Gillett out for rest of season

Callum McNish according to Dean Gorre in the current Pink he could be the next Viera, this could be his big chance perhaps, in my opinion he is too light weight still and one for next year.

So we've got the next Vieira and the next Arjen Robben. I reckon we're sorted.

Isn't Lloyd James still suspended for the Charlton game?

Hmm, perhaps. But by the time he's back, then maybe Thomas will be playing as well... Only thing is that if we think James lacks pace, then Thomas will be positively snail-like.

Phew - narrowly avoided tipping into Island of Sodor analogies there.

The Fat Controller will no doubt be delighted .

Thomas probably won't play for us this season, maybe in an emergency for the last match but you just don't come back from 9 month's injury like that.

Depends what he's been doing in rehab.

Seriously bad news we look really light weight in the middle now. Precious little protection is there for our porous defence.

Well we'll just have to be adventurous and take the game to them won't we.We need to win anyway.I don't particularly rate Gillett anyway though many give him good reports of late. I'd rather see something far more constructive in midfield and let Wotton do the water carrying.Just let him protect Thomson a bit and break down a few attacks.

i would play -

Davis

Liptak Perry Size Skacel

James Schneiderlin Surman

Lallana

Saga Euell

But what do I know.

You don't know that James is suspended that's obvious.

But anyway how are you going to get the ball with that midfield, where are the soldiers they're all artists.Liptak won't play at right back because he can't. If he could he would havde done so at Blackpool.

Holmes will play,Morgan,Wotton and Surman in midfield. Lallana is a luxury just now unless he does what he's best at and get down the right wing, but he won't he'll just drift into centre midfield.

Most players get over it fairly swiftly and get fit and then play football again.

Pulis seems to be suffering from latter day Owenpahars syndrome, nothing heals up as expected or if it does something else breaks whilst it's happening.

Pulis is a football manager's son, perhaps he played through far too many injuries in the little leagues just to please his dad.Now he has no recovery powers left in him. Happens all the time, if I had a euro for every kid I've seen destroyed by over enthusiastic parents I'd move to the Bahamas.

But he was rubbish when he was fit. Look at his record.

This signing tells you everything you need to know about Rupert Lowe and his running of our Club. Totally and utterly clueless.

Massive blow, only player who would be more of a lose is Size imo, we will probably have to ditch the diamond in midfield now which may not be a bad thing if Holmes is ready to start against Charlton. Will probably need to play both Schneiderlin and Wotton together in the middle to do the same job Gillett has been doing over the last few weeks and that means dropping McGoldrick who is a bit of a luxury player.

Davis

Thomson Size Perry Skacel

Surman Wotton MS Holmes

Saga Euell

Shows how weak our squad is when you lose James and Gillett and it seems like a full blown injury crisis.

We need to get a midfielder in on loan ASAP, there must be someone available on a emergency loan.

loans are finished, goalkeepers only now I think and then in exceptional circumstances.

Well that's probably f*cked what little chance we did have of staying up then.

I'm not happy I might add, as this just seems like the icing on the cake of a monumental c*ck up of a season featuring amateurish and utterly lunatic decisions on tactics, coaches and players. Seriously, there is not one poster on this site who would have done even remotely as bad had they been in charge. But we get the chairman from hell and look at the mess we are in.

There is at least one unexpected chance for the cfh to make a small atonement in our hour of need though, as apparently both Chris Lucketti and David Unsworth have just been released by Huddersfield and would presumably be available to sign as free agents.

We know how good Lucketti was at this time last season and Unsworth has all the experience in the world. Perhaps a six week deal for both to help see us through a crisis.....

Shame as i thought he was one of few who have been performing well recently. Him, Size and Davis and maybe Perry are the players i think have done well the past 4 games. Putting Surman back in the middle i guess will be the obvious thing for Wotte but i can't help but think he is better where he is for now. Maybe go like this

-------Davis------

Skacel--Size---Perry

------Wotten-------

--------------------

----Morgan--Euell---

Surman---------Holmes

------Saga--BWP----

I think we have to be attack minded now, draws probably wont be enough. Having the 6 pushing forward will obviously leave space for counters but Morgan and Wotten can fall back into those slots if Skacel gets forward. I just hope Wotte doesn't go ultra defensive for that game.

We aren't a side equipped to play 3 at the back and certainly not with Skacel being part of the 3. It's 2 stoppers and a sweeper behind them usually.

If you play Size and Perry as stoppers you need a rugged, all seeing midfield player behind them (and occasionally in front of them to relance the system when possible) that's not a Skacel sized job really. Morgan has the technical ability but at 19 he's just not got the experience for the job. All the best sweepers are converted defensive midfield players. We haven't got anyone that fits the bill. I'm not sure that Saga will start, will depend on what part he plays in Poland's game on Wednesday, when he get back and if he's been shaken up att all in the 2 internationals.May start will Euell and McG up front with

Saga to come on at half time depending on how it's going. We need him most at Watford.I personallythink that we'll p*ss all over Charlton.

that us f*cked then because we only score when the other teams attacks us, where we have had to attack because they put 10 behind the ball we have failed miserably

Morgan can't play DMF. He is much too lightweight and can't really tackle.

Saw Gillett in a bar today having a meeting with a guy who may have been his agent.

Overheard him on way out say that he could go on hols this week but wants to stay around club and help out if he can.

Fair play to him!

I find it amazing people are suggesting Gillett being out is a huge loss, considering that before Wotte started picking him, for the starting XI, most poeple thought he was rubbish.

This is the result of a very poor Saints side. A player has a small purple patch and us fans grasp the chink of light that may give us hope. He does sound from you regular fans that his effort was there. But our position and continued poor results suggest that on the odd occasion he has been the best of a poor bunch.

Comparison would be Holmes..I only saw him twice and a couple of odd tv coverage. Some rate him prior to injury as a top player. For me too little in a poor side and the odd flash that suggest in a better CCC side would be reasonable squad player. No pace and easily frightened out by strong full back left me with my doubts..One brother rates as reasonable two other brothers rate as not better than the rest of the rubbish..They still go to many games and are as fickle as the rest of us....Hope Simon recovers and joins us for next season...Both him and Holmes would be stars in Div 1. Is there a miracle out there somewhere? :smt017

He can play RB, can't he? in which case Lloyd James might go into midfield...

That is a very good call. It is vital we have someone who can pop in the tackles in the middle of the park and it would be definotely worth while trying Lloyd James there. My only fear is that it will not be tried soon enough.

He was playing DM last season in the reserves...

Probably to do with people watching him recently at games and him being man of match/Saints best player etc. He also played well earlier in season before like alot of players got injured and lost form.

Maybe we can see if Mark Wotte can shuffle the pack and use Holmes again now he's back. I don't see him as an immediate replacement for Gillett's role, but he does have a lot more experience, let's hope we can benefit from it.
