alpine_saint Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 According to someone on TUI, he is an Indian Billionare in advance talks to buy Saints. Was this Mark Fry's first meeting ?
InvictaSaint Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 Quick, see if it's an anagram of Fat Barry.... :-)
Joneth Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mukesh_Ambani seems he owns the Indian Premier (cricket) League amoungst other things. Just what saints need..our own league!
bridge too far Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mukesh_Ambani 5th on the Forbes list apparently. I'm sure his name's been bandied about on here before.
RinNY Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 He's something like 5th or 6th richest man in the world, heads one of the biggest industral groups in Asia, and owns a football team in India's Premier League. In other words, it would be nice, but don't hold your breath: another Paul Allen rumour, methinks.
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 He's the brother of Anil Ambani, who was linked with buying Newcastle recently. Both are billionaires but I'm not sure if they get on too well...
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1061745/Fifth-richest-man-world-sues-brother-sixth-richest-man-world-118m-libel-case.html He's apparently the 5th richest man in the World and, back in 2007, he was even top for a while! Paul Allen? A mere pauper! If this does not go through, it will be all your fault, Mark Fry!!!
Torres Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 , and owns a football team in India's Premier League. Sweet - we could replace the Dutch revolutionary coaching setup with an Indian version. Anyone know who plated a full-back for India in the 1974 Asia Cup?
DT Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 Seems too good to be true, a la Paul Allen. Cannot think of any connection barring the IPL, Kevin Pietersen, and a sizeable Indian community in Southampton. Or perhaps having a club as a trophy, but a struggling Championship/League One team hardly fits that bill. Fanciful, but hope so!
derry Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 Bloody good rumour, just like the halcyon days of 2007, is it this fri or next?
St.Bart -No.1 Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 Not sure whether it is a relation but St. Lard posted on Monday Anil Ambani according to Wiki the third most powerful man in India and has made attempts to buy Everton and Newcastle. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anil_Ambani http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showpost.php?p=252707&postcount=87
Legod Third Coming Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 Not being funny, but unlikely surely? I couldn't buy a Ferrari because they wouldn't sell, so I bought a Vespa... Doesn't make sense.
ottery st mary Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 This guy only deals on Wednesday...So Friday it is then happy posters.
alpine_saint Posted 9 April, 2009 Author Posted 9 April, 2009 Not being funny, but unlikely surely? I couldn't buy a Ferrari because they wouldn't sell, so I bought a Vespa... Doesn't make sense. Anil and Mukesh dont get on. Mukesh wasnt anything to do with Anil's interest in Everton and Newcastle.
Saint In Exile Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 He's something like 5th or 6th richest man in the world, heads one of the biggest industral groups in Asia, and owns a football team in India's Premier League. In other words, it would be nice, but don't hold your breath: another Paul Allen rumour, methinks. Think you'll find he owns the Mumbi Indians and it's a Twenty20 cricket league!!!
hypochondriac Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 His brief was our all-round development. We played hockey, football and different kinds of games, watched matches at Cooperage, travelled in buses and trains and explored different parts of Bombay. We went camping and stayed in a village for 10-15 days every year. Small clip from an interview.
Ponty Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mukesh_Ambani seems he owns the Indian Premier (cricket) League amoungst other things. Just what saints need..our own league! We'd probably manage to get ourselves relegated in a league of one anyway.
Badger Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 Sweet - we could replace the Dutch revolutionary coaching setup with an Indian version. Anyone know who plated a full-back for India in the 1974 Asia Cup? ??? Don't know if this should be a or a fully blown :smt082 Will have to research the term on Urban Dictionary or similar later.
Smirking_Saint Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 Paul allen was completely material, from what i was led to believe at the time. Just hope this is the same and there is nobody to get in the way. Would he really want to buy saints ?? Would have understood before the IPL took KP from hampshire.
lordswoodsaints Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 With a name like that he has to be playing for Pompey
Soggy Bottom Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 Not being funny, but unlikely surely? I couldn't buy a Ferrari because they wouldn't sell, so I bought a Vespa... Doesn't make sense. What if you bought an old Ferrari and spent some money to get it up and running. Most Billionaires have new Ferrari, but you would have a one that nobody else has. The fun is in the making, no point buying a airfix model already completed
St_Tel49 Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 We'd probably manage to get ourselves relegated in a league of one anyway. Inevitably - if you think about it we would have finished bottom ;-)
wireframebox Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 Not being funny, but unlikely surely? I couldn't buy a Ferrari because they wouldn't sell, so I bought a Vespa... Doesn't make sense. Yes, but a Vespa will always be a Vespa... A successful season and promotion can dramatically improve your turnover and kudos.
Durleyfos Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 He can be the godfather to any further children I have if he buys Saints!
slickmick Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 Thanks Alpine, its about time we had a decent rumour to get stuck into.
northam soul Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 This is more like it, back to the good old takeover thread days. This will shake the all conquering catering up a bit. Bring on the half time vindaloos.
Badvoc Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 If this theory has any legs could it have something to do with our own Mr Singh? Former Southampton resident Sarwan Singh controls a 6% shareholding bought purely as a piece of Stock Market speculation, from his base in India. Could there be a connection?
Torres Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 Has the casual racsim been deleted or did I imagine it?
krissyboy31 Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 I would have thought he was more likely to invest in or buy out Rose Bowl PLC in advance of the T20 English Premier League being launched. That might well free up funds for Rod Bransgrove though???
Give it to Ron Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 Hmmmmm.. This guy is too big for us surley Dont call me Shirley....... So we may go from Rupert to Rupees....
SaintRobbie Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 (edited) According to someone on TUI, he is an Indian Billionare in advance talks to buy Saints. Was this Mark Fry's first meeting ? You don't. We're talking about Mukesh Ambani. So there
trousers Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 You don't. We're talking about Mukesh Ambani. So there Yep, mentioned him in the post before the one I quoted above. Honest. I'm gonna have to scrutinise the Football League rules to see if I lose out on a mere technicality....
trousers Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 Anyway, talking of Asturius....I see their website is still up and running.... http://www.asturius.com Alas, I still haven't cracked the entry password
trousers Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 Its this good looking fella that we are hopefully getting: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mukesh_Ambani Prefer the earlobes on Anil TBH
hypochondriac Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 (edited) Again, why the f**k are people continually using racial stereotypes. Is it supposed to be funny or some sort of joke? Edited 10 April, 2009 by St Landrew Removed quote as original post was deleted

Window Cleaner Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 Prefer the earlobes on Anil TBH See he's already got the right coloured tie!!

Junior Mullet Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 Prefer the earlobes on Anil TBH Right colour tie anyway
SaintRobbie Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 Right colour tie anyway Agreed - good enough for me.
