AndyNorthernSaints Posted 23 March, 2009 Posted 23 March, 2009 Has returned to Hull after loan at Oldham and is not entitled to play for another premier league club because of loan rules. Get him in on loan please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he would give us some much needed physical presence and goals in this league.
stevegrant Posted 23 March, 2009 Posted 23 March, 2009 I was under the impression he wasn't entitled to play for ANY team other than Oldham because his loan was agreed until the end of the season.
Jesus Reigned Posted 23 March, 2009 Posted 23 March, 2009 Other than keeping a clean sheet when their goalie got sent off he did nothing at Oldham though; what makes you think he'd do better in a higher division?
luke8588 Posted 23 March, 2009 Posted 23 March, 2009 he wouldnt come here, hes a proper northener, dunno if hes ever played for a southern club?
Kenilworthy Posted 23 March, 2009 Posted 23 March, 2009 Oxford must count as the South to someone from Hull. It's not much further to Southampton.
AndyNorthernSaints Posted 23 March, 2009 Author Posted 23 March, 2009 Other than keeping a clean sheet when their goalie got sent off he did nothing at Oldham though; what makes you think he'd do better in a higher division? Doing quite well for Hull in this league.
AndyNorthernSaints Posted 23 March, 2009 Author Posted 23 March, 2009 he wouldnt come here, hes a proper northener, dunno if hes ever played for a southern club? Oxford
AndyNorthernSaints Posted 23 March, 2009 Author Posted 23 March, 2009 I had no idea things were that bad. Apart from Saga who do you think will score goals to keep us up?
Hopkins Posted 23 March, 2009 Posted 23 March, 2009 My god he is horrific. Even more so at this level. Did sweet FA at Oldham and would do even less for us.
saintwarwick Posted 23 March, 2009 Posted 23 March, 2009 Doing quite well for Hull in this league. He's only played 5 times this season for Hull, can't see how that is doing well.
Andy_Porter Posted 23 March, 2009 Posted 23 March, 2009 Would be a better option than Bradley Wright-Phillips. Must be a better option out there somewhere though.
AndyNorthernSaints Posted 23 March, 2009 Author Posted 23 March, 2009 He's only played 5 times this season for Hull, can't see how that is doing well. This league meaning the Championship! scored plenty of goals including winner in play off final.
saintwarwick Posted 23 March, 2009 Posted 23 March, 2009 This league meaning the Championship! scored plenty of goals including winner in play off final. He struggled to get a game at Oldham and he is fast approaching 40 (8 days time). He scored 13 goals in 38 league matches last season, don't think he would get anywhere near that now.

I'd rather have him at nearly 40 than BWP, Paterson, Smith and Euell.
Ponty Posted 23 March, 2009 Posted 23 March, 2009 Apart from Saga who do you think will score goals to keep us up? Not Wideass, that's for sure.
Burnsie Posted 23 March, 2009 Posted 23 March, 2009 he can't play for club other than oldham athletic until his loan nominally ends at the end of the season. end of thread.
Saint_clark Posted 23 March, 2009 Posted 23 March, 2009 Apart from Saga who do you think will score goals to keep us up? McGoldrick scored in our last game, and is our joint top scorer - with Drew Surman.
AndyNorthernSaints Posted 23 March, 2009 Author Posted 23 March, 2009 Ok i give up and bow to the superior knowledge of people on here who are happy with Saints scoring 38 goals this season, a total less than Charlton and Forest.
Arizona Posted 23 March, 2009 Posted 23 March, 2009 Ok i give up and bow to the superior knowledge of people on here who are happy with Saints scoring 38 goals this season, a total less than Charlton and Forest. And you're proposing to rectify this by signing the dinosaur that is Dean 'do you want gravy on that' Windass?
Deano6 Posted 23 March, 2009 Posted 23 March, 2009 Not Wideass, that's for sure. Now that you've made an unfavourable pun on his name I'm convinced.
AndyNorthernSaints Posted 24 March, 2009 Author Posted 24 March, 2009 And you're proposing to rectify this by signing the dinosaur that is Dean 'do you want gravy on that' Windass? Yes and your lack of football knowledge is well known on here.
Arizona Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 Yes and your lack of football knowledge is well known on here. Is it? Ok, I'll shut up then. Dean Windass
saintwarwick Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 he fell out with now ex manager. I'd rather have him at nearly 40 than BWP, Paterson, Smith and Euell. Of course, 11 games 1 goal, that's at league 1 level. I believe Euell has a better scoring record in 1 game in the championship
Arizona Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 Of course, 11 games 1 goal, that's at league 1 level. I believe Euell has a better scoring record in 1 game in the championship Well, he's half as prolific as Gregory Vignal was last season. I can certainly see why we'd want him up front.
AndyNorthernSaints Posted 24 March, 2009 Author Posted 24 March, 2009 Well, he's half as prolific as Gregory Vignal was last season. I can certainly see why we'd want him up front. Vignal (penalty taker)played 20 odd games with alot better players. I suggest you check the facts before you try to take the ****.
AndyNorthernSaints Posted 24 March, 2009 Author Posted 24 March, 2009 (edited) Of course, 11 games 1 goal, that's at league 1 level. I believe Euell has a better scoring record in 1 game in the championship Career goals: Euell 81 Windass 202 Euell 5 goals from 52 games with Saints. Edited 24 March, 2009 by AndyNorthernSaints
ITKSaint Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 Get him in, at least some of the opposition players might know they'd been in a game. We might still go down but better to do it fat and ugly than just slip away as we are doing now.
Ponty Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 Now that you've made an unfavourable pun on his name I'm convinced. If only I'd have known that's all it took. Seriously though, Windass? Really?
Chez Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 Dean `Rugby League' Windass is a legend in 'ull, but sadly his best days have passed.
del boy Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 Ok i give up and bow to the superior knowledge of people on here who are happy with Saints scoring 38 goals this season Looking through the posts I havent read any that say that. We'd all like more goals obviously, and it has been a big problem for Saints this year. But its not just as simple as that though is it, its also about securing the other end. At least if we can't afford to get in another goal scorer we have done something about tightening up the defence - 3 goals conceded in the last 6 games. QPR have also only scored 38 and they are in the dizzy heights of 11th place, 7 points away from the play off places.
Arizona Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 Vignal (penalty taker)played 20 odd games with alot better players. I suggest you check the facts before you try to take the ****. I have, and that's the point I was making. A left back taking 3 penalties and a free kick is a more effective goal threat than Dean Windass.
ottery st mary Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 Who is this Dean Windass you all rate so highly?
saintwarwick Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 Who is this Dean Windass you all rate so highly? Some bloke who has scored one goal in eleven games in league one football.
Arizona Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 Career goals: Euell 81 Windass 202 Euell 5 goals from 52 games with Saints. Career goals slightly irrelevant for someone born in the Jurassic period. What he can do now, i.e. 1 goal in 11 games for Oldham, is relevant. Not what he did at Bradford 5 years ago. Mick Channon has 232 career goals. Surely he'd be a better option?

Channon played in 60/70/80's Windass scored goals for Hull last season!!!
Saint Bones Posted 25 March, 2009 Posted 25 March, 2009 Bit harsh on Euell as he has only returned to the frontline for the first time - er ever for us. Been used as a midfielder for the last few years. I think that Saga, Euell and McGoldrick will get us out with enough goals - although its something we really need to look at next season. ( whateverr league we may be in)
saintwarwick Posted 25 March, 2009 Posted 25 March, 2009 Channon played in 60/70/80's Windass scored goals for Hull last season!!! And this season?
Son of Bob Posted 25 March, 2009 Posted 25 March, 2009 Has it really got to the stage where Dean Windass is being touted as our possible saviour? Oh dear. Thank God he can't actually sign for us...
Daren W Posted 25 March, 2009 Posted 25 March, 2009 Ok i give up and bow to the superior knowledge of people on here who are happy with Saints scoring 38 goals this season, a total less than Charlton and Forest. Thing is Andy are we the only people who watched Windass in that Playoff final and thought **** me, he's brilliant? You can never tell, he might have been crap that season but he scored 15 goals in the championship and his goal took them up...
