Hamilton Saint Posted 25 March, 2009 Share Posted 25 March, 2009 OK, if you like that sort of thing (blue-eyed soul). Daryl Hall is certainly a good vocalist - did some interesting work with Robert Fripp, for instance.

the stain Posted 25 March, 2009 Author Share Posted 25 March, 2009 I just read on Wikipedia that they met when their respective groups were competing in a battle of the bands, which turned into a gangland shootout. They took shelter in the same elevator. Fate is a funky sorceress.
St Landrew Posted 26 March, 2009 Share Posted 26 March, 2009 Yes. Wouldn't buy their music, but they were of an ilk that were played on the radio during the 80's that got you winding the window down and resting the arm on the sill while you turned the volume up. Other artists that appealed that way were Kool and the Gang, Wax, Andrew Gold, Level 42 [ They all have their place in what I consider Quality Pop. No mate, [but I know what you mean] because I've always rated Joe Jackson quite highly. Hence: Look Sharp I'm The Man Night & Day Body And Soul owned by me. And I'm sure there would have been more but for an emotional disturbance of the financial kind.

Deppo Posted 26 March, 2009 Share Posted 26 March, 2009 'Lonely Boy' is the only good thing wot Andrew Gold done. You could add 'Jessie's Girl' by Rick Springfield to that list. But maybe you won't.

James_O_Mac Posted 27 March, 2009 Share Posted 27 March, 2009 CLASSIC!! Me and my mate always ask people (who clearly know nothing about music) which they prefer Hall or Oates? Its funny looking at bewilderment. She said leave me alone, i'm a family man and my bark is much worse than my bite! choon.
