SaintRobbie Posted 5 April, 2009 Share Posted 5 April, 2009 My worry is that we'll struggle next season. in Div. 1 Anyone who just watched the Johnstons Paint Trophy between Luton and S****horpe knows that - both teams outshone Wotte's team of yesterday. CHUFFED FOR LUTON by the way. I hope we sell as many youth players as we bring in men.
John Boy Saint Posted 5 April, 2009 Share Posted 5 April, 2009 If we keep DMG, he could well be a top scorer in League 1, has certainly grown on me under Wotte. Smith and BWP looked bright when they came on, but apart from that, not much to shout about. I felt sorry for Jake Thomson, he is not a right back, yet due to seasons of incompetence, we are left with just the 1 RB. Smith was on the whole like a Pork Pie at a Jewish wedding for much of the time when he came on and left Jake more exposed than he was when Lallana was on the pitch, he seemed reluctant to track back. I think that's harsh. He posed much more of an attacking threat than Lallana managed in the previous 70 minutes and at two goals behind, frankly I couldn't care less if he didn't track back much. eelpie Posted 6 April, 2009 Share Posted 6 April, 2009 I don't normally post after games but just wanted to express my feelings and thoughts for once. The crowd turned up, we had the call for support from Leon and Lawrie, the Northam end gave it all they could before the start of the game and then we kicked off.................................. The team was poor and deserved to lose - we gave them all the room they needed in midfield to exploit our defense. They came down the right, they came the left and through the middle. Nobody tracked back but somehow whenever we hoofed the ball out of defence they won ! The long ball to Jason was overused and they always had enough players in defense to pick up any ball he did mange to win. I don't want to dwell on any particular player but rather the complete lack of cohesion and understanding within the team. Charlton played as a team and always looked like scoring when they came forward - whereas I saw Kelvin scream at the team at least twice after near misses. Yesterday I left the ground and for the first time felt that we're going down (even if we're not docked 10 points by the FA). My worry is that we'll struggle next season. in Div. 1 Appalling tactical nous and team preparation by Wotte. What was he thinking of?
Eastcowzer Posted 6 April, 2009 Share Posted 6 April, 2009 Can someone nominate the worst players to leave out of the MOTM poll. Have no idea who played well. Well you could start with DMG. Scored a goal, knocked off, and then disappeared.
OldNick Posted 6 April, 2009 Share Posted 6 April, 2009 Well you could start with DMG. Scored a goal, knocked off, and then disappeared.he was far superior than any of our other attacking midfield players and fought to try and get something.. You should be showing your frustration on Saga who was poor.

Whitey Grandad Posted 6 April, 2009 Share Posted 6 April, 2009 Can't remember saga doing anything of note the whole game? ............. anybody? He cut inside a defender and then slashed the ball wildly for a throw-in with two of our lads open in front of goal. Apart from that, he ran around a lot. Apart from that, he ran around a lot. I thought he put a lot of running in, which impressed me, but no he didn't do alot TBH, and the shot was aweful. It has to be noted though that the service was crap, Charltons CB's seemed able to deal with everything in the air but we kept playing the long ball anyway. What we needed was to stretch the middle and play down the flanks and then attack the box, by the time it was realised it was too late.
Chez Posted 6 April, 2009 Share Posted 6 April, 2009 He has and always will be a good finisher and that is it. Unless he scores he does nothing.
trousers Posted 7 April, 2009 Share Posted 7 April, 2009 I know there are merits in staying positive but what planet is Wotte on exactly? Planet Understatement?! http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/4268708.Defeat_is_not_a_knockout_blow__says_Wotte/ MARK Wotte insists Saints’ 3-2 St Mary’s defeat to bottom club Charlton is “not a knockout blow, it’s just a setback.”
