Right guys, have got a little idea that could raise some funds for the club.

I'm fortunate enough to know a current first-team player, and I asked him if he'd be able to get any signed memorabilia together to auction off on here to raise a bit of money.

He said it shouldn't be a problem, and he'd see what he could do. Said maybe a couple of signed footballs and a signed shirt or something like that is possible.

What I wanted to know, is who would be interested in stumping up a bit of cash for these items? Obviously I'd need to find a way to sort out logistics, but thought it would be a good idea to see what people's opinions are on it.

So, what are your thoughts?

I'm with Rattlehead. "Every little" is barely going to "help", and buckets and auctions and all that is not really going to make a blind bit of difference.

We need genuine investment.

You lot can sit in baths of baked beans and go on sponsored swims if you like but I think its a waste of time. Sorry.

Before kick off get Mike Osman as he often does on charity nights to do a head and tails, Last man standing wins... the rest going to club.

ie 24,000 paying £10 = £240,000 Winner £24,000 Club £216,000....be hard policing but could be fun!

Surely if everyone had this attitude then nothing would get done?

If we don't find investment then it will be the 'little' bits of money that us fans raise that will keep the club going, all be it temporarily.

Ah right, well that's good to hear.

Still, if anyone on here would be interested in the mentioned items, then I should be able to get my hands on them.

Will let people know though.

Sorry also, but you are deluded if you think this will make any difference. I admire your efforts, in a way, but it is a waste of time.

I also note that my earlier post seems to have vanished.

You really are a defeatist - have you no churchillian spirit at all - triumph in the face of adversity my friend - and that what does n't defeat us makes us stronger. Half full not half empty. I think the only two people being down beat on here are you and rattlehead -

We raise the dough between us - and then we either run with the model if it works or we get genuine investment but we need to keep the club alive in the short term. What needs to happen is to have all these great ideas channeled under one umbrella and quickly - something needs to be announced tomorrow so we can all rally together - on our own we are just whispers together we are a choir! So chin up my friend and embrace the world - smile at it and you will find it smiles back x

Collections and auctions won't change anything financially, however What it would show to investors is that our fans genuinely do care about the state of our club and we are doing what we can, however little that may be in the scheme of things, this together with some positive media attention could be benificial surely?
