This all makes it sound like a battle to wrest control, I'm imagining things are rather more moribund than that. More like spin the bottle than 'spin' the battle.

Souness :/

Please God know!!! we need a total clear out and a fresh start!!! the malignancy seeping through the club has to be eradicated!!! they are all culpable in some way, we need a new broom!!

We just need someone I would have thought

bloody right John!!!

At this moment in time i don't care WHO comes in ,as long as SOMEONE does!! and if one of the consortium members happens to be someone who has an affiliation with Saints, then i think thats even better . all IMHO of course.. :)

Ideally its all new blood... the alst thing we need right now, is ex this and ex that riding into town on a steed of populist ideals with no substance - we need survival, consolidation, foundation laying for future growth... not more charm offensive rhetoric...

I agree to some extent - anyone is better than having no club, and we should all count our blessings if someone does manage to strike a deal, but we've had the 'fan' stuff before, and look where that got us...

Not as badly off as the d.ickhead wannabee super-duper City financier, that's for sure..

But of course, you've lapped up all the "not my fault, its his fault" crap from Lowe in the tabloids all weekend, havent you ?

I would have most sensible people will have accepted that Lowe is not totally responsible for the mess we find ourselves in today.

A pity your "sensible" messiah never attempted an element of balance in his interviews as well then, isnt it ? Because apparently, its all the fault of Crouch, the Wilde execs (at the moment hes not accusing Wilde directly) and Barclays, and NOTHING to do with a few utterly waank decisions he made back in 2003/2004.

Maybe if he attempted a bit of balance once-in-a-while, he wouldnt be so hated.

The administrator will not give a monkeys for populist ideals, they will accept the bid that's worth the most money wether it's from a popular ex manager or Bin Laden's nastier brother.

Surely if the person who can stump up the most cash also has some affinity with the club, and knows his football, it's a good thing?

you were right most sensible people are not blameing him for every thing ,but relegation played a big part .

the real damage was done the last few seasons but thats history now,so i f i were you just (ignore the lowe is to blame for everthing lowe nutters) and hope we get taken over by someone who has not been involved before for a new start.

No. You're right. The rest of the responsibility lies with Askham, Richards, Gordon, Wiseman, Wilde, etc, not forgetting of course the blame that attaches to us, the fans. But in true Harry Truman form, as he so sensibly and cogently accepted when he was President of the US, the sign on his desk indicated that "the buck stops here" and the same applies here with Lowe.

But hopefully he's history now and having had a few days to dance upon his grave metaphorically, I'm all for putting that particular bad dream behind me and looking forwards with renewed optimism that sooner or later we can begin to move forward again.

Also in The Mail from Jamie Redknapp:-

SAINTS, BUT NO ANGELS

There were 27,228 fans at Southampton, watching Charlton win 3-2. These are desperate times for a good club. Each of those fans would like the answer to this question: What has happened to the money from the sales of Theo Walcott, Kenwyne Jones and Gareth Bale?

I would just get them to read the audited accounts from between 2003-2008 - its all there.... once again though 'SAINTS AS PLC, LEGALLY RQUIRED TO FILE ACCOUNTS AND AS A PLC HAVE STRICTER LEGISLATION ON ALL FINANCIALS ' does not make as good a headline as in effect 'whose got the cash'.... media garbage again.

Sure they will, but I hope its someone with a huge dose of realism and honesty, rather than what we have had these last few years.

I would be well happy with Souness running the show, he knows his stuff and is a winner.

He is knowlegable and talks a good game.I'd take issue with the last part of your summary though.

One point re Souness though wasn't he in tandem with the scouser Morgan to fund things ? If so that avenue will be closed as Morgan bought Wolves.

There was also once mention of Souness/Kennedy (?),the latter also involved at Sale Sharks.

To put the Mail article in context they also mention Merrington's consortium which is probably the Fulthorpe thing. So how up to date could that be ? Seems the Mail may have gone back to their archives to see who might still be floating around.

all you seem to do since he left was to mention his name. move on you sad f*****

the rosy cheeked one is history

The simple summary is that we could do worse than Sounness, but we could also possibly do better. At the end of the day, its the evening - however, its a stormy evening for Saints and any port in a storm comes to mind.

Souness has links to Saints and if he's still interested after all this time since being here he must at least have some affection for the club. FFS I can't belive people who were so hell bent on removing Lowe/Wilde etc can now be so fussy about who they want to run the club! Have these people ever heard the old chestnut, beggars can't be choosers? We aren't exactly in a position to pick and choose who puts the cash into Saints. I for one would welcome Souness at our club if he's prepared to put his money where his mouth is, unlike all the previous tyre kickers.

Quite right and as he fell out with Lowe, it is unlikely that any Souness consortium would include him. I mean Wilde fell out with Lowe and.......Oh!

Either Souness or Merrington would be a huge improvement on what we've had recently.

The last thing we need is for us to get so picky that we discourage good people from investing in our club.

Duncan wont mind me saying this, but he did say on Saturday that now he couldn't ever see Lowe returning in any way...but then he admitted he had said that this time last year! ;-)

TBH, I cant see it, of the three, he is actually the one who will have emerged with less of a loss, compared to CRouch (2mil) and Wilde (1.8mil) - I suspect That CRpuch may well dip his toe in again as part of a consortium, but which one is anyones guess...

Rupes did say at the end of his interview last week that he didn`t regret coming back and would do it again! This could get to be like "Halloween" or "Scream" where you think that the villain is dead but they turn up again for the sequel!

Doont even go there, some on here willbe having a heart attack just on that snippet! ;-)

All this talk of who we'd rather have is largely irrelevant at the moment. If someone doesn't stump up a large wad of cash soon, SFC will cease to exist. That is the sad, unpalatable truth. As usual, I expect the fans opinions to be the last to be considered.

You are of course quite right, but it doesn`t do any harm to have a bit of light relief in these trying times.

Souness and Kennedy would be welcome.

As someone said any genuine bid will do the job to keep us afloat.

Still on Salz to front genuine group.

As with all these type of bids......complete unknown coming up the rails at 100/1 in Red and White Stripes.

I have known GS for many many years.

I have not spoken with him for a while but the consortium he has often worked with in the past are big guns from dubai, infact GS spends most of his time there now hence why we have not been in touch.

If its GS then rest assured there will be a big chequebook on the table at SFC !

Dont look on it as A GS bid(Although he has enough cash to bid alone),Its more of a UAE bid;)

Here thankyou.

Now let's see, there are 1.8 million people in Dubai.

Should be easy to track down his mate & get the details then from that info

Oh and in case anyone hasn't noticed, Duabi Inc went bust about 5 weeks ago and got bailed out by Abu Dhabi who are now pulling the strings quietly and allegedly and who already have their own train set

If it were to be Souness, then that would be quite ironic ...

If I remember correvtly, he was the First "Quality" Manager hired by Lowe

When Souness went to Lowe, to discuss Funds for Pre season purchases, Lowe literally offerred him Peanuts to buy Two or Three players, let alone One decent one .......... Souness decided he'd had enough and left.

So, if he comes back now, to, in effect, take the place of Lowe The Arrogant, then I'm sure he will have a quiet chuckle.

:p:eek: e
