EBS1980 Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 Nothing we didn't already know, but we are named as one of seven clubs in financial trouble in the daily mirror today. Us and Charlton being the highest profile of the 7. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/2009/03/24/clubs-are-fighting-for-survival-are-credit-crunch-takes-its-toll-115875-21223958/
Mr X Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 I notice it only mentions the points deduction with us and not the others clubs, does that mean they have info that we are about to go into admin?
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 I notice it only mentions the points deduction with us and not the others clubs, does that mean they have info that we are about to go into admin? Yep, the Mirror have info, they're at the cutting edge of journalism like that.
Mr X Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 Yep, the Mirror have info, they're at the cutting edge of journalism like that. sarcasm yes fair play
Mole Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 Yep, the Mirror have info, they're at the cutting edge of journalism like that. There's no smoke without fire...
VectisSaint Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 I notice it only mentions the points deduction with us and not the others clubs, does that mean they have info that we are about to go into admin? Doubt it, with the possible exception of Chester the 10 point deductioin would not make much difference to the others. Stockport are comfortable mid table, Charlton and Cheltenham are as good as down, Darlo are mid-table, Bournemouth are already in admin.
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 There's no smoke without fire... Yeah, but that smoke has been around since last summer, as we all well know
chivvy1664 Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 Surely the key to all these issues are the wages paid to players. These have to be reduced. We have some big earners coming to the end of their contracts. Hopefully we will still be in the championship. But we cannot carry on paying the likes Euell the money he is on next season.
Tac-tics Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 With us "seemingly" having a very good chance of staying up, owuld you take the admin before end of march?
Rebel Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 I thought that after the 23rd March - i.e. yesterday - the points deduction that came with going into administration applied to next season so if we go into administration on Thursday but stay up we would start next season on minus 10 points the gamble being that we would then finish 10 points above the bottom three next season! that makes more sense to me than taking the 10 points this season and guaranteeing relegation if we stay up this year we will get an extra £2.1 million from TV money next year for being in the CCC that's worth the gamble!
stevegrant Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 The deadline is the 4th Thursday in March, so there's two days yet. I really wouldn't hold your breath on anything happening between now and then, to be honest.
trousers Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 I thought that after the 23rd March - i.e. yesterday - the points deduction that came with going into administration applied to next season so if we go into administration on Thursday but stay up we would start next season on minus 10 points Not my understanding. I thought the deadline for losing the points this season was doing the deed before this coming Thursday?
trousers Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 Fine. I have it on good authority that you've been interferring with sheep. I herd that too
bridge too far Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 I herd that too I'm going to lambast you for that one, T
trousers Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 Don't start. Didn't get that one Ponty. Hope you're not trying to pull the wool over our eyes.
Ponty Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 I hate puns. Sarcasm may be called the lowest form of wit but it's a hell of a lot better than the use of puns.
dubai_phil Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 Look will ewe guys cut it out, today is a really baaad day
Ponty Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 I'll be back tonight to infract any subsequent puns on this thread.
Weston Saint Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 I'll be back tonight to infract any subsequent puns on this thread. You will be lambasted if you do.
trousers Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 I'll be back tonight to infract any subsequent puns on this thread. Where do the rules say you can fleece people like that?
true-saint-keit Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 There's no smoke without fire... What about smoke machines?
Doctoroncall Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 That's me done. I'm off for a lamb shank. Why are you repeating yourself?
Window Cleaner Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 I if we stay up this year we will get an extra £2.1 million from TV money next year for being in the CCC that's worth the gamble! Probably a bit more than that actually. There's the new BBC deal plus would I be right in thinking that if Reading and Birmingham go straight back up their next seasons Parachute payments are divided amongst the CCC clubs??
philelec Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 You will be lambasted if you do. Nah! He's being sheepish about it.
GreenTreeFrog Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 That's me done. I'm off for a lamb shank. Is that rhyming slang or a euphemism? Anyway be careful, I hear it can make you go blind.
krissyboy31 Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 Tony Husband just made an off the cuff remark about this week being "interesting" because Thursday is the deadline for clubs to go into administration and take the points deduction, this season. He didn't mention any names but I can't think of any other clubs in the South Today region, bar us, that could be about to make such a decision.
Ponty Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 Or he could speculating as much as anybody else. We'll see in about 40 hours.
Ricky Redstripe Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 I herd that too It's not a herd, for flocks sake!
trousers Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 Or he could speculating as much as anybody else. We'll see in about 40 hours. People quote "Thursday" as the -10 points deadline day but anyone know what time exactly on Thursday? Is it 'by Thursday' (i.e. midnight Wednesday) or 'by end of Thursday' (i.e. midnight Thursday)....or somewhere in between?
Ponty Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 We have to assume it's by close of business. 5.30 maybe? FTR, I don't believe we'll be volunteering for anything and nor should we be.
Mole Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 Fine. I have it on good authority that you've been interferring with sheep. There's no pulling the wool over your eyes.
Ponty Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 If you lot don't stop it I'm turning this car around and we're going home.
trousers Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 If you lot don't stop it I'm turning this car around and we're going home. I thought you had a thicker sheepskin than that
INFLUENCED.COM Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 There's no smoke without fire... "A rumour without a leg to stand on will get around some other way"

buctootim Posted 25 March, 2009 Posted 25 March, 2009 If you lot don't stop it I'm turning this car around and we're going home. Flock off then with that attitude.
