david in sweden Posted 8 April, 2009 Posted 8 April, 2009 (edited) BBC story states that Salisbury are up for sale - for £1. Not quite Saints story - I know, but another club in trouble and they can be bought for considerably less than Saints. A great shame, especially as former Saint (and 1976 FA Cup winner) Nick Holmes is manager. Nick has done a great job with getting his side into the Conference League - and holding a midtable position - Last seasons cup run entended to two games v. Notts Forest before being defeated and this season despite crippling debts and (like Saints) having to loan out / sell players to keep the wage bill down. Hope someone can step in and help them, too. J Bizzle Posted 8 April, 2009 Posted 8 April, 2009 the situation there was a hell of a lot worse than saints'. They loaned out their whole 1st team and played the reserves/youth. A few years ago they nearly folded and if a buyer is not found soon i think this time they will collapse.
Scummer Posted 8 April, 2009 Posted 8 April, 2009 Would I be right in thinking that Salisbury are owned by Jonathan Marland?
bridge too far Posted 8 April, 2009 Posted 8 April, 2009 Would I be right in thinking that Salisbury are owned by Jonathan Marland? If that's the case, why is he still posting on here
J Bizzle Posted 8 April, 2009 Posted 8 April, 2009 Nev Beale was running the things when i played for them. Expect it's still him.
Scummer Posted 8 April, 2009 Posted 8 April, 2009 Ok, Sundance Beast/Nineteen Canteen/Jonathan Marland/Baron Marland of Odstock is their President apparently.
bridge too far Posted 8 April, 2009 Posted 8 April, 2009 Would I be right in thinking that Salisbury are owned by Jonathan Marland? So - let me get this straight - there are two football clubs in the South [whose (erstwhile) directors are connected] who are in financial straits? Well, suck my plums and jar my jellies!
trousers Posted 8 April, 2009 Posted 8 April, 2009 Well, suck my plums and jar my jellies! Ok. Where do I sign?
bridge too far Posted 8 April, 2009 Posted 8 April, 2009 Ok. Where do I sign? ..........................................................
trousers Posted 8 April, 2009 Posted 8 April, 2009 Go on Rupert, you know you want to.... Suck plums?
Big Bad Bob Posted 8 April, 2009 Posted 8 April, 2009 Well, suck my plums and jar my jellies! And there was me thinking you were of the female persuasion  And has anyone actually confirmed L-JM alter-egos or is all guess work??
benjii Posted 8 April, 2009 Posted 8 April, 2009 Can I just say, that there is no way in the world that Nineteen Canteen is Lord Marland. I heard Lord Marland on the radio once and he came across as fairly intelligent and articulate.
ottery st mary Posted 8 April, 2009 Posted 8 April, 2009 A Lowe Marland reverse take over on the cards.....Mind you Salisbury would be a local Derby in a couple of years.
david in sweden Posted 8 April, 2009 Author Posted 8 April, 2009 If we're liquidated lets just buy them and start in the conference. That sounds funny Adrian, BUT..if we had a few million, instead of an overdraft .... a Prem. side might use them as a nursery side and feeder for new talent. Half a hour on the motorway and the whole of the West Country as scouting territory..... Ah well ......just dreams.!
miserableoldgit Posted 8 April, 2009 Posted 8 April, 2009 I`ve just heard that longlifesaint is scratching around to put together a consortium to raise the pound.
Window Cleaner Posted 8 April, 2009 Posted 8 April, 2009 It would be ironic if a potential buyer could afford the £ but couldn't raise the £4.60 bus fare to get there.

bridge too far Posted 8 April, 2009 Posted 8 April, 2009 I`ve just heard that longlifesaint is scratching around to put together a consortium to raise the pound. Is he now LifeLong White?
david in sweden Posted 9 April, 2009 Author Posted 9 April, 2009 What motorway ? Well part of the trip is motorway I suppose, the rest is the horse and cart ride into the Cathedral area, but it isn't that far is it ? Let's not pretend it's a metropolis.
Barry Horne Posted 9 April, 2009 Posted 9 April, 2009 I`ve just heard that longlifesaint is scratching around to put together a consortium to raise the pound. That's probably pretty close to the truth! He's scrabbling about in Barry's briefcase as we speak!
