RinNY Posted 9 April, 2009 Share Posted 9 April, 2009 Think you'll find he owns the Mumbi Indians and it's a Twenty20 cricket league!!! Right: the word "football" slipped in unconsciously due to a natural association with the term "Premier League"! Still, though that shows he has an interest in sport, I don't see him as a likely buyer of saints: if he wants a football club in England, he'll surely look higher than the bottom of the CCC. DaintyDave Posted 9 April, 2009 Share Posted 9 April, 2009 Question is what does Mukesh Ambani have to do with takeovers. His BROTHER was interested in West Ham (quietly) and Everton and Newcastle (publicly). Mukesh Ambani, as with so many others, fits the "name plucked from this air" category. Paul Allen's Seatlle team is drawing 30,000 a game over here in the States BTW.....maybe he'd be interested..........

saint lard Posted 9 April, 2009 Share Posted 9 April, 2009 Not sure whether it is a relation but St. Lard posted on Monday Anil Ambani according to Wiki the third most powerful man in India and has made attempts to buy Everton and Newcastle. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anil_Ambani http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showpost.php?p=252707&postcount=87 I have been posting ref Anil Ambani for a considerable amount of time,i think trousers will vouch for that,i have heard/read that Mukesh really likes to out do his brother in many contrasting areas but i truly believed that Anil was the man that was more interested in the football side and had definately shown interest in SFC. I would settle for either TBH.!!

DaintyDave Posted 9 April, 2009 Share Posted 9 April, 2009 No way a "global player" of any magnitude buys us. Can you imagine how embarrassing that would be for them, sat in the Ivy or Clydes with their big time friends "Ah, Bernie, how is life in London with QPR?"......"Miserable, still in the damn fizzy pop, ask old Al-Fayed here, he's the lucky bugger in the Prem" (cue laughs from Al Fayed, some geezers in white robes with Man City ties on, and Roman "that wasn't based on me in Rock'N'Roller" Abramovich". Suddenly they get a little sheepish....."sorry Anil, didn't meant to talk football....how's that Southampton thing going, good crowd for the Stockport game was there?". Really, people with money to spend are buying West Ham, Newcastle, Everton or even Blackburn, but most likely West Ham because it's in London. For the likes of Ambani and guys with money, Millwall, Charlton and even Watford are more appealing because they are in the right city, and Newcastle, Everton, Blackburn, Pompey and even Birmingham City soon are in the right division at least. Who cares about the extra cost, you make it back immediately on Sky money and player values, and we are clutching at the Billionnaire straw. No, we are either getting low level guys, fans or a consortium of can't do it alones. Sorry
david in sweden Posted 9 April, 2009 Share Posted 9 April, 2009 Think you'll find he owns the Mumbi Indians and it's a Twenty20 cricket league!!! well thats that then, if he buys Saints then we can throw in Hampshire Cricket at the same time . Hopkins Posted 9 April, 2009 Share Posted 9 April, 2009 Can't see it happening. If his brother is the one who's been known to be looking at clubs then i'm pretty sure if anyone is interested it will be him not his mega rich brother.
Daren W Posted 9 April, 2009 Share Posted 9 April, 2009 (edited) Not being funny, but unlikely surely? I couldn't buy a Ferrari because they wouldn't sell, so I bought a Vespa... Doesn't make sense. Not the best comparison, as if you worked hard and spent a bit you could may well get that Vespa speeding as fast as the ferrari. Obvious it would still be a vespa but with Saints the structure is there already. Buy it at a pittance, spend a bit and mould it as you want... The low low price might just make it more attractive as a no lose gamble... Edit: Just realised it was rumour on TUI... Top five Indian Billionaires thread soon to follow... I'd rather pull his pants down infront of some bird he likes than waste alot of my money on a football club just to get one over him. It's much more likely that it's his brother that is interested.
