Smirking_Saint Posted 23 March, 2009 Posted 23 March, 2009 Can't find any other threads relating to this yet, i apologise if there are. The news that marlon may be going to either wolves or nottingham forest, anyone else believe he would have done a perfect job for us ?? Why is it we never seem to sign anyone that could actually do a good job for us ?? As opposed to the odd surprise package ?
saint_stevo Posted 23 March, 2009 Posted 23 March, 2009 Why would he come here over these 2? Guess he has some loyalties with Forest having previously played there and Wolves are top of the league
Bailey Posted 23 March, 2009 Posted 23 March, 2009 Add to that the fact we don't have a pot to **** in and this signing was never going to happen. In an ideal world, yes, we would be going for someone like Harewood, but realistically, never in a million years would we sign him.
Channon's Sideburns Posted 23 March, 2009 Posted 23 March, 2009 Well, if our wonderful CEO and Chairman were to forego their salaries until the end of the season, perhaps we could afford it....and gain survival. But that ain't going to happen.

Smirking_Saint Posted 23 March, 2009 Author Posted 23 March, 2009 yeah, having calmed down and thinking about things logically i suppose yeah it was never going to happen but it feels like for the past 3 years we have never had the rub of the green as far as signing decent loans. We never seem to be able to compete.
Thedelldays Posted 23 March, 2009 Posted 23 March, 2009 We never seem to be able to compete. are you joking the first season down we spent a kings ransom and was by far the biggest spenders in the summer...we were in the top 2-3 spenders in the whole league... wasnt sagga a great loan signing.. saijs..? richard wright..? jack cork..?
Smirking_Saint Posted 23 March, 2009 Author Posted 23 March, 2009 Yeah transfer i agree but we also spend money on crap we don't need. I agree with wright and cork and as for Saga and Saijs like i said before they are both surprise packages. I never heard of both of them before hand, it's the loan signings, i always see tha players available that from the off i believe could do a job, and we never seem to be even sniffing around. Look at under burley when we clearly needed center halves and he still signed about 25 midfielders.
Sheff Saint Posted 23 March, 2009 Posted 23 March, 2009 I heard yesterday Sheff Weds were after him but put off cos of his £20k a week wage demands!

Good point. Chaplow, Potter, Guthrie, Ifil, Alex Pearce.. the list goes on.

I would agree Size was an unknown quantity to an extent but Saga was an existing Polish international and played in a decent enough league before us. He also had spells as Feyenoord and Hamburg in his earlier days and had a very good record in the Portuguese league as well, before joining Troyes. He was a player with very decent pedigree.

Yes, but you can count the quantity of QUALITY loanees on one hand under Lowe. Most of the good ones ironically came in under Wilde and Crouch.

Wrong, it was the second season down. The first season down we spent a grand total of £90,000 on Ricardo Fuller.

LostBoys Posted 23 March, 2009 Posted 23 March, 2009 He was on the bench on Sunday and so I cannot see them letting him move

derry Posted 23 March, 2009 Posted 23 March, 2009 Harewood to Wolves is far better than Harewood to Forest as far as we are concerned.
krissyboy31 Posted 23 March, 2009 Posted 23 March, 2009 Harewood to Wolves is far better than Harewood to Forest as far as we are concerned. Not so sure, he'll probably score a hattrick against us on Good Friday now.

Chez Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 the loan deal with Forest was all but signed and then Wolves offered him the possibility of Premiership football next season should he do well and they go up. We could not match that never mind the obscene wages he would demand.
Smirking_Saint Posted 24 March, 2009 Author Posted 24 March, 2009 I must admit my one real fear was him going to forest, hopefully he will score a few against the relegation rivals now.
