Window Cleaner Posted 28 March, 2009 Share Posted 28 March, 2009 No ; Lithuania-France starts at 8 35 and if I turn the lights off I won't be able to see all those Africans that play for us now.
St Landrew Posted 28 March, 2009 Share Posted 28 March, 2009 Got my electricity bill in for the last quarter a couple of weeks ago. I have used half the power that I did for the same quarter last year. And all I did was make sure I had high efficiency light bulbs everywhere, and turned off the immersion heater, so that I just have showers. It was no absolutely hardship at all. Needless to say, I shall be joining in.

SNSUN Posted 28 March, 2009 Share Posted 28 March, 2009 I am at work, and if I switch the lights off, the Underground will be plunged into darkness. Which, while fun, could cause mass rape or violence.

SNSUN Posted 28 March, 2009 Share Posted 28 March, 2009 Why did you put rape before violence? I have a suspicion that rape on the trains would prevail before violence. Although, I suppose, they are one and the same.

Patrick Bateman Posted 29 March, 2009 Share Posted 29 March, 2009 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/7969515.stm No. As I've said before, "climate change" is an excuse for humans to be selfish and preserve their future on the Earth. Why should they? Who cares? In 1000 years, hopefully humans will be wiped out and another, new, species shall rule the Earth. The Earth doesn't excusively belong to the human species ... so, who cares? I don't. Don't give a toss if humans are wiped out by an overly warm, or overly cold planet that doesn't actually belong to us. And don't get me started on all thse bloody bandwagon jumping celebrities, bunch of c*nts.

St Landrew Posted 29 March, 2009 Share Posted 29 March, 2009 Stayed with friends, and we all took part. At one point, I popped up to the loo to have a pee, and the candle I took with me slid off the cistern and nearly dropped into the water. Didn't know which thing to catch hold of..! jawillwill Posted 29 March, 2009 Share Posted 29 March, 2009 Yes, all non essential items will be switched off at 8.29. How stupid. If you really give that much of a sh*t, why bother waiting til 8.29? Did you make the effort to turn all the non-essential items back on again afterwards? Rattlehead Posted 29 March, 2009 Share Posted 29 March, 2009 What a completely pointless load of b*llocks. I see the usual suspects participated, thinking they're making a difference and feeling smug about themselves. Shame they completely wasted their time. Needless to say I didn't bother and, fortunately, Metallica took the same view otherwise the O2 would have been very dark and they'd have been very quiet. TopGun Posted 29 March, 2009 Share Posted 29 March, 2009 (edited) I am working currently with Drax Power who produce 7% of the UK's electricity from coal mostly and are the largest carbon emitters in the UK by some distance. It's interesting to note that even they as a FTSE100 company recognise their operations have an effect on the climate and they are working to reduce those effects. http://www.draxpower.com/corporate_responsibility/climatechange/ Stick that in yer pipe Stanley and George :-) Edited 29 March, 2009 by TopGun
Weston Super Saint Posted 29 March, 2009 Share Posted 29 March, 2009 Oh well, it all went on your bill. It didn't The pub had every single light on twinkling brightly - even the car park ones. Stayed with friends, and we all took part. At one point, I popped up to the loo to have a pee, and the candle I took with me slid off the cistern and nearly dropped into the water. Didn't know which thing to catch hold of..! How very twee. But seriously, what was the point of the last 150 years of advancement if we're going to go back to lighting our way with candles? I imagine the local councils would happily light our streets again with candles, but I suspect the Elf and Safety would interfere, as it would be far too dangerous to light them! Coldplay made use of it in Abu Dhabi last night to sing a Monkees song while lit by Mobile Phones... Nice gimick but probably used more carbon to charge the phones afterwards But then that's unfair because they did offset all their emissions this time - properly.. How was Metallica? - missed them here 3 weeks ago (6,000 people) as it was the same night as rugby heard it was awesome.

Saint George Posted 30 March, 2009 Share Posted 30 March, 2009 I turned on all 76 Lights in my place as well as turning on 2 48" and 1 52" plasma TV's....Turned the Air Con down an extra 10 deg f.... Turned on all 5 PC's, DVD's Games consles, vacum cleaners and anything else i could find that plugged into a wall socket Then turned up the domestic hot water a couple of notches.....Ran the dishwasher, washing machine and dryer empty and switched the ice machine to 'turbo' mode.....Then went outside and filled the mower, the blower, the weed eater and fogger with gas and let them run.....I also fired up the barbie, the smoker and the crayfish boilers......Then went for a hour long drive around town in my 5 1/2 ltr truck:) I recon i just about compansated for everyone here who turned their lights out have a nice day y'all ---------------------------------------------------------- My carbon footprint's bigger than yours
