gaz Posted 4 April, 2009 Posted 4 April, 2009 Right, probs gonna get slated for this, but sod it. I don't think the majority of the players we've fielded have been good enough for the CCC. People have said ''but they are young'' and ''they need experience'' but, I don't honestly think that we've had a Championship-level side to put out. Don't gte me wrong, its not the sole reason. RL's cheapskate youth policy and tactical ineptness has cost us dearly this year, but also has having players that just aren't up to CCC standards is a pretty big reason too (bar a few exceptions - step forwards KD). But, its all academic to point fingers now. I doubt it, but if we go down and can't bring in anyone, and by some miricle we can hang on to like likes of Surman, Lallana, etc (I know, very unlikely), what are the chances that L1 is their natural ability level? Thats assuming we go down though. COYR!
Plumstead_Saint Posted 4 April, 2009 Posted 4 April, 2009 So who would you say IS good enough? Davis, Euell, Perry, Saesj, Skacel, who else?
70's Mike Posted 4 April, 2009 Posted 4 April, 2009 after watching him today Lallana will be going no where
corsacar saint Posted 4 April, 2009 Posted 4 April, 2009 The table does not lie, however persevering with youngsters as long as we did, was never likely to end up any other way than it unfortunately has.
Dicko Posted 4 April, 2009 Posted 4 April, 2009 This doesn't seem a good time to be analysing and potentially slating our young players However, Lallana has really gone backwards as the seasons progressed
slickmick Posted 4 April, 2009 Posted 4 April, 2009 Surman is so over rated. We played so much better when he was taken off.
Mr X Posted 4 April, 2009 Posted 4 April, 2009 So who would you say IS good enough? Davis, Euell, Perry, Saesj, Skacel, who else? Skacel was pretty awful today got out muscled down the wing and was too slow to the ball every time. Way overated but tbf noone looked that good today other then davis's making some good saves.
sperm_john Posted 4 April, 2009 Posted 4 April, 2009 I have to say, I thought Thomson was way out of his depth all game, and pretty much at fault for the 3rd goal ...in terms of ability, hes not a right back, bit dissappointed that it took Wotte so long to realise this, also, if BWP scores goals for us, why does he always start on the bench? hes one of our players with pace ....
egreog Posted 4 April, 2009 Posted 4 April, 2009 When the inevitable drop comes in a few weeks the "new owners" whoever they may be will probably need a totally clean slate to work with...........apart from KD I would let the rest of this sorry bunch of "professional footballers" leave the club and start totally from a clean sheet................build a team with the grit, backbone and personalities needed to get out of Division 3 and discard the present wasters.........
ooh it's a corner Posted 4 April, 2009 Posted 4 April, 2009 I'm sorry but Rudi Skacel is not going to hang around, thankfully. How many of us would have sold Surman for the 2-3m that was reportedly being offered a while back? I would, he has no pace. Wotton left Plymouth, hmmmmm, probably because they knew he was woeful. Euell is a decent enough player, but certainly not worth what we are paying him. Cant see him staying next season. Kelvin Davis is obviously worth keeping, but not sure that we will be able to hang on to him Seijs I like, I would keep him as I would Perry. Gillet in the middle, but lose everyone else.
sidthesquid Posted 4 April, 2009 Posted 4 April, 2009 I find myself defending the kids yet again. Anyone who watched Euell, Skacel or Saga today knows how poor they really are. Other clubs know it, too, which is why we can't shift them on. Now Rupert has gone there is no need to keep bigging up the senior pros & running down the kids. All of the big-money senior pros - including BWP (but excluding Perry - who isn't on big money anyway - & Davis) have been the cause of our problems over the last two seasons, not the solutions. I do not believe that Paterson or Gobern or any of the others could have been worse than the above. Also, there is a chance they will yet come good, like Gillett & James & McG have this season. It ain't gonna happen for Skacel, Euell or Saga, that is for certain
Dicko Posted 4 April, 2009 Posted 4 April, 2009 I admit to slightly changing my mind on DMG, he's a better player than I thought earlier in the season Unlike some posters though, I still don't rate Gillett

Dicko Posted 4 April, 2009 Posted 4 April, 2009 Gillett was useless today. It was one of the few matches where he made few mistakes:D I was obviously talking in general lolol
