treggs23 Posted 31 March, 2009 Posted 31 March, 2009 Ray wallace never scored, but he was dog ****e afterall. I'm sure Hughes actually hit the stantion in the goal but had it dissallowed. Mike pickering, played every game ( i think) in our promotion season then left, sure he never scored. Did Barry venison score? He 'scored' against Leeds in a 3-0 defeat, which would have made it 1-1. It hit the net, then bounced back out so quickly that nobody saw it, and I think a goal-kick was given
Victor Posted 31 March, 2009 Posted 31 March, 2009 Mark Hughes holds quite a unique record for us. He must be the only forward to have got more yellow cards than goals - quite something for a forward. What on earth does "quite a unique record" mean? If it's not unique, then he is not the only forward to have got more yellow cards than goals.
Deano6 Posted 31 March, 2009 Posted 31 March, 2009 Uwe Rosler picked up 3 yellow cards and scored 1 goal for Saints. Therefore it is neither unique nor a record. http://www.soccerbase.com/players_details.sd?playerid=6888
Lets B Avenue Posted 31 March, 2009 Posted 31 March, 2009 What on earth does "quite a unique record" mean? If it's not unique, then he is not the only forward to have got more yellow cards than goals. Do you have to go to uni for 5 years and work in an office for 2 to be that big a pedant?
Victor Posted 31 March, 2009 Posted 31 March, 2009 Do you have to go to uni for 5 years and work in an office for 2 to be that big a pedant? No, but it helps. I think being old helps as well. Thankyou for showing an interest and making a note of my posts. (actually, I'm not that big a pedant, otherwise I would have picked up Appy for saying "may of been". I did have to restrain myself , though, as I find "should of", "could of", "must of" etc. particularly irritating. Is it teaching standards that have dropped, or do they simply not teach English in schools anymore?).
Victor Posted 31 March, 2009 Posted 31 March, 2009 Actually, to be pedantic, would picking Appy up for poor English be pedantry?
Saint Bones Posted 31 March, 2009 Posted 31 March, 2009 Sorry guys - pure cut and paste Wiki job. Hope it's correct. "This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by FA Premier League." - Well thats as good as You Tube can do me too
Whitey Grandad Posted 31 March, 2009 Posted 31 March, 2009 No, but it helps. Over twenty years ago I was a governor at a top Hampshire secondary school. I confronted the head english teacher as to why they no longer taught english grammar and she replied "There is no evidence that teaching english grammar leads to them writing better english". I think it's because the teachers don't know the difference, myself. Having said that, I would not want anybody to feel that they would be criticised, ridiculed, corrected for anything that they might contribute to these message boards. Let he who is without sin.....
Arizona Posted 31 March, 2009 Author Posted 31 March, 2009 We must have another RB that didn't score? Any of them (even if they only played for 5 minutes) would be better than Ostlund. Have you fotgotten about Tomasz Hajto? If so, please tell me how you managed to do it. Lloyd James and Phillip Ifil would be better options I guess.
rpb Posted 31 March, 2009 Posted 31 March, 2009 Over twenty years ago I was a governor at a top Hampshire secondary school. I think it's because the teachers don't know the difference, myself. Partly true, WG - in the 70's/80's there was an ethos that teaching grammar inhibited writing (possibly true but scrapping it was not the answer) and it's only in the last ten years that grammar has been reintroduced into the curriculum with the advent of the Literacy Hour. The problem is that the teachers who are now expected to teach grammar were not taught it themselves...
saint_bert Posted 31 March, 2009 Posted 31 March, 2009 Got one against Newcastle in a 4-2 win as well. We blayed a blinder that game. Stuart Ripley in maybe his only decent game for us. That put Newcastle bottom, then they lost to Sunderland at home and Gullet was gone
sfc6mufc3 Posted 31 March, 2009 Posted 31 March, 2009 What on earth does "quite a unique record" mean? If it's not unique, then he is not the only forward to have got more yellow cards than goals. If you read my post again instead of correcting potential errors you will notice that I implied he 'must be' as in 'could be' not that 'he is' the only forward to received more yellow cards than scored goals. Hope this helps.
Appy Posted 31 March, 2009 Posted 31 March, 2009 Victor if you want to spend your day on this forum correcting english then that is up to you, but it does get a tad boring for everyone else.
rpb Posted 31 March, 2009 Posted 31 March, 2009 Did Patrick Colleter ever score Yes - against Charlton.

Arizona Posted 1 April, 2009 Author Posted 1 April, 2009 what about: Jacinto Ela Eyene Imants Beldidis Andirys Pereplyotkins Kleber Chala Augustin Delgado? (I know the arsenal game but I swear that got put down as an own goal?) Jermaine Wright Morgan Schneiderlin Ali Dia 1. Wasn't an own goal I don't think, but he got one against Liverpool aswell. 2. Scored against QPR in 2006.
Saint_clark Posted 1 April, 2009 Posted 1 April, 2009 Jelle Van Damme. Scored in pre-season (belter V Chievo) but that was it.
skintsaint Posted 1 April, 2009 Posted 1 April, 2009 was going to say Mark Draper but im sure he scored an effort from the edge of the box once...? another one that springs to mind...John Beresford.
