John B Posted 28 March, 2009 Posted 28 March, 2009 BBC WEBSITE 1905: GOAL Northern Ireland 3-2 Poland A brilliant diving header from Southampton's Marek Saganowski in the first minute of injury time. Saints fans in the office jumps up and down.
AlfredKo Posted 28 March, 2009 Posted 28 March, 2009 That is brillant!!! If he started scoring again for us, we should be winning enough games to stay up. Just want to mention his diving header is incrediblely great!!!!!
Lord Duckhunter Posted 28 March, 2009 Posted 28 March, 2009 He missed a sitter 5 minutes before he scored.
John B Posted 28 March, 2009 Posted 28 March, 2009 He missed a sitter 5 minutes before he scored. 1853: Poland almost pull a goal back as Roger stands up a cross that Southampton's Marek Saganowski gets up well to meet with a decent downward header, but it is just the wrong side of the post for the visitors.
AlfredKo Posted 28 March, 2009 Posted 28 March, 2009 He missed a sitter 5 minutes before he scored. Is not a sitter!!! I watched the game. He won the header against a defender who is bigger than him and his header was just inches wide.
John B Posted 28 March, 2009 Posted 28 March, 2009 He should have scored. Why should he have scored? Were the Irish not trying to stop him scoring
70's Mike Posted 28 March, 2009 Posted 28 March, 2009 Is not a sitter!!! I watched the game. He won the header against a defender who is bigger than him and his header was just inches wide. agreed
Arizona Posted 28 March, 2009 Posted 28 March, 2009 He should have scored. I suspect that he was struck by such shock that his team had created a chance to score and completely forgot what he was supposed to do next.
thefuriousb Posted 28 March, 2009 Posted 28 March, 2009 I suspect that he was struck by such shock that his team had created a chance to score and completely forgot what he was supposed to do next. Not sure how you can say this when he scored something like 6 in 5 in February before going the last 4 without remotely looking lke scoring. Any shock would be in his own self belief Would suggest to me that he is someone that is hot when he is hot, and cold when cold. Much like the initial loan period, then pretty much the entire 2007/8 season

Just want to mention his diving header is incrediblely great!!!!! Saga does seem to be a player that scores in patches. With Charlton & Watford up next then a return to scoring is most welcome. Heck, another hat-trick at Wolves at Easter would not go amiss!

Much like the initial loan period, then pretty much the entire 2007/8 season Sorry, tounge was firmly in cheek with that one. You're right though, he does seem to score in patches, which seem to coincide pretty much mith how creative the team around him is. Hopefully Surman, DMG, MS and Lallana can get their collective a*ses in gear.

One hopes Surman's confidence has not been affected by so many of our best chances in the last 2 games falling to him. 2 points may well, and some may say, could, have been 6! I feel for him as he no doubt feels it more, with him being home-grown and raised (if not born) locally
Arizona Posted 28 March, 2009 Posted 28 March, 2009 Couple of ex-Saints in action. Baird got about 10 minutes at the end of the same match and Tim Sparv (surely he could have done MS's job for £1.2m less) was an unused sub for Finland, who beat a Wales side featuring Bale.

And just now our ex-Saints Anders Svensson and Mikael Nilsson helped Sweden to keep a clean sheet and got a point away at Portugal.

Wales were p*ss poor yesterday, worst performance i've seen by a national side in a while, and I make it a habit to watch Scotland games.. I saw Sparv on the team sheet, under what circumstances did he leave the club? I always thought he would be a class act for us, and he seemed to be a natural leader on the pitch. If only we had him now...
Andy_Porter Posted 29 March, 2009 Posted 29 March, 2009 Bellamys interview after the game yesterday was brilliant, fair play to him for being so passionate.

If only we had him now... interesting because when ever I saw him he was a lightweight slow passenger. James ran the midfield in that side.
hamster Posted 29 March, 2009 Posted 29 March, 2009 Wales were p*ss poor yesterday, worst performance i've seen by a national side in a while,.. Absolutely agree. Watching the post match interviews also makes me wonder how they are going to be able to raise their game for the Germany clash. If I were a gambling man, I would put a masive wedge on them to get royally humiliated. Although the odds are not brilliant, it has simply got to be one of the surest bets in football recently.
um pahars Posted 29 March, 2009 Posted 29 March, 2009 interesting because when ever I saw him he was a lightweight slow passenger. James ran the midfield in that side. I can only remember him as being tall. Mate of mine really rated him, but I never really saw that he had that something extra to be able to make the step up.
SimonRichards Posted 1 April, 2009 Posted 1 April, 2009 Saga has scored another goal tonight in Polands 10-0 whipping Of San Mario. Saga came off the bench to score again.
