saints_is_the_south Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 Couldn't think where else to put this so what the heck might as well open a new thread, everyone else seems to be doing it! I sent this to David Luker earlier & got the following response. Hi David I was just wondering given the now perilous position of SFC has anybody at the club started coming up with fundraising ideas? I noticed that when Darlington went into administration they set up a text message service where fans could text in & money would be donated to the club via this. Also how about donation buckets being given to the stewards or programme sellers on Saturday? This is obviously pretty desperate times & with only 24 days to save Saints from being extinct surely it’s time to get the ball rolling now? Cheers Reply: Hi Lee We should be meeting this afternoon to try and define the best way forward. Once a decision has been made, the official site will be the first place to cover it. In the interim, we can only ask every supporter to try and make this Saturday’s fixture versus Charlton. This is now essential. Best wishes David Any other ideas apart from donation buckets or text message service (which i admittedly took from another posters thread)? As David said, for now all we can do is get to St Marys on Saturday. A full house is a MUST imo.
Barfy Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 Now they've left, we could have an auction for Lowe & Wilde's seats?

ooohTerryHurlock Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 Everyone puts in a days salary?? Players fans and staff - shoud add up to a bit - keep us going for a couple of weeks. Also everyone is doing the same regardless of job income or anything.
PaulSaint Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 Everyone puts in a days salary?? Players fans and staff - shoud add up to a bit - keep us going for a couple of weeks. Also everyone is doing the same regardless of job income or anything. Good idea bud, get the Echo involved & it could take off?
The Fat Controller Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 I think we should all turn up and pay full price for our tickets, and get the players and management to donate a weeks wages to the cause of keeping the club going. Long term it appears we need a major concert this summer arranged pronto to get some majorly needed finances in and a massive friendly against a big team.
Spades Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 Besides just filling the stadium, could we try to recreate the atmosphere of the red and white days in the premiership with everyone wearing the shirt, red and white balloons etc. Gives support and shows what the club means to us. Perhaps another mosaic for the palace game something like "save our saints". I like that... on the kingsland a big S.O.S held up by the fans.
Give it to Ron Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 What about 5 year ST's..transferable to relatives on life events.
SimonRichards Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 A Gala dinner with the squad from 76. Charity concert at SMS. Invite national teams to use the Stadium for an exhibition match (Poland would be a good one)
miss_biscuits Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 I like that... on the kingsland a big S.O.S held up by the fans. Yeh i like this too, good idea
northam soul Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 Stop selling football shirts at half price with free match tickets is probably a good start.
Griffo Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 I've written to SSN to try get a message read out but I presume it won't be. Also I've written to Soccer AM to see if something can be mentioned due to a a vast majority of football fans watching the programme, most who would presumably have a great deal of sympathy for our situation.
Shrek Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 I've just been to SMS and there's some "Save our Saints" deals on already...signed balls for £200 (I think), signed shirts etc. Also, for info, over 20,000 tickets have already sold for Saturday with most of the Itchen sold out
Rooster Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 I will miss my normal pub and drink and eat as much as I can in stadium-not much but all adds up! On the plus side now lowes gone I shall renew my season ticket next year! FACT
Golden Balls Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 All eating and drinking to take place INSIDE the stadium! I like the text idea!!! Buy a shirt, a programme and a flag obviously fill SMS Support the team and sing your hearts out!!!
TheSaint75 Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 What bands could we ask to play a charity event with donations to the club, The delays, Coldplay matey might be able persuade the others, anyone else?
ooohTerryHurlock Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 What bands could we ask to play a charity event with donations to the club, The delays, Coldplay matey might be able persuade the others, anyone else? The Artful Dodger is a huge saints fan + David Gray is meant to be. Howard Jones - Graig David... could be quite a good day!
EBS1980 Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 Only problem is we have 24 days to get takenover otherwise non of these are going to be able to happen. We just gotta pray someone, somewhere wants to buy us.
SimonRichards Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 All eating and drinking to take place INSIDE the stadium! I may be wrong, but.... I think the food outlets inside the stadium are run by a different company (FMC I think) and they run the catering at SFC
saints_is_the_south Posted 3 April, 2009 Author Posted 3 April, 2009 Just heard from David Luker & he said the club hope to have fundraising ideas published on the OS at some stage today.
saints_is_the_south Posted 3 April, 2009 Author Posted 3 April, 2009 Just had the following email from David: Lee We will try and get some buckets outside the ground tomorrow. We will also be asking supporters to make donations when they buy tickets. This can be done in person (at St Marys) or via the booking line Hopefully, we’ll get more ideas going very soon David Luker Head of Supporter Services Save Our Saints Donate any sum when you buy tickets. Ask the sales advisor for details
Danny R Posted 3 April, 2009 Posted 3 April, 2009 What bands could we ask to play a charity event with donations to the club, The delays, Coldplay matey might be able persuade the others, anyone else? It's a good idea. My brother is the drummer in Delays and would certainly be up for it. They could only do a guildhall size venue, nothing bigger but everything helps.
