TijuanaTim Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 Believe me as removed as I may seem, trying my bollo¢ks off over here...so what can we do? All of us, this place is full of doom very understandably, however, it won't help. So come on add suggestions to this list. 1. Support the team passionately and go to SMS (will try to get back again myself before the end of the season). 2. Talk to everyone you possibly can about the positive side to Southampton FC, be focused, don't be put off, talk them up. It could have an enormous 'knock-on' effect. 3. Buy everything in the damn Saints store...hey it may become 'collectable' (clutching at straws maybe). 4. Encourage all those around you to get behind their local team. Come on add more here...let's get 32,000 + in that em-effer at the weekend and make it a living hell for Charlton and subsequent visitors...It'll make a statement about the true 'Spirit Of Southampton' fans....you are awesome FFS!! Phoenix time fellow Saints!!
PaulSaint Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 TT Could you post a few hundred "Club for sale" leaflets in Beverley Hills, its only a few hours by car?

I've put a note on our Bulletin board at Skandia to encourage people to go as often until the end of the season, and also sent an e-mail to my whole department to encourage them to go to as many games/put as much money into the club as possible. I am properly **** scared at this, I have the worst feeling that I am losing my club.
Solent2191 Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 Read this.... http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_5134980,00.html Bad Bad news... What happens if Southampton Football club just ceases to exist. What then??! FFS!
TijuanaTim Posted 2 April, 2009 Author Posted 2 April, 2009 Read this.... Bad Bad news... What happens if Southampton Football club just ceases to exist. What then??! FFS! Fair enough, but we want encouraging things that we can do....get some people down SMS FFS
Saint dyer Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 its no longer a game...its a matter of existence....im telling everone i know, if they care just 1% for saints....get down there saturday. COYR
hypochondriac Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 Hopefully the next few games will be packed and we can advertise the club that way. Good luck with finding a buyer Tim, there is never a better time to buy us now (plus any buyer will become a god amongst men in Southampton!)
TijuanaTim Posted 2 April, 2009 Author Posted 2 April, 2009 TT Could you post a few hundred "Club for sale" leaflets in Beverley Hills, its only a few hours by car? Irony mate.....much truth in jest, I move with some pretty influencial people as many on here will testify and have been ringing them off the hook, doing lunches - dinners, just about everything I can short of blowing them FFS....here's the punchlines, it's a 'credit crunch' and things 'move slowly'....can't remember the last time I had eight hours sleep. I am just one person, you can all do this if you love Saints. Very important we don't get pist off with or alienate anyone e.g. Americans, Middle Easterners etc...especially on the net, it's called the World Wide Web for a reason. Come on, 'Heads-up'....think, what more can we do.

Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 Ok, can anyone set up some sort of collection and get a MASS message out to people of Southampton and the surrounding areas. Even £5 each would be massive. Don't forget there are a lot of businesses that do rely to an extent on the football club for business. Start a Facebook group and make sure that everyone sends it to everyone.
clanger Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 I'm going to write to Richard Branson, he needs to branch out into football. Job done.
Loyal Saint Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 Good post Tim. Points 1 & 4 are the least us fans can do in our predicament
Griffo Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 I wrote into SSN encouraging all saints fans to come along and do whatever they can, I haven't watched since but I doubt that would have been read out.
Icey Saint Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 not sure how it worked but just before Fulham nearly went bust, my brother purchased a small commemorative (sp*) brick with the inscription something like "i helped save Fulham Football Club" he paid a tenner for it, dunno who can get the wheels in motion and then arrange for the selling of them but i'd happily arrive early at any home game and sell them gotta do something cant let this club die GOD i'm gonna break down SOUTHAMPTON TIL I DIE !!!! BTW - when uncle Mo took over at Fulham my bro got his tenner back
TijuanaTim Posted 2 April, 2009 Author Posted 2 April, 2009 Blow them if you need to Tim... Does anybody know any of the former Saints players because they'll know people in the game. Getting my knee pads now mate... ;-) No, honestly you lot are great...look at the great feedback already!! I think the www, e-mail and most of all personal contact moving powerful, positive feeling onward and upward can really help. It costs us nothing in most cases and can start something good. If each one of us only tries one tenth of one percent more it can help!!
TijuanaTim Posted 2 April, 2009 Author Posted 2 April, 2009 I'm going to write to Richard Branson, he needs to branch out into football. Job done. Great!! If you don't ask, you don't find out.
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 Mods, can we PLEASE make this a sticky. ANY ideas, however stupid, we have to think. Can we get e-mail addresses of people like Salz etc? Any footballers that could put is in contact with people like Le Tiss, Channon etc. I know someone who's husband is friends with Claus and Dodd, but she left work a while ago and I don't know how to get in contact with her. I'll try at work tomorrow.

TijuanaTim Posted 2 April, 2009 Author Posted 2 April, 2009 My problem with 'ex-players that I know' is Big Ron, as dearly beloved as he is - is brass lint and Paul Cahill is a skate and could give a rat's @rse about Southampton.. :-( But all those that have done so well out of our more 'halcyon' days should offer help, gaffers like Lawrie Mac and WGS included...so yeah get the groundswell going!! Any positive press whatsoever is valuable.
Griffo Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 I've written to the 'contact us' part on the Soccer AM website. If any others could do this too maybe a little something can be said or done, seen as the show is viewed by mainly football fans who most would have some sympathy or feeling for our situation.

Did you get any response mate? Excellent idea. I see the 'facebook' site is also up and running. Is there any mileage in similar Twitter and My Space efforts I wonder?

slickmick Posted 3 April, 2009 Posted 3 April, 2009 Could we charge more for the last few games ? What about the National Lottery ? They donate to various organisations, charities ect.
TijuanaTim Posted 3 April, 2009 Author Posted 3 April, 2009 TIM YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU! get yourself over ere . Thanks Stan, you know I think the World of you mate, so I really appreciate that. However it would be a little 'non-value-added' right at this moment as I can do way more good here. Believe me I'd rather be with you, Kadie etc Saturday as we fill that stadium and stuff the Addicks...but I'm gonna keep chasing stuff here.
Griffo Posted 3 April, 2009 Posted 3 April, 2009 Well I did it from my Msn account, and won't get a chance to have a look for a reply until tonight. Will post any reply. No reply. Presume I won't be getting anything back. If more people could contact Soccer AM though, maybe. There's a 'contact us' bit on their homepage at the top.
sperm_john Posted 3 April, 2009 Posted 3 April, 2009 just a last minute thought, does anyone know anyone who can play the trumpet??? a band or trumpet playing oh when the saints would really ring home tomorow, they could play outside the stadium and inside, would be pretty kick ass, and dont think its ever happened down SMS, they do it at the england games so cant see why instruments would be banned, surely someone must know a trumpeter or someone with one of those drums that can be carried??? make it happen!

It is awful. Sounds awful at England games and would sound the same at SMS. We can make a quality atmosphere ourselves. One thing it certainly isn't is 'kick ass'.

Well you're certainly not a 'waste of a sperm' mate...that is a terrific idea. Anything that draws any positive attention toward Saints is a plus (and I don't mean red 'n' white versions of JPFCW either FFS). Someone get this man a brass section, can't be that hard to find in a musical, football loving town.
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 3 April, 2009 Posted 3 April, 2009 Ok guys, just received this message through the Facebook group about a way to raise money for Southampton. What does everyone think. This may be a winner. You may be aware that we have been running a fundraising campaign in association with the Utility Warehouse. They’re a FTSE-250 listed company and have just won a "Best Buy" recommendation from Which? magazine. But unlike most fundraising campaigns, this one won’t cost you anything to take part - in fact, you’ll actually be better off too! This new 3 minute video starring French and Saunders will give you a better idea of what the Utility Warehouse is all about - simply click on this link and let me know what you think: http://www.uwdcvideos.co.uk/?exref=C74560 Every supporter of your cause who joins saves money on their bills - and then you receive a percentage of what they have spent every month. Luton Town FC are raising funds using this initiative - http://www.hatterscfr.co.uk/ Please give me a call if you would like me to come and explain more to you
TijuanaTim Posted 3 April, 2009 Author Posted 3 April, 2009 It is awful. Sounds awful at England games and would sound the same at SMS. We can make a quality atmosphere ourselves. One thing it certainly isn't is 'kick ass'. Slight disagreement, it's not 'awful', rather it's not cool...but it could have a positive effect to on-lookers and help encourage others.
