Ludwig Posted 7 April, 2009 Share Posted 7 April, 2009 It wasn't really a game of two halves. We were pretty decent at times in both halves, same as them. It's just that it was far more open 2nd half that chances were created for both sides. Smith and McAnuff should've scored for them, as Euell should have had two for us. Missed chances for both sides but on the balance of play I reckon we dominated a bit. McGoldrick should play in the hole though, he can't defend but his passing is decent; needs some discipline positionally though.
Ludwig Posted 7 April, 2009 Share Posted 7 April, 2009 I thought you were a hornets fan? Well, I was sat in the home end. Charlie Wayman Posted 7 April, 2009 Share Posted 7 April, 2009 Does anybody actually care about this any more? Just like the Titanic we are slipping very very slowly but inexorably under the waterline. I just wish the whole thing would explode with one giant Effing whizz-bang and have done with it. Put the poor sods - and us - out of our misery FL by pulling the plug. This crap week after week is just too much to bear. Legod Third Coming Posted 7 April, 2009 Share Posted 7 April, 2009 Indeed. Piece of pss, don't know what the fuss is all about. Tanking is easy;) Do you recall when some muppet drove one into a house in Whitehill near Bordon??!!! lol - woke some poor buggers up! Try a Chieftan or Challenger - they're real tanks. And forest at home would have all the pressure on them. Who knows, we could end up in the Championship, with rich new owners, and no penalty points. maybe. SuperMikey Posted 7 April, 2009 Share Posted 7 April, 2009 Hopefully Wotte has realised now that Euell is NOT a striker! I think he should be played in the AMC role behind DMG and Saga, who are more established goalscorers (and finishers). However, i'm quite happy with a point considering I thought we were going to lose by a big margin. But on Friday, PLAY SAGA. I know he's not scored many goals recently, but he works his butt off all game, chasing down the ball and closing down defenders, and that can be vital. alpine_saint Posted 7 April, 2009 Share Posted 7 April, 2009 The most incomprehensible according to Merrington being Smith a left footed player out on the right and B-WP a right footed player out on the left. Did Burley leave his text books behind in the managers office ?
WGC Saint Posted 7 April, 2009 Share Posted 7 April, 2009 Just back from the game and thoroughly enjoyed it as did my sons. Great atmosphere (well done to those that travelled further than I had to) and really a game that we very easily could have won. But Watford being our bogey team it was typical for them to score immediately after Euell missed a sitter that I think would have been the platform for a 3-1 win. But hey-ho, it's not over until it's over. 1 point is better than none and it was sooooo sweet when that wonderful free kick found the top corner in the last minute. Why didn't Size take the one in the dying seconds?!!! Thought Ryan Smith looked impressive at times and generally good effort all over the park from everyone. Agree that Saga should start against Wolves - especially with his goal scoring record at their place! Keep the faith.

maxi_sopez Posted 7 April, 2009 Share Posted 7 April, 2009 Just Got back from the game Um typical saints, looked great in parts, but couldnt finish...Typical as usual Eull misses sitter they score, but at the point i thought they would win 3-1 rather than 2-2. F*cking awesome freekick though! I think everyone around me seemed to think we were down, but still the atmosphere was amazing and really happy i went. Under Weststand Posted 7 April, 2009 Share Posted 7 April, 2009 Good fight back didn't expect a draw at 2-1 down but a point is probably not good enough in the big picture. Just seen the goals on Sky & have to say Davis at fault for the first goal, & where was the defence for the second watford goal He was completely alone to head in. What a great free Kick By JPS to get a point though.
new_zealand_saint Posted 7 April, 2009 Share Posted 7 April, 2009 Also just got back from the game, Euell's miss was appalling, added to the one-on-one he missed on satm he should be droped to AMC or the bench but oh well. I though JPS was our MOM, with Ryan Smith close behind - although he really should be playing on the left so he can use his pace to get round the defender and then cross whilst on the run, instead of him having to cut back each time when he plays on the right. I really can't see why people don't rate him, he does the most important thing that NONE of our other wingers do, and thats run with the ball at the defender and take him on. IMO he's our best winger.
Bailey Posted 7 April, 2009 Share Posted 7 April, 2009 After being 2-1 down I'd take that. Not the worst result in the world, and keeps us in touch of those around us. Saeijs' free-kick was something special. Fantastic effort! Davis should have saved their first goal but you can't blame him. If it wasn't for him, we'd already be bottom this season. Special mention to the travelling fans. Phenomenal support! Full credit to everyone.

SFC Forever Posted 7 April, 2009 Share Posted 7 April, 2009 If it does go to the last game we could be in with a shout as most pressure will be on Forest. saintjay77 Posted 7 April, 2009 Share Posted 7 April, 2009 was watching SSN and all the updates seems to suggest we were generally on top for the most of the game. Defending let us down for both goals and almost a few more but not always defending from the defenders. the whole team need to stay awake when we defend and its been like that the whole season. Thanks fook for Size though! It takes a bloody defender to show the rest of the team where the back of the net is! Still think we have a decent shout of getting out of the bottom 3 in the last 5 games but dont have much confidence in the team thinking the same. SNSUN Posted 8 April, 2009 Share Posted 8 April, 2009 A win against Wolves on Sunday (and yes I know it's on Sky), and I'll not only be shocked, I'll probably hit something. The roof, perhaps. A win against Wolves is the only result that keeps us in the race to stay up (Not literally, but head will rule heart.). Sadly, after the Charlton debacle, it's not looking good. shepherds bush saint Posted 8 April, 2009 Share Posted 8 April, 2009 This is what my watford supporting mate sent me this morning, it wasn't the impression I had after following the match on the forum! Good game last night. I think a fair result in the end although your guys realy should have beaten us to be honest. You plyed some excellent attacking football with Jason Juell giving us so many problems. Southhamptom scored a stunning second goal from a free kick just outside our area, a good contender for goal of the month. Saints fans really got behind their team last night and created a great atmosphere which kept us lot very quiet, it seemed you were the home team and we were the visitors!! If Saints play like that at every remaining game you just might survive now that you are not going to be docked 10 points.

Saint_clark Posted 8 April, 2009 Share Posted 8 April, 2009 Were you stoned or something? That had to be one of the most infuriating performances I've seen of a Saints player in recent years. Why?
Saint_clark Posted 8 April, 2009 Share Posted 8 April, 2009 Strachans main point was for wingers and full backs to get as many crosses in as possible. He got angry when people dicked around and failed to cross. So Fernandes and Bridge created a lot of chances. Last night Smith and BWP dicked around and lost the ball most the time. They had so many chances to cross, yet several of them ended in being tackled and Watford breaking. Smith especially had so much time and space to cross a few times, but ran his way into trouble or took a bad touch. Lloyd James however got the ball forward twice and immediately put in the cross. BWP and Smith would have done well on the opposite wings as the watford full backs were poor. But surely they would be getting the crosses in sooner if they were on their natural feet? saints_is_the_south Posted 8 April, 2009 Share Posted 8 April, 2009 Got back about 2am last night, well too tired to post anything then. A point gained or 2 lost? Could be either really. Being 2-1 down with 2 minutes left you'd have to say point gained although i felt we controlled large parts of the game & had an awful lot of possesion, unfortuantley possesion doesn't win football matches. It would have been very unjust if we'd lost the game IMO. JPS - awesome! Nice to see a player actually doing it on the pitch after talking it up before! Great free kick - can't wait to see it on TV, wtf Surman didn't let him take the last one i don't know. Thought KD should haved saved the first goal, quite a tight angle for the lad to score from him. Our best players were DMG, Smith & JPS. All our strikers seem to be lacking confidence at the moment, Euell really should have put us ahead before they got their 2nd & Saga didn't look like scoring when he come on. Whats happened to Paterson btw? Since his goal at Ipswich he hasn't seemed to have got a look in. Support was immense last night, probably the best I've been involved in since Derby away in the play offs. Proud to be a part of it.

Papa Shango Posted 8 April, 2009 Share Posted 8 April, 2009 Why the hell did Surman take that free kick at the end, a minute after JPS's wonder goal? Surely Saeijs should have had it again instead of someone who I'm almost certain has never scored a free kick in his professional career? A draw isn't really good enough though, we needed 3 points from this one if we were to have any chance at all, although I had already give up hope of staying up on Saturday.
