Bailey Posted 23 August, 2008 Share Posted 23 August, 2008 Lallana is a class act and has the ability to turn the game in our favour. His vision, trickery and passing ability really is top draw and he is a very exciting player to have in the side. I just hope we can tie him down to a long term contract soon. His current deal runs out at the end of the season so fingers crossed Rupert is in the process of putting a new deal together. I don't think I could take it if we lost him for nothing come the end of the season.

Just about finding a wage level acceptable to Adam and the club. Mr Lowe has a high regard for Adam and even sorted out an urgent hernia operation with one of the top specialists before the season started so he would be fit to start. Andy_Porter Posted 23 August, 2008 Share Posted 23 August, 2008 He was brilliant. One of the best individual performances I've seen in a Saints shirt in well over a year. I really hate the fact we had Gillett and Lallana sat in the reserves all last season while we insisted on playing **** like Idiakez, Viafara, Wright etc because the manager(s) where all too afraid to drop the big names. Give it to Ron Posted 24 August, 2008 Share Posted 24 August, 2008 I remember up at Kickers in Eastleigh they had a picture of Lallana as one of the young academy lads 3 or 4 years ago. He has a big part to play this year and I hope he doesn't suffer a re-occurence of his hamstring injury that plagued him last year. The good thing with the young lads like Adam, Simon, McGoldrick, Surman, Thomson is that they know each others game so well and unlike most seasons we actually have a squad of players that have played together for a few years. Wes Tender Posted 28 August, 2008 Share Posted 28 August, 2008 Lets just hope it happens but this is Saints' date=' 2 steps forward 1 back throughout its history.[/quote'] Agreed that its been 2 steps forward one back through most of our history. But in the past few years it has been 1 step forward, two back. Being Saints and without being run by anybody with any serious cash, it will be sod's law that home grown players like Lallana and Gillett will be off as soon as the temptation of playing for mega bucks in the Premiership rears its ugly head. Our only hope is that we ourselves get back soon into the land flowing with milk and honey and they might decide to stay.
pedg Posted 28 August, 2008 Share Posted 28 August, 2008 Lets just hope it happens but this is Saints' date=' 2 steps forward 1 back throughout its history.[/quote'] That's far to simple, I think its been more like: 2 steps forward, 3 hops to the left, 2 skips to the south east, a cartwheel north and 1 step backwards. Junior Mullet Posted 28 August, 2008 Share Posted 28 August, 2008 I've watched him play in the U.18's and ressies lots of times and I can honestly say that IMO he is a more effective attacking threat than Theo ever was. He may not have Theo's sheer pace and acceleration but he has more footballing intellegence than Theo ever will and more trickery. His finishing is first rate also. I want to avoid comparing him to a young MLT but it is difficult not to. We don't often see someone for Saints playing with flair and natural ability in the middle of the park like this. Lallana will step up to England U.21's soon I would think.
