Are we still a "going concern"?

It's been in the papers. There were quotes from Storrie, the gist of which was that they could be in big trouble this summer.

can you point me to these articles as I have not seen them. I'd ery much like the right kind of ammunitiion when I next argue with skate mates. I'm told Poopey have about 15 players out of contract in the summer so that suggests to me they won't have a problem. Its long term high wage earners that kill a club, that and relegation.

Good post Weston' date=' and that leads to the question for those advocating the 'speculate to accumulate' (read as ambition by many) approach, was it worth spending that 7.5 mil under GB?[/quote']

Well the first part of that question needs to be addressed to Lowe who committed the first 2million (and a 4 year deal) on Rasiak that summer.

Additionally, he raised the expectations of Burley (and others) but stating that that wouldn't be the last of the monies spent that summer, and that there was a warchest to be spent on further transfers (which was mentioned after we had already signed Rasiak).

And of course you can go back slightly further and ask whether we should have perhaps speculated a bit more when we were in the top flight.

...like just after the cup final, when we were heading for Europe, talk of expanding a regularly full SMS...when exactly was Wupert (in his own words) gonna start making us the " Man United of the South"???

I dont know the answer to that. I was told by someone that Lowe is paying Saganowski's wages personally but it was not from my usual source so I treated it with suspicion and have not posted it previously.

You should have saved that one for the 1st April.

And you believe that ?????? LMAO. :---)

Apart from anything else, if that were the case wouldn't it be easier for him just not to draw such a large wage, (I was also 'told by someone' that it's close to £1/4 million pa).

And, Lowe being Lowe, if it were true his PR team would be circulating the story to every news agency in the English and Dutch speaking world.

If this true, it would have been trumpeted from the top of the Civic Centre clock tower.

Why on earth would Lowe pass up on this PR coup.

It's bollllocks. must be.

Lowe paying a player from his own pocket?

A man who has put ZERO cash into the club is suddenly repaying all that salary, dividends and share buy-backs.

Wonders will never cease...

He put something like 130k in in return for new shares when there was a "rights issue" in circa 1999 as a part of the 3million to raise funds for SMS.

But as for this story, then i don't think it has any legs (not least because it would be trumpeted from the roof tops had it been the case).

I myself am sceptical but if he saw that it was a necessity to win some games to keep us afloat and his investment then perhaps.I also wonder that if it was seen that he was paying for Saga fans would jump on him about the whole loaning the players out in the first place.Like i say sceptical but not 100% sure it is not the case.

No I'm not really surprised because people are frightened of the very word 'Administration'. It conjures up images of death, meltdown and an end to all you've known before.

The reality is different, at least it was in our case. It was also the same for Boro, when they went under in '86. Once the debt is wiped out, you start afresh.

Admittedly, in the current climate money is tight from new suitors, or at the very least they're looking for maximum value before they'll invest, but if the price is right, new money IS still out there, as was the case when Mandaric came in for us.

At the end of the day you have a new stadium that's good enough for the top flight. What are they gonna do, bulldoze it? Nah, not going to happen is it?

See? Told you administration was the best thing that could happen to you....

*sigh* No-one listens to me on here, can't think why :D
