Summers Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 Why? Cos its bloody profitable. Apart from the Beeb who don't like advertising, everyone else would know the stadium as the ''insert sponsor's name here'' St Mary's stadium, and whilst the name is not synopsimous with the football club, would it really matter? Whore the club out... Does it matter how we make money now?
Arizona Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 Well "The Friends Provident St Mary's Stadium" was refered to as "St Mary's" by almost every media organistation out there, hence Flybe didn't take it up when they became our primary sponsor. It would have to be, "The Flybe Stadium" or nothing.
trousers Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 As an aside, when does the current Flybe sponsorship deal come to an end?
krissyboy31 Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 As an aside, when does the current Flybe sponsorship deal come to an end? I think they extended it.
Arizona Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 As an aside, when does the current Flybe sponsorship deal come to an end? The original deal runs out at the end of this season http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/search/?mode=movenav&page_id=6815 It was extended until June 2010 earlier this year http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/?page_id=11064

I guess that's reassuring for any new owners and/or the Administrators.
Saint_clark Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 I think they extended it. Regretting it now, no doubt.
Arizona Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 Regretting it now, no doubt. Why? Southampton are all over the media and there's talk of a full house on Saturday. Flybe wouldn't have paid all the sponsorship money up front. If we go under they will just stop paying us and walk away.
NickG Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 naming rights stopped cardiff going into administration
Summers Posted 2 April, 2009 Author Posted 2 April, 2009 Well, with my knowledge of stadium sponsorship naming rights, its not a pittance. My example - Wycombe Wanderers, without a massive story, in 2002 the club was desperate for a sponsor and offered naming rights as part of the package, which was bought by Causeway Technologies for £250k. The shirt sponsorship deal the club did was only worth circa £120,000 with Loans.co.uk Every little helps..

Whore the club out... Does it matter how we make money now? We should hand the stadium back fullstop to pay off some of the debt, play at staplewood or the common till we can afford to re-build a dell
Dog Posted 3 April, 2009 Posted 3 April, 2009 Sell the stadium as scrap? With the current value of steel, we could fetch a bomb?
Mr X Posted 3 April, 2009 Posted 3 April, 2009 Sell the stadium as scrap? With the current value of steel, we could fetch a bomb? What percentage of it is steel?
This Charming Man Posted 3 April, 2009 Posted 3 April, 2009 Friends Provident cut the stadium sponsorship short as it was a massive waste of money and they got zero benefit out of it, I doubt any others are going to take it up or at least for a decent sum, especially the way we're going.

Frank Adams was a former player, administrator and patron of WW.
bridge too far Posted 3 April, 2009 Posted 3 April, 2009 How about 'the Madonna' stadium? She could adopt us instead. Oh OK
a1ex2001 Posted 3 April, 2009 Posted 3 April, 2009 If we dropped the St Marys it could work, much like Arsenals Emirates Stadium might not be worth much but for a couple of hundred K I wouldn't mind us playing at the Flybe Arena or even the Durex dump provided they stump up some readies.
