OldNick Posted 1 April, 2009 Posted 1 April, 2009 Is this the same John Smith who vowed not to attend games whilst lowe was in charge. Don't you think you have contributed in some small way to the financial difficulties this club has had of meeting it's on going commitments? I hate to say I told you so but fans choosing to stay away because they disliked the chairman was only going to have one outcome. My view is that had we been able to keep attendances consistently at the 20k level then we may not have the cashflows problems we have now. Pledging your support now is most noble but depressingly empty gesture and what happens if Rupert remains in charge having struck a deal as well reasoned by Beer Engine on another thread? Personally, I prefer to stand shoulder to shoulder with those fans whom I've stood with all season. Your calls John of finding a common togetherness and we shall not be defeated are somewhat hollow from a person who like many others has contributed to the downfall of the club by stripping it of much needed revenue. As the club did what it could to reduce costs you and many others failed to support them from the word go in August and based purely on prejudice. The problem you have helped to create now is who will buy us with such a weak customer base. Look at the crowds teams like Derby, Norwich and Charlton are achieving and look at the their respective recent past and present problems. The stay aways who gave up on this club are contributory factors to the situation and I indeed hate to say I told you so but it was fairly obvious what would happen eventually without investment and dwindling revenues. We may or may not go into administration but bigger and more sympathetic and supportive crowds that recognised what the club were trying to do would have avoided todays events. 200,000 supporters on the Saints ticket database, where were you?[/QUOT Dear oh Dear 19C! Just ignore the ridiculous income Lowe awarded himself as chairman, the unnecessary dividends & share buy backs approved by him & criticise a Saints fan who does not want to contribute to Lowe's coffers. Get the big picture please. He did it this season - not the previous 10 since he arrived with his cronies. What else could he do? Keep paying & then have Lowe tell everyone how well he has done? Did you write the letter he held up at the AGM? There are many contibuters to our downfall, but the largest single reason is Rupert bl00dy Lowe. Then comes Wilde - the rest of us pale in to insignificance. I am another who has not been to St Mary's this year - the first time in 30 years & yes I am proud of it. Mind you I have been to 14 games away from home! I must be a really sh1t Saints fan! Corky, i think you have put up a good reason and can see that, but on the other hand by starving the club of finance is a self fullfilling prophacy. You are proved right that he is no good as you have not given funds to allow the club to function.Personally i dont agree that there are enough fans staying away due to Lowe that would make that much difference. If we go down many will not come back anyway as they will say they are not paying to watch L1 or pub football even though Lowe is not there.Unless we get a bi5t of success the gates will stay as they are.

OldNick Posted 1 April, 2009 Posted 1 April, 2009 Here we go....NC special....it all the fans fault!!!, those that chose to stay away, that is. The fact that your mate came back, has nothing to do with it:smt017. The fan base is still there, any buyer will know this, they will also know why fans are staying away. NC...you can dress it up any way you like, but it ultimately comes down to one man and his ego Ginge please explain the attendance for the FA cup game with Man u. Lowe was the ceo but we got a full house. To me it proves that the majority of fans go to see the top sides and games that may turn out to be train crashes, the rest they can't be bothered with. To fans like you and me and many on here it is not something we can understand but generally that is the case.
Gingeletiss Posted 1 April, 2009 Posted 1 April, 2009 NC, you are flogging a dead horse. i wish you had been here all along and tried to reason.I and others have tried that route but you only get back that you are a Lowe Luvvie and many were hoping that it comes to this so they could return. Nick.............how can you reason with those who are in the right. You keep coming back with the same old sh1te, but the facts speak for themselves, our position is not a lie, and at the back of all of this, stands one man..................................Lowe.

Winning brings success which bings bums on seats. Don't think a few stay=aways because of Lowe would have massively affected the gates.
corky morris Posted 1 April, 2009 Posted 1 April, 2009 When I go to watch Saints I take at least 2 of my boys & quite often my dad. My mate & his nipper, 4 of my clients & sometimes my nephew (who is really a Peterborough fan, but liked following Saints because of his mum - (my sister) & his cousins), but maybe they will be in the division above us next season?. There you go 10 or 11 straight back to SMS as soon as Lowe & Wilde F.O!
Gingeletiss Posted 1 April, 2009 Posted 1 April, 2009 Ginge please explain the attendance for the FA cup game with Man u. Answered time and time again........and nick, here's something else told time and time again. Lowe is the PLC Chairman.....Wilde is the club Chairman.
Mole Posted 1 April, 2009 Author Posted 1 April, 2009 NC, you are flogging a dead horse. i wish you had been here all along and tried to reason. With respect Nick people like you have been deluded and have given a false impression on the feeling towards Lowe. Lowe should never have been allowed back and it's people like you that gave Wilde encouragement to carry out his great betrayal. You Lowe supporters have a lot to answer for.
OldNick Posted 1 April, 2009 Posted 1 April, 2009 Nick.............how can you reason with those who are in the right. You keep coming back with the same old sh1te, but the facts speak for themselves, our position is not a lie, and at the back of all of this, stands one man..................................Lowe. Ginge, but it is not 1 man, that is what drives me to respond time and again. When will you see that not only Lowe is at fault. i put Askham higher, he was the man with the power that brought Lowe to the club in the first place, he had already overseen the trampling of the fans with Branfoot. He has been in the frame for 20years. RL is part of the cause, Prutton,Crouch, Claus and that team of lily livered so called professional footballers are another reason, the list goes on and on.
Clapham Saint Posted 1 April, 2009 Posted 1 April, 2009 We can disagree about Lowe and Crouch, but i don't think anyone disagrees about Wilde being an unmitigated disaster. My personal loathing is actually highest for this c u n t. :smt062 Surprised myself as I'm not a Lowe fan.
OldNick Posted 1 April, 2009 Posted 1 April, 2009 Answered time and time again........and nick, here's something else told time and time again. Lowe is the PLC Chairman.....Wilde is the club Chairman. Please answer again and dont say there were more Man u fans than saints fans on the day as that is patently untrue. As for the name titles it doesnt matter to me as i watch the football and the players are the ones with the names on the back and so it doesnt matter so much to me.
Topcat Posted 1 April, 2009 Posted 1 April, 2009 the so called Lowe supporters as I would be counted as i suspect have nothing to be sad about in doing so.I still believe that what he did stopped us from this even earlier and we still have not assertained what state the club was in when he took back the reins. This situation can be traced back to many other things that we have argued about for years. i will await for the results of this latest saga before getting too down. Nickh. After this action today, I really do not think you would be convinced that Lowe was mainly to blame ever. No matter what evidence would be presented, you still think the best of Lowe. Clearly you have faith in him no matter how many times he presides over a relegation, no matter whether the Club under his leadership goes into admin/liquidation or dies. Nothing can change your mind.... There are always some useful idiots that buy timeshares from snake oil salesmen convinced it was a bargain years after they were fleeced.
View From The Top Posted 1 April, 2009 Posted 1 April, 2009 The fans boycotting this club are on the verge of driving Lowe out for good. Well done everybody. SDB and the other luvvies can fu ck right off as far as I'm concerned. I hope they never set foot in SMS again the sanctimonious pr1cks.

Lowe should never have been allowed back and it's people like you that gave Wilde encouragement to carry out his great betrayal. You Lowe supporters have a lot to answer for. And your stance is so much more viable.....wish for admin, disregard the effect of relegation and assume (ie hope based on nothing at all) that something better will emerge from the ashes. Lots and lots of posts, very little grasp of anything material.

Sheff W c.19k Seems some of our fans wrote us off before a ball was kicked even taking into account the economic climate. I accept some fans are fickle and will walk away but stats show that the crowds actually got better between the long gloomy period of our 1st and 2nd home win and were on the slide before we beat Norwich at home in September. That suggests to me that constant losing at home is not the only factor and some walked away purely off the back of a personality in the boardroom and di so before a ball was kicked. Indefensible really for a true supporter who is able to afford to attend games but prefers to sulk dressed up as protest. Apart from those loyal fans who have continued to support at home games and did their bit to put revenue into the club the rest are reaping what they helped to sow.

Right, just so you don't think I am ignoring this bit of stupidity. At my place, there were many 'neutral' football fans, and many 'Man U' fans 'but I support Saints as well'. These all clamored to get tickets, as I suspect, did a lot of corporate people. I've no doubt some 'Saints' fans who hadn't been all season, also went...........but don't keep kidding your self.

Sadly it is easy to pigeon hole people without knowing them.I was always wary of Lowe from the beginning.I was pleased when he did good things and angry when he did bad.I v=belieeve he has taken the sh#### end of the stick and will forever be blamed by a percentage of fans who are unable to grasp that he is only a part of our demise. All the others who have sucked the club dry are getting away scott free and fans are too easily led to blame RL. RL should go buit so should all the rest.I have been consistant with this, and it would gall me to see the back of them only for another who has overseen the disaster sitting waving to the fans.

I've no doubt some 'Saints' fans who hadn't been all season, also went...........but don't keep kidding your self. When Man u scored there were only fans in their section celebrating, some in corporate and a few in the directors box. Therefore it is safe to say that 85% of the ground were Saints fans. If they turned up every game we would not have the problems we have now, but at the same time they are not not turning up due to Lowe but due to the glamour of the opponents. Also you could only get tcketsw if you were a S?T holder memeber and on the customer base.
broncoboy Posted 1 April, 2009 Posted 1 April, 2009 NickH for goodness sake give it a rest. We understand your point of view. The fans are to blame and Rupert could have saved the company if only others had not messed it up. The various boards took all the major decisions over the last five years to ten years. They should do what they can and then go. Guilty or not they sat on the board. They have lost the support of the majority of fans. Just go and give the club a chance to be reborn ffs

Just go and give the club a chance to be reborn ffs I dont think there is anybody that associates itself with the club who cannot take a small part of the blame.I myself would accept that by being vocally against Hoddle has been a cause(not that i regret it much) staying away cost the club revenue, bad managerial appointments again a major cost, the players too weak minded to allow 2 goal leads slip, getting sent off in 6 pointer games, not taking the ball to the corner flag were gain major issues. Not spending a lot on 1 player insead of a lot on many average players, keeping managers in their job too long, not moving from the Dell earlier, moving from the Dell, getting rid of Lowe ,reappointing Lowe. all those things have been instramental not just one person.

Yes, but I would also counter that maybe a lot of fans did not have much faith in the appointment of two unknown Dutch managers/coaches who were given the task of playing a mostly reserve/youth side because the Board had sold/loaned out a number of the remaining quality of the squad. I accept that they had to reduce costs but it was incredibly nieve of them to think we would score loads of goals without the services of Rasiak, John and Saganowski leaving just McGoldrick and Wright-Phillips who had not particularly shone in the goal scoring stakes of previous seasons.

Unlike many on here i wasn't deluded. I'm not happy the club is going to be relegated, but i'm ecstatic that Lowe, Wilde, Askham et al are losing millions. That is the only silver lining in all this, but it's better than nothing.
Capel Saint Posted 1 April, 2009 Posted 1 April, 2009 Unfortunately we as fans won't ever to get to see the real goings on behind the club which is rather a shame as it could settle a lot of arguments/differing of opinion that are raised on this messageboard.

Lets B Avenue Posted 1 April, 2009 Posted 1 April, 2009 Or, they supported Chelski, Arsenal, Spurs et al and went in the hope that Saints might cause an upset. I, myself, purchased about 20 tickets for friends and their kids, most of whom never or can't attend premier league matches. Nickh you keep trotting this same tired out dog of an excuse every other week and it needs to be put down for ever. Just because people didnt cheer a ManUre goal dosent automatically make them a Saints fan and they wont be turning up any day soon unless the "product" improves. And will someone tell 19 beast that Birmingham was the 1st game this season!!
up and away Posted 1 April, 2009 Posted 1 April, 2009 Good point, but Ruperts little pack of followers have been well and truely discredited. Perhaps Up and Away and co would like to apologise for being so wrong. You just do not have a clue. If we go into administration this will be because we totally wasted close to £40M over the last couple of years and more before. What do you think Lowe should have done, get even tougher with the high earners to moving on? Dressed the players up more to get some form of fee? Exactly how should he have tackled this financial crisis? This has been on the cards since we could not sell / move players since the begining of the season, guaranteed post the January window. Any idiot could see this coming apart from the total muppets, still advocating not to let these players go and play them more irrespective of the wage bill. The one good thing about all of this is that idiots like you will no longer have a purpose.

And will someone tell 19 beast that Birmingham was the 1st game this season!! Im glad you did purchase the tickets more money in the pot.I didnt realise that you could purchase that many. I agree the fans are staying away due to the glamour of the opposition and that saints have been dire at home.
saintjay77 Posted 1 April, 2009 Posted 1 April, 2009 As soon as Wilde brought Lowe back i said the club would go into Admin - I'M SOON TO BE PROVED RIGHT. Unlike many on here i wasn't deluded. I'm not happy the club is going to be relegated, but i'm ecstatic that Lowe, Wilde, Askham et al are losing millions. That is the only silver lining in all this, but it's better than nothing. LOL it must be fun living in your blinkered world. Lowe has been paid far more than he has put into the club so he wont be losing anything. And if the board manage to put the Holding company into Admin and leave the Football club out of it he along with the others will still be on the board and still have there slice. The biggest loser will be your luver Crouch as he stuffed a load of money into someone elses pocket for his shares and hasnt been with the club through its good times so wont have got anything back out of them. Over the past 4 years there have been a collection of mistakes from all parties involved but all these mistakes are more obvious with hindsight. GB being given the funds to go for promotion seemed a good idea at the time but failure meant we just hemeraged more money than we could afford. Leon blowing the Overdraft might well of kept us in the CCC by the skin of our teeth but maybe we should have taken the drop in league but remain in a better financial position to rebuild and push back up? I dont give a toss who's fault it is as there are too many to blame but the one possible good I can see coming from all this is that it looks like the board are trying to find last ditch investment which may only come in the form of someone buying the 3 goons out of the club. I cant see much chance of someone wanting to give any of them money to throw away so a proper takeover or bust is the only ways forward now.
Nineteen Canteen Posted 1 April, 2009 Posted 1 April, 2009 All very reasoned but we dont know what restrictions the cl87b were under. it may well be it was those players or nithing.I just wish thqat a detailed account could be publiushed so we qll could see what the club was up against and if Lowe was blatently making a foolhardy mistake or that was really the only route. FWIW Nick I think today's events clearly show that Lowe took the only route available to him. On the face of it some of the player / managerial decisions were odd but set against a financial background that few or any of us on this forum have been privvy to these were probably forced decisions whilst trying to add some positive angle i.e the Dutch / Youth approach. The detailed accounts and reports will make interesting reading but personally I'm looking forward to Duncan's new book 'The Damned Saints' and the film starring Leslie Grantham as Rupert Lowe, Adam Woodyat as Leon Crouch and Ray Brooks as Michael Wilde. Don't like to typecast but you've got the second comeback angle, the smug local businessman and the weird loser.
docker-p Posted 1 April, 2009 Posted 1 April, 2009 Lowe, in his own words, said he was coming back to protect his investment and the share price. He has failed. Anybody care to give me odds on Rupes admitting it?

"Odd"???? Thats tantamount to a criticism. It really is April Fools day.
Mole Posted 1 April, 2009 Author Posted 1 April, 2009 Isn't this the second of Lowes companies to go into administration? What a leader!
um pahars Posted 1 April, 2009 Posted 1 April, 2009 FWIW Nick I think today's events clearly show that Lowe took the only route available to him. Appointing Poortvliet wasn't the only option avaiable to him. I'm not really sure why people are still chipping away at each other as I understand tomorrow will show that Lowe has again failed us with the Club being put into administration. Whether or not points are deducted is a moot point and so although there is still an outside chance we will avoid relegation this econd stint by Lowe will also be recognised as another failure. We can dress it up however we like, some can even blame the grass roots suporters:rolleyes::rolleyes:, but once again it is those grass roots supporters who have been let down by those entrusted (and paid) to run the Club. We must try and move on from the Lowe era and somehow get this Club back on it's feet. If there is any upside from today it is that we may finally have a chance of ridding ourselves of all those who have taken from the Club and those who have let us down so badly.

UM, Lowe and Wilde have gone, administrator as from tomorrow, Jones only involved now to face the music and others left to mop up the s**t created and left by Stupert and his supporters. Pre Stupert Lowe...27 years of top division football...Post Stupert Lowe.....administration and third division football. Now I dont think ANYONE would want that on their CV!!! Stupert begged Fulthorpe (incredible I know!) last week to invest, Fulthorpe like a broken record said "funds are not in place"! Stupert heard to say he was sick of Southampton and its football club and wanted out as soon as possible (from a very good source!). The one man above all who MUST be squirming tonight will be GUY ASKHAM...the faceless, gutless accountant who by his actions way back has doomed this club to become a laughing stock nationwide...can you imagine the Pompey fans now! Tell me which out of Stupert, Wilde and Askham will be at the stadium this weekend??!! Scandalous...but really really sad!

To be pedantic we were not 27 years in the PL pre Lowe. Are you really sure that Lowe and Wilde are really gone? That will be a major surprise if so.

Micky Posted 1 April, 2009 Posted 1 April, 2009 I'm deluded (apparently) - I agree with Nickh & 19C to a certain extent. Lowe is without doubt culpable for the state that we now find ourselves in. But I'm amazed by the amount of people who seem to think that he stands alone. I'm afraid that the cancer goes far deeper than Lowe alone - there are many others who have played thier part in our demise over the last 5 years. To simply think that the removal of Lowe will be an end to all of our problems appears to be a rather blinkered view to me. I'm also amazed that in our darkest day for years many on here see fit to simply gloat at others ranting the old 'I told you so' line like some sort of spoiled 5 year old kids. Do you really believe that those people who support(ed) Lowe actually wanted it to come to this? No wonder this club is finding it hard to find unity.
MrMojoRisin Posted 1 April, 2009 Posted 1 April, 2009 Herr Lowe You were not around to remember the Branfoot out hope you die soon campaign as you were in the city ****ging rentboys, Can I just say that has never been more apt for a ***** like you. You have killed a big part of my life and for that I HOPE YOU FUKIN DIE VERY SOON YOU TOFFEE NOSED ****

Micky....you are 100% right, there are others, and one in particular, is to blame more than Lowe. However, if you put yourself up as the main man, the voicepiece, the head honcho, then when Sh*t happens, you must take the lions share of the blame.
