only at one mans door, and that is Lowe.... a complete idiot.
Fan The Flames Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 And how do you get better football? Better players, more experienced managers oh and more money and how do you get more money? Bigger crowds. Catch 22 and so what gives? The club's future?? So when the crowds were at a number that included your extra 5000, it is then foolish to get in an unproven manager and get rid of your best players. So by your reckoning a less experienced manager and worse players equals less fans, therefore you agree the dwindling attendance is nothing to do with a boycott and all to do with the product, and who delivered the product, Lowe.
Alain Perrin Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 Nope. Not at all. But then that "prudence" before Xmas has delivered absolutely f**k all, and probably made the resulting mess worse in the long run. Kill me now or kill me later. I'm still dead. Personally I think, regardless of who was chairman, the loan out the high earners / play the youth approach was the only game in town. The question I have is 'was Lowe too aggressive in trying to cut costs', could we have cut less players, won more games and raised attendances enough to stave off administration. Who knows? I don't, you don't, no one does.
Daren W Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 Thanks Daren, and I respect your opinion too. Now please show me where I've put the blame entirely on Lowe? No doubt Wilde is the other main culprit with Crouch in thrid place with the other board members bringing up the rear. But.. The buck stops with him. He changed the management set up. He set in motion the events that have relegated us this season. He had now presided over two relegations in four years. Is he just unlucky?
Fan The Flames Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 Many didn't forget, they just chose to ignore the problem and kept their expectations unrealistically high leading to severe disappointment. Wes Tender Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 I just thought that I ought to tell you how it is with me, Nineteen. Whether I'm in any way representative of a grouping of other fans and how big that group might be, is open to conjecture. Although there are undoubtedly many who have stayed away because the football has been crap and the value for money lacking, I boycotted mainly as a matter of principle against Lowe and the Quisling, but also predicted from the start that the mad experiment with the two Dutch dunces would end in disaster. I am also here to tell you, that if Lowe or the Quisling have any position of power in my club from now on, I will not be attending until they have gone for good. If that comes to pass, then you can blame me and others like me all you like, but the message to them both should be clear. You have ruined our club and a dose of the clap is more welcome than you two are. If you do have any real affection for the club, then you will go away and never darken our doorstep again. Do us all a favour and go and take control of Pompey.

um pahars Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 Personally I think, regardless of who was chairman, the loan out the high earners / play the youth approach was the only game in town. But replacing Pearson with the hopeless Poortvliet was an appalling decision. Pearson is no world beater and I also accept that finances were tight and the playing side would be weakened as a result, but to bring Poortvliet in who proved to be an unmitigated disaster was akin to bringing Wigley in and blowing whatever chance you had. Poortvliet's appointment was mind blowingly stupid.
ottery st mary Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 Excellent - with that grasp of finances you should work in banking.... Like the Financial genius that is Rupert and jonah:smt082
Greenridge Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 The fact remains the players have lost their heart as a result of administration and our stay away fans are as responsible for that as much as Lowe. . It was an away game or did that element go over your head? It was also a very well supported away game. When you have lost any possibility of a structured argument I guess all you have left to blame is the fans eh Sunny D.

Katalinic Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 Excellent - with that grasp of finances you should work in banking.... Thanks for your patronising response but we have come to expect that from "His Master's Voice" I think actually most will agree with the point I was making i.e. we wasted an awful lot of money on c*** when we could have kept John, and/or Saganowski or Rasiak - is that simple enough for you to grasp?
Nineteen Canteen Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 Ok, so we have found some common ground in that we will be behind us in L1. I seriously doubt your thinking that if 2500-5000 fans extra had attended then results would be different. Like it or not Lowe continued to make mistakes in his managerial appointments, he did not learn from the previous wigleys etc etc. He had the chance after it was clear the JP thing wasnt working (even that he left too late imo). The man simply thought he was bigger than the club, could do no wrong and even now blames everything and everybody for his mistakes, even dating back to prem relegation. Yes the majority of the 35 odd "investors" proabably are tyre kickers but i believe this club still has huge potential and hopefully an investor will come in and put us back on track. Mike I wasn't clear in my previous post but I was trying to suggest that the extra revenue of 2,500 - 5,000 ticket sales would have held off administration and the players contribution would not have dropped off as it understandably has done in recent games. The extra support may have helped hold onto a draw (sheff utd game) who knows but it couldn't have done any harm. I'm hopeful an investor will come in but have no expectation of returning to the Premiership at this stage and would settle for consolidation in the CCC. I also agree JP should have gone earlier and in hindsight that away win at Reading actually bought him time he didn't really deserve despite what was a promising start to the season compared with the aged journeyman of the season before. I will reserve judgement on Lowe's character but always felt of the 3 he would always be able to communicate the most coherently on the club's behalf especially on the financial/operational management aspects of the club and Crouch could have equally done a job as Football Club Chairman if he could temper his more outlandish claims that did more to rile than instil passion. The trouble is Wilde had no place in the line up after his defection and Lowe's failure to get Crouch on board and take his £2m was the final nail if of course Crouch would have been happy with that minus his unachievable demands.
Alain Perrin Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 I try to respect everyone's opinion Daren - my comment was sarcasm at some of your vitriol directed at people with views different to yours. Now please show me where I've put the blame entirely on Lowe? I just thought the comment : "Oh for ****s sake when are the Lowe apologists going to stop with the "Oh you are stupid, Lowe can't be blamed for EVERYTHING" defence when anyone blames Lowe?? The man removed Pearson and and set in motion the absolute ****ing shambles that this season has become. Everything bad with club has his hand in it. Relegation from the Premiership, relegation from this league, the never ending carousel of managers... it all goes back to one man." .... indicated a certain 'one track blame' approach.
um pahars Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 Mike I wasn't clear in my previous post You also weren't clear which one of your multiple persona's you are posting under. HTH
Rattlehead Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 Darren seems to talk sense, which makes it even more surprising that he can't spell his own name properly.
Nineteen Canteen Posted 10 April, 2009 Posted 10 April, 2009 It was an away game or did that element go over your head? It was also a very well supported away game. When you have lost any possibility of a structured argument I guess all you have left to blame is the fans eh Sunny D. Greenridge don't be a smart ar5e despite the fact the suit fits well. Players have lost heart because of administration and fans stopped supporting the club that reduced revenues that helped to bring about our own downfall.
