Serious ****ing respect if this is true.

Davis and Euell are acting as model pros and should be commended for their actions.

COYR!

It's really too much to think that Gavin Davis and the likes of David Frost have waited for 12+ years to invest in Saints. It would be excellent, but Davies has been wooed by Arsenal for loads of years now.

It would be great though. He's still very respected, and carries a real body of rich, sport loving friends around him. And I'd hope he'd leave a little niche for Leon Crouch to spend a few quid so that he could provide a positive link out of the despair.

See what happens when you take RL out of the equation..? Sadly, for better or worse, Michael Wilde has been tainted with that same brush, and one which I don't think he'll ever remove himself from.

Never mind. Positive thoughts. BTW, Well done Davis and Euell, if true. Drop in the ocean, but excellent gesture all the same.

Agree with that, great to see the players willing to help out

absolutely the very best, wow, if true then these two are absolutely comendable.

Fair play to them, i know everyone says about footballers wages but it is different circumstances, would you forfeit wages ??

I really hope this is right. All credit to Davis and Euell - a fantastic response to the situation.

All the more remarkable given the general abuse and cr%p these two in particular have taken from the crowd a year or so ago.

When we were 0-1 down to the Blades last year it was Euell that kept playing football when the others were starting to lose belief. He kept us up more than anyone that day and I reckon if this is true it may be the spark we need pull us out of the bottom three.

Nice story - the whole atmosphere around the club seems to be changing for the better , in the last few days we've seen fans/players/ex shareholders all pulling in the same direction for once in a effort to save the club from oblivion . It's a pity we had to fall this low(e) for this sense of unity to reappear but there you go .

On the main point of the story if £5m is all it will take to clear the stadium debt with Norwich Union than surely that will be a done deal before very long - that kind of number counts as little more than small change these days even during a recession .

Years ago I read in Who's Who that one of Gavyn Davies lifetime ambitions was to be Chairman of SFC. He is still a Season Ticket holder I believe, although he doesn't attend games. His Mum lives/lived in Bitterne Park also.

The reason he has laid low (sic) is because of his severe disliking of Rupert Lowe. Was it not Davies consortium who were in the running before the debacle that saw the reverse takeover? I remember reading he would never put cash into Lowes pocket, which makes sense as to why he never mounted a bid whilst Lowe was still a shareholder.

Somebody told me yesterday, that Kelvin Davis asked Saints not to pay him for the remainder of the season

I didn't think it could possibly be true

Interesting to see if they'd take that or if they would want to have all the separate pieces sold off to get more...

Hmm also if Aviva have that in mind, does that make us a toxic debt? Did they parcel us up and re-sell it?

Wonder which bank owns a piece of that carved up action - hope it's Barclays somewhere in the world!

Now THAT thought made me smile

Off subject, anyone know what time ticket office opens ? I cant open OS page.

9 am on saturdays

also an office at the Mayflower according to OS

they expect a sell out so be early

I would suggest that the Davies part of the story is the important bit. Good news but looks a bit of a punt. I know his mum still lives in the area. Be interesting to see if he's at the game today.

Not at the Mayflower. The Mayflower has a ticket office in West Quay, on the lower level not far from the Saints store. You can buy Saints tickets from there.

icon1.gif update

current figure (at just after 8am) is exactly 24,000 tickets sold for today.

We have 4200 tickets left to sell before all areas currently open are full. We would then have to see how far we could safely move into the "away" areas.

We should be open here at St Marys before 9am. The phone lines and online will be available until midday. The ticket desk in the Marlands will be available until kick off.

Players foregoing their wages and voluntarily - I'm shocked TBH as thats not seen a lot in todays game. Much respect to the pair of them.

Looking forward to todays game - big crowd etc.

Is it just me or does there seem to be a positive air about?

How ironic that two of the most maligned players on this forum are the two players who step up to the plate when the going gets tough. I hope all of those who slagged them off feel a twinge of guilt and will be on here today admiting so...

Oh, and I assume that defering of pay from a club that could cease to exist in a months time is virtually the same as giving the pay away...

Fair play to the both of them. Top, top, men

To be fair, Kelvin has been different class all season!! Fair play to Euelly as well, you can see him geeing players up!!! today is the day we fight back!!!!

Am I the only one thinking today's a bit like Return Of The Jedi?

I hope no ones pulls down Ted's statue in a fit of excitement......

Its not a case of feeling a twinge of guilt Daren. In the past i along with many have slagged both players off, Euell as recently as the last home game when i thought he was dreadful. As you well know football is all about opinions, this forum is to air those opinions and if slagging off a player or overly praising them is part of that process then so be it.

The bottom line is that if this is true these two men have shown what type of characters they are and for that they should rightly be applauded and they deserve the respect of every Saints fan like you and i who are desperate to see our great club not only survive but prosper.

Oh I agree that criticism of players is par for the course and no player chould be above that..

But Euell and Davis have been two players who have most singularly been picked on here and on occasion I feel unfairly.

If you dish it out, fine, how many of these armchair critics have the balls to say, "Sorry,I got it wrong"?

Not many, and in this case, these two players most definitely deserve a well earned round of applause... both on the pitch and off it...

Kelvin Davies is a real Saint.

Couple of years ago met him, he was busy but spent time talking and joking with my children, posing for photos despite my youngest playing up -he was a gent.

His professionalism and committment has been fautless for saints - even when being criticised.

Without him, we would be relegated already this season - and possibly bust already.

and now, in an era of greedy footballers he is putting the club, younger players and fans first.

Thank you Kelvin - always a saint.

Yeah! The Bastards!!

So would you give up your wages if the company you worked went into administration?? I dont think so. Get real, what KD and JE have done, if true is a wonderful gesture. Let's face it worst case senario, if the club goes under, they will not get paid!!

Far play to KD and JE

I agree. I was trying to make the the point that even when the news is positive, someone will always find a negative.

I agree with this Kelvin is class and has a genuine affection for the club fair play to Jason as well they are a shining example that the younger players can look up to UTS

Good on KD and JE

The sun article is interesting however, Arriva are okay re the stadium dept

which is 24.5 million.

The real problem that the Sun misses is the Barclay's debt of 4million.

It was they who have put us to the sword by withdrawing the overdraft facility and not Arriva

Fair play, but the article says they have deferred, not forfeited, their wages

How the F**k can you quibble about that!!

If we get taken over ad the club has the money to pay them why shouldn't they be paid.

They are taking a big risk in order to help out the club. If the club isn't sold there will be no money to pay them the wages that they have given up.

Would you give up your wages so that your colleagues could be paid instead?
