derry Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 On at 6.30 ready to answer listeners questions Ask him what was Royston Smith Southampton Conservative leader doing, going into SMS with him at 1630, are they putting a deal together to buy SMS. I can't because I'm at a retirement party. I'd be very interested to see how he answered.
sotonjoe Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 Leon's actions seem to imply more than a supporting interest in the club. It may be that he is just keen to hhelp find a buyer but I'm a little concerned that he has ambitions with regards to getting back into a position of power. I remain unimpressed with his first stint in charge and am a firm believer that you don't automatically know how to run a football club just because you are a passionate fan.
trousers Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 Ask him what was Royston Smith Southampton Conservative leader doing, going into SMS with him at 1630 Was Kevin Keegan in the car park with them?
trousers Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 Q: Does Leon believe the Administrator will go for the best deal for Begbies Traynor/Barclays (i.e. short term financial recouperation) or the best for the fans of the Football Club (i.e. long term financial investment) ?
dubai_phil Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 Is it party political broadcast time again? Out of interest, who voted for Leon as spokesperson? Why was he swanning it running the Directors Box like he ran the club again? The more he keeps popping up, the more this all starts to smell a funny colour? One out all out - he is as much to blame as everyone else as HE did not kill Lowe off when he first came onto the scene We want a NEW BROOM - LEON go away and take all the hangers on with you

He supposedly popped a sizeable five figure cheque into the SOS kitty last week.
trousers Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 We want a NEW BROOM - LEON go away and take all the hangers on with you INT. DAY. SID'S CAFE. Sid is behind the counter with his customary cigarette between his lips. In the background in kitchen area is Sid's assistant cook. Trigger, in working clothes and Boycie, in suit and tie and reading a car-dealer's magazine, are seated at a table. Trigger is sporting a small, silver medal on his chest. Trigger's broom is leaning against wall. Trigger Did I tell you what Councillor Murray said to me when she gave me this medal? Boycie Yes! Trigger, you are boring the pants off me with this bloody medal! Trigger No. She said, 'I thank you on behalf of the council and the people of Peckham!' Del Morning, Sid. What d'you fancy, Rodney? Rodney I'll have a cheese roll. Cut to table. Trigger I still find it hard to believe! Boycie So do I! Medals for road sweepers! They'll be giving Del Boy an award for good taste next! Del and Rodney join them at the table. Del Morning all. Boycie Thank God you've arrived! He can bore you two with it now! Rodney What's that then? Boycie Trigger's got a medal. Del Oh yeah. Where'd you find that, Trig? Trigger I was awarded it. Look. Trigger shows them a photo. Trigger ( Cont'd) It's a picture of me receiving my medal from Councillor Murray. We see it is a photograph of Trigger, in uniform, with broom held proudly in hand, receiving an award from Councillor Murray in the town hall. Trigger (Cont'd) See, that's me. Rodney Oh that's you, is it? I'm glad you cleared that up, Trig. Del Let me have a look at that. So that's Councillor Murray, is it? That's the cow that refused my application for a council grant. I've never been treated so badly in all my life. Boycie Derek, when you have the time you'll have to tell me all about it. Del Hey, d'you reckon your friends at the masonic lodge might have some influence at the town hall? Boycie No. I've just often wondered what it must be like to apply for a council grant. Boycie laughs. Del And the day started out so well, didn't it? Trigger It's Councillor Murray's idea. She's head of Finance and Facilities at the Town Hall and she says the local people should be rewarded for services to the community. A proud moment in my family's history. Boycie Trigger, you haven't got a family history. You were created by a chemical spillage at a germ warfare plant somewhere off Deptford High Street. Trigger Maybe. But I still feel proud.
trousers Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 contd/... Rodney So what exactly is the award for? Trigger For saving the council money. I happened to mention to her one day that I've had the same broom for the last twenty years. She was very impressed and said have a medal. Twenty years. Long time, Dave. Rodney Yeah, I know. It's two decades innit? Trigger I wouldn't go that far, but it's a long time. Sid arrives with tea and things. Del If you've had that broom for 20 years d'you ever actually sweep the roads with it? Trigger Well of course! But I look after it well. We have an old saying that's been handed down by generations of road sweepers: 'Look after your broom...' Rodney (Finishes saying for him) And your broom will look after you. Trigger ... No Dave. It's just: 'Look after your broom'. Rodney Oh, that old saying! Trigger Yeah. And that's what I've done. Maintained it for twenty years. This old broom's had seventeen new heads and fourteen new handles in its time. Sid Well, how the hell can it be the same bloody broom then? Trigger There's a picture of it! What more proof d'you need? Boycie Did you tell this Councillor Murray bint about the seventeen new heads and fourteen new handles? Trigger No. I didn't get technical with her. Anyway, I'll see you around. Sid Bon appetite.

We were a plc, Lowe was unfortunately a major shareholder (with his cronies bigger than Leon), if Lowe won't sell then how the **** does Leon make sure he does not come back. That was the major problem with the plc, and now thank goodness that albatross has been taken away and we can get back to being a football club again. Leon is the only one who has actually invested personally in the Club and continues to provide income to the Club through his sponsorship and his personal donations (statue). He has more right than most to still be involved. I am not a great fan of his but we need someone to work with the Admins and at the moment Leon is best placed to do so.

He should have no more right to swan around St Marys than Lowe has. I really hope whoever takes the club over has no previous history. No Crouch , no Fulthorpe/Merrington, no McMenemy.
St Marco Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 Vectis People don't want to hear that because a lot of them simply don't believe it. Crouch did some wrong for this club but nothing anywhere near the level Lowe and Wilde did. The most ironic thing is out of all the three Crouch is the only one to come out and not only admit he made mistakes but to say he is sorry for them. What have the others said? Wilde = Im not to blame, it was the banks fault for believing me when i said i knew people who would invest. The £12m we spent in under 20 months was the banks fault. Im innocent. Lowe = It is the previous boards fault. I was not at the club when we got into debt. I left the club in a great state, i am not to blame, i regret nothing. etc etc If anyone thinks Crouch should not be trusted or put next to those two then **** em.

I am not a great fan of his but we need someone to work with the Admins and at the moment Leon is best placed to do so. although commendable that he cares, I am not convinced that we do need someone to work with admins - open mind /fresh views / not basing decisions on history and personalities etc
ART Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 I heartily agree that the sudden reappearance of Crouch with McMenemy towing along really sends out as bad a message as Lowe and Wilde. It truly stinks. The more the two of them have appeared the more downhearted and depressed I've felt at the sight. I want to see all past players of the Boardroom Wars swept well and truly out to sea once and for all. Dispatch them on an Isle of Wight Ferry, the lot of them. I'd like to see a poll on here to send out the right message that the majority of supporters don't want to see any of yesterdays men ever again within the walls of power. We need a clean slate, a new beginning. Why are Crouch and McMenemy doing it? For exactly the same reason Lowe and Wilde were...................to try and scrap back their ill begotten gains earned in days gone by.
dubai_phil Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 although commendable that he cares, I am not convinced that we do need someone to work with admins - open mind /fresh views / not basing decisions on history and personalities etc From what I saw in the photographs there a lot of faces sitting in the Directors Box who could be said to be equally able to offer help to the admins... I have NO problem IF Mark Fry has asked Leon to help. But from where I sit, Leon is taking the attitude "I gave some money so I'm able to do this..." That worries me. If he could not get rid of Lowe then he should have been MUCH more careful when he went Wilde - he wasn't.

trousers Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 I've asked the question, was told it would be put to him, but im not holding my breadth. What about your width?
NickG Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 exactly Phil - people should feel open to start afresh with administrators without an influence/ties to previous failed regimes.
NickG Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 I haven't got enough money to buy the club or I would. We need £500,000 in a month to save the club
NickG Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 Mark D raises Lowe, LC says not time for inquest but to support team, LC - all I can say about RL is that I will never leave by the back door. MD moans about Askham etc being in directors box, LC says I will sit down with the devil to save saints Nick Illingsworth is trying to open a bank account every should do money raising things, car boot sales getting head shaved etc
NickG Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 no way we can have 10 points taken off of us as club is not in administration
NickG Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 does Mark Fry think club will be sold before end of season? we are attractive club, there are people out there looking very seriously
Third Division South Days Posted 6 April, 2009 Author Posted 6 April, 2009 I haven't got enough money to buy the club or I would. We need £500,000 in a month to save the club I thought the administrator said we were ok until the end of the month and then if a buyer was not found it would be curtains?
NickG Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 M D -whats Mark Fry like LC - he is positive good guy
NickG Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 £500k is needed to keep the club going to complete the fixtures
NickG Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 hoping will be sold before then (ps all for typing trying to keep up for those not able to listen!)
NickG Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 intend to put a barometer on back page of echo to show if we are going to survive. understands people thinking its going straight to rich players
andysstuff Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 (ps all for typing trying to keep up for those not able to listen!) Yeh, thanks for this.
NickG Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 as a major shareholder I didn't know how bad it was until Lowe rang me last week
NickG Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 someone ringing up saying he went round Wilde's house on Friday to ask him questions! Wilde wasn't available!

One out all out - he is as much to blame as everyone else as HE did not kill Lowe off when he first came onto the scene We want a NEW BROOM - LEON go away and take all the hangers on with you I think the problem is we cannot afford a new broom. When it comes to the end of the month and the club are 50k short of staying in business it just might be handy to have someone like Crouch around.
NickG Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 LC interupts caller asking about Wilde/Lowe joining up, saying this is irrelevant stop raking up the past.
NickG Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 LC good thing if council buy out mortgage and leases back to saints -would be investment for rate payers
Saint Fan CaM Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 Why are Crouch and McMenemy doing it? For exactly the same reason Lowe and Wilde were...................to try and scrap back their ill begotten gains earned in days gone by. What an utterly pathetic and totally untrue statement. How about they're trying to save the club? Is that too hard to understand?! Just tell me what ill begotten gains Crouch has received?!? He bought his shares - they were not gifted, stolen or gained from some murky deal. He worked for nothing whilst in the Chair at SMS - has not taken millions out of the club to feather his nest, unlike some. Sorry Art - I considered you as a once respected poster on here, but the drivel you have spouted there has shown you up as complete numpty. :smt017

Indeed, whilst Leon was p*ssing the overdraft up the wall it's fair to say he didn't take a penny for himself.
up and away Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 Is it party political broadcast time again? Out of interest, who voted for Leon as spokesperson? One out all out - he is as much to blame as everyone else as HE did not kill Lowe off when he first came onto the scene We want a NEW BROOM - LEON go away and take all the hangers on with you As much as I agree with the comments and the stupidity of Crouch for his part in the financial mess, beggars cannot be choosers. I cannot see anyone else out there who is going to put anything into Saints and as such we are stuck together until he becomes a liability again. McMonemy is a completely different matter, such a devisive person with everything flowing towards him, rather than shelling out. At the present I cannot see the point regarding trying to plug the hole with money for the administrator. Unless we find someone with capital for the long term, this becomes totally pointless. All you are doing is delaying the inevitable with that money doing absolutely no good. Save it for when we have been through the wringer and it can be of used for the team. I tried to get an answer to this point on Saturday but it was all too hectic. If anyone can answer this point and tell me why giving money now would not be a waste, I would like to hear it. I would like to help out, but will not until I know this is the right time to do it. One other question I would like to ask Crouch, exactly what was the rationale in signing Davies?
St Marco Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 Indeed, whilst Leon was p*ssing the overdraft up the wall it's fair to say he didn't take a penny for himself. How did he do that exactly? As far as i am aware he had no control over the finances. In fact he was one of the people saying to not spend money.
NickG Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 still on, but mainly callers and Mark D's comments which not going to bother typing!
Saint Fan CaM Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 Indeed, whilst Leon was p*ssing the overdraft up the wall it's fair to say he didn't take a penny for himself. Got proof of that have you? If not, I suggest you take your foot out of your mouth and start thinking a little before spouting rubbish. I cannot believe how small minded some fans are about this - LC has lost £1.6m and he still works his socks off to save the club! And I know for a FACT that it's because he loves his football and loves the club. What are YOU doing to save the club?!
NickG Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 can't answer whether players have been asked if players have been asked to take pay cut. MD says he heard Kelvin has
Huffton Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 At the present I cannot see the point regarding trying to plug the hole with money for the administrator. If anyone can answer this point and tell me why giving money now would not be a waste, I would like to hear it. I would like to help out, but will not until I know this is the right time to do it. Because according to what LC said if the club doesn't raise £500k by the end of the month there won't be a club left for anyone to buy. We need to survive the next 3 weeks first and foremost, a buyout won't happen overnight.
NickG Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 9 year old saying got £20 will give it if all players give a weeks wages!
saint lard Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 nipper says he will put £20 from his piggy bank if the players donate 1 weeks wages!
Huffton Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 Indeed, whilst Leon was p*ssing the overdraft up the wall it's fair to say he didn't take a penny for himself. But was it Leon who ****ed it up against the wall? As I remember it was Wildes cronies who spunked all the money we didn't have coming in. LC actuall started the cost cutting that Lowe carried on with. LC only mistake I can really remember is sticking with Dodd and Gorman for as long as he did, but he put it right in the end.
um pahars Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 At the present I cannot see the point regarding trying to plug the hole with money for the administrator. Can only presume you don't get Radio Hampshire where you live or else you would have heard Crouch say that this money is needed (half a million of it) just to see this season out!!!!! No return for it, nothing to show for your donation/gift apart from ensuring the Club stays afloat. Good or bad, I need to have a think about it.
NickG Posted 6 April, 2009 Posted 6 April, 2009 caller - couple of months ago you said you would put £2m if MW and RL did the same, if you were good for your word why don't you pay £500k and we pay you back? LC sounded bit annoyed and said why don't you pay it, why don't you ask those who have taken millions out, - hasn't got an answer!!!!!!
