You should have been able to see that no one was in through the car windows tbf.
Um Bongo Posted 27 March, 2009 Share Posted 27 March, 2009 101 is the best bet. Or, failing that, 0845 045 45 45. HTH.

hamster Posted 27 March, 2009 Author Share Posted 27 March, 2009 I assure you S13, it is extremely loud and annoying. And no-one to my knowledge assumed that it's being nicked. It probably needs the sensitivity adjusted, but I can't work out why it's only done it in the mornings when they are out? I will politely inform them when they get home. If it happens again next week though, I will have no option but to raise it at the next neighbourhood watch meeting. Once those old buggers get their false teeth into it they will wish they'd had it stolen.
hamster Posted 27 March, 2009 Author Share Posted 27 March, 2009 I can now see that I was being oversensitive and apologise for wasting forum members time. Can I have my trousers back now please?
Pancake Posted 27 March, 2009 Share Posted 27 March, 2009 What do you expect the police to do about this?? It's not breaking the law and half 10 is not early. Noise Nuisance from Vehicle Alarms This section provides information and advice about noise nuisance from vehicle alarms. It is possible that this activity could cause a statutory nuisance within the provisions of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 although this is not likely. Vehicle alarms for most modern vehicles are also subject the Motor Vehicle (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986. These regulations specify maximum permitted durations for which the alarm should sound. They are enforced by the police and the Vehicle Inspectorate. Before you make a formal complaint we strongly recommend you read our guidance notes on making a complaint. Having read the guidance notes, make your complaint online by using the nuisance form or make your complaint by letter, telephone or email. We would also advise you to contact the police and the Vehicle Inspectorate. We will need to know exactly where the activity is taking place and when it may be witnessed by our officers. Any other information such as the name of company is involved, what is being advertised and how would be helpful. HTH. if, as hamster has stated, the alarm is going off for long, extended periods of time then he is quite within his rights to get the Police involved, and they can actually remove the vehicle and/or disable the alarm by whatever means required. Oh thank you Pancake, that very much does help. For fun, I may do this next week. When they come home I will casually walk past and ask where their lovely old Capri is "have you sold it?" I will tease. When they ask if I noticed anyone taking their car, I will suggest that they should have had a ****ing alarm fitted to the ****ing thing and laugh my arse off as I ride off into the distance (West End probably).
