scott_saints Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 who would you support? Would you be a neutral? Lose interest in football? I wouldn't ever be able to support another team so I think I may lose nearly all interest in football. (I don't think it will happen.....just thinking of worst case scenario)
SaintRobbie Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 We wont - we're all going to find a buyer for Saints. Let's do it! Moments come now.
scott_saints Posted 2 April, 2009 Author Posted 2 April, 2009 Wouldn't be the same watching a team that always wins and has loads of money. Give me the s**t that is SFC anyday
Tac-tics Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 I dont think it will happen but it'll go right to the wire. I allways keep an eye out for Bournemouth but ill support the "afc wimbledon" of saints if it does happen.
trousers Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 There will always be a "Southampton Football Club" in some shape or form so I'll support them.
slickmick Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 If we did disappear, this forum would also disappear. Then what would we do ?
St.Patrik Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 If we did disappear, this forum would also disappear. Then what would we do ? Work perhaps....
Spades Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 id support AFC Southampton... or if that wasnt to be... Eastleigh
londonsaint1604 Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 My local non-league side Bromley, although as mentioned we could set up an AFC Southampton club similar to AFC Wimbledon or FC United.
Rational Rich Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 I'd go and watch Man Utd, couldn't say I'd support them though. Once the emotion has gone, you're purely buying a product and so you may as well buy the best (and in my case the nearest!)
del boy Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 If we did disappear, this forum would also disappear. Then what would we do ? Other mediums for proving that one is the most passionate Saints fan, know more than everyone else, and always did, probably exist.
eelpie Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 If current and previous supporters unite behind the club, and prove to the world how strong and numerous Saints following really is, we will survive! There is no alternative
BadgerBadger Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 I'd have to find another reason to wander into town to start drinking at 13:00 stop for a few hours and watch something that could be really exciting or could be like watching paint dry and then return to a pub and continue drinking.
Psycrow Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 If we do have to do the whole AFC wimbledon thing, lets choose a decent name. FC United is the stupidest name for a football team I've ever heard in my life.. Might as well have called themselves Athletic Wanderers
londonsaint1604 Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 **** off we all know you'd support Sparta Prague. No chance I'm Dukla Prague through and through. Vancouver Whitecaps ftw
O_RLY Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 There will always be a "Southampton Football Club" in some shape or form so I'll support them. Agreed.

FC United is the stupidest name for a football team I've ever heard in my life.. Might as well have called themselves Athletic Wanderers I think the full name is FC United of Manchester, which still sounds ****.
Clapham Saint Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 I'd rather it didn't come to it but I'd support AFC Southampton. Are they likely to need a Finance Director?
saints_is_the_south Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 I don't think i can even comprehend thinking about it at the moment!
Secret Site Agent Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 I would support Man Utd cos they win n stuff What like most 12 year olds at the moment?
Clapham Saint Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 Couldn't we just go for Southampton, followed by City/United/Rover/Athletic/Wanderers and so on. Then you get a more traditional name that can easily just be called "Southampton" or saints amongst fans. Could even take a vote on the second part of the name. I'd rather not be a united. Rovers or City IMO. Forest?
Clapham Saint Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 What would happen to st marys? Unless the council could find another use for it... Bulldozed (sp?) for flats or shops most likely.
londonsaint1604 Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 How about 'the new saints' or TNS for short?

Rovers or City IMO. Why not Southampton Saints AFC?
londonsaint1604 Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 If Southampton FC no longer exists, can't we just call it Southampton FC?
Toadhall Saint Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 I wouldn't be able to support anyone else. Ditto - Southampton born & bred, I'd feel like a traitor supporting anyone else.
nathan Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 Go back to the roots and call it Southampton St. Mary's?
Berkhamsted Saint Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 If current and previous supporters unite behind the club, and prove to the world how strong and numerous Saints following really is, we will survive! There is no alternative Yes there is. No one comes up with the money needed to save the club and the club are gone for good. We are in a credit crunch funding is difficult to get. Saints disappearing is a real possibility. I hope it doesnt happen but not to consider it as an option is naive.
Sheff Saint Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 A new Southampton side would be too big support wise and stroll through the non-leagues. We'll walk this league!
Rebel Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 why not just call it St Marys FC! Or go back to Southampton St Marys! Or merge with Trojans rugby and hocky clubs to form Trojans AC! AJax Amesterdam, Hercules (of Spain somewhere), Sparta Rotterdam, Blyth Spartans and Trojans of Southampton! After all SLH has been a bit like a Trojan Horse!
nick1579 Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 If Southampton FC no longer exists, can't we just call it Southampton FC? Cunning...
sandwichsaint Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 A new Southampton side would be too big support wise and stroll through the non-leagues. But it would take a while. AFC Wimbledon should be up to the conference next season and might challenge for a league place so it's definitely possible. If we could keep 5,000 or so hardcore fans we'd have more resources than anyone down there. But lets not let it come to that. We'll walk the feeder leagues....
Cricketphilly Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 Local sides are Fulham and AFC Wimbledon, but would probably poke football altogether.
J Bizzle Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 In all honesty i would shed a tear, SFC is my first love, and i will always be a saints fan and nothing else!
Baj Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 id support AFC Southampton... or if that wasnt to be... Eastleigh +1.
londonsaint1604 Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 Originally Posted by londonsaint1604 If Southampton FC no longer exists, can't we just call it Southampton FC? Cunning... It's a genuine question. Would we not be allowed to call it that or is it just that people would prefer a different name?
offix Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 Disappearance of this once great club is a very distinct possibility. I don't think I could ever really support/follow another club again.
South City Si Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 I suppose I would support Eastleigh as really they are my local club, we could convince them to use their away kit (red) as home kit, move back to their original home in Swaythling......
Dan Johnson Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 I'd probably start watching Eastleigh & take some interest in AFC Southampton if it came about, but quiet simply, it would NEVER EVER be the same I cant even think about it
gaz Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 Solent FC? Hampshire United? Southampton Academicals? Lincoln City or [ironically] Notts County/Forest are my locals, but I can't bring myself to support them.
sperm_john Posted 2 April, 2009 Posted 2 April, 2009 saints wont dissappear, dont be silly, as long as theres supporters theres a club
