stevegrant Posted 23 March, 2009 Author Posted 23 March, 2009 Everyone who has applied so far has a place. There are still a number of places left, although the furthest forward is central midfield! One goalkeeper spot remaining, along with lots of defender spaces.
JustMike Posted 23 March, 2009 Posted 23 March, 2009 cheers for the update Steve. I would have thought they all would have been snapped up by now

sunrise Posted 23 March, 2009 Posted 23 March, 2009 Good luck to those who play, even though I could afford it and not bothered in what position, I'm simply too unfit and crap to even play 45 minutes - I would end up embarrassing myself and others!

Griffo Posted 23 March, 2009 Posted 23 March, 2009 How many places are left? If they're not all filled up is it still likely to go ahead?
dannypope Posted 23 March, 2009 Posted 23 March, 2009 Just applied..I am a Right Back in the Jermaine Wright mould
dubai_phil Posted 23 March, 2009 Posted 23 March, 2009 Application has been in for a few days now, airmiles are now sorted, all I need now is confirmation from Baj that the promised backroom staff for my critical role as manager are in place. I'll need one person to pick up the drinks tray as I kick it over regularly. Two cute blonde chick masseurs to stop my shoulders getting too tense during the game and a mega-phone to shout abuse at the ref from the technical area over the noise of the capacity crowd. And the all important bald headed thug looking bloke to look angry all game (what is it with PL teams and angry looking Bald headed blokes - all the games I saw at the weekend had one) Anyone want any duty frees bringing over? Fags are already sold to help pay the cost of the place, but still have the booze and pong allowances available for auction Oh and my team WILL be playing 4 - 4 - FOOKIN - 2 After half a season managing Coombe Bissett FC way back when I reckon I have enough on my cv to manage Saints let alone half of you lot! (all we have to do now is hope we don't go bust before the game and find that Kranser cancels it and keeps our money)

I'm not letting lack of fitness stand in my way! - Live for today and let tomorrow take care of itself.... and why feel embarressed? Don't be shy sign up!
stevegrant Posted 23 March, 2009 Author Posted 23 March, 2009 Latest update: There is only one remaining 90 minute position - goalkeeper! There are 6 remaining 45 minute places, 3 central defenders, 1 left midfield and 2 central midfield.

Some may be worrying that they won't be able to keep up.
stevegrant Posted 23 March, 2009 Author Posted 23 March, 2009 Are you mods playing? Could you give an indication of fitness levels please Stve? Some may be worrying that they won't be able to keep up. Baj and I are both playing (and paying our way as well, before someone inevitably asks). Judging by the ages and playing levels of everyone who's playing, it really is a wide range. The ages range from 16 to 45 on the playing side (even older among the managers ), some play regularly at varying levels, others don't play regularly at all. Hopefully the teams are going to be reasonably well balanced. Did I get in then? Everyone who has registered so far is in, although I've not been able to fit everyone into their #1 position or their preferred time period (I don't think anyone had to be fitted in with a different position AND time). I had to do a bit of juggling to ensure everyone was in one of their three preferred positions.

Out of interest, seeing as it's now not just full members, could I sign up someone else at the same time? He'll only end up registering just for this anyway. Edited 23 March, 2009 by Saint_clark
SaintKenny Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 Anyone going to be sporting the pink/'berry' vapours? If so i'd advise you apply for a 45min slot
dubai_phil Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 Hey! enough with the ageism on here, UK's supposed to be PC these days
stevegrant Posted 24 March, 2009 Author Posted 24 March, 2009 3 playing places left - GK (90 mins) and 2 x centre-back (45 mins) Possibly one manager place left as well - the person who initially enquired about that hasn't got back to me since Friday night.
dannypope Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 How long you going to leave it for Steve? I am sure I am not the only one who doesnt mind paying a bit extra if you cant fill the remaining 3 places, although saying that not sure there would be many takers for goalkeeper amongst the existing lot!

Have you considered trying different formations? You could have the Anti's using 4-4-2 and the Pro Lowe's in a sort of "where am I supposed to be" diamond formation with only 2 at the back. BTW has the eldest player bar been raised yet?

Scrap the DVD and that should cover the cost of the missing players. I do think the add-ons may have put one or two off tbh, it started at about £90 for 45 minutes if memory serves me right.

Possibly, but then how would you decide who plays 90 mins out of those that paid for 45?

JustMike Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 yes the dvd must stay :-). i want something to play back when i need to laugh
Edmonton Saint Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 yes the dvd must stay :-). i want something to play back when i need to laugh Yes me too, The thought of seeing me trying to run for 90 minutes will be comedy gold !
hamster Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 Possibly, but then how would you decide who plays 90 mins out of those that paid for 45? Well I would not throw my name into the ring that's fsure, Nexxie. btw did you get in?

Scratch that idea then. Erm... Okay then, how about we don't give half the spectator money to charity? If everyone has 10 friends coming that should easily cover the shortfall. btw, I have another 5 that want to see me on a stretcher. I know what is coming.
Nexstar Posted 24 March, 2009 Posted 24 March, 2009 Well I would not throw my name into the ring that's fsure, Nexxie. btw did you get in? Yeah put myself down for 45, could probably last 90 but don't have the monies!
ooohTerryHurlock Posted 25 March, 2009 Posted 25 March, 2009 Put my self down for 45 mins - probably last about ten before i'm blowing out of my arse!..... actually can i play the second half as some of the pace might have gone out of te game by then!!!!hehehehehe:rolleyes:
ooohTerryHurlock Posted 25 March, 2009 Posted 25 March, 2009 What about the money Steve - when and how do you want it?
stevegrant Posted 25 March, 2009 Author Posted 25 March, 2009 I'll be sending out e-mails this evening detailing how/when money is to be paid. If those positions remain unfilled by tonight, they will remain open - I will figure out a way of ensuring all costs are covered in the meantime, which may involve slotting people who had asked to play 45 but said they didn't mind playing 90 if necessary into 90 minute slots, getting the full money from them and then refunding half if/when I manage to get someone to fill the 45-minute slot. So long as 11 positions are covered at £230 each (or 2x£115), the costs are covered. I haven't got my bit of paper where I'd managed to fit everyone into a team to hand at the moment (currently sat on a train to Waterloo), but if necessary I should be able to do a slight reshuffle to ensure there's 15 in each squad rather than 16 if necessary. Getting a second goalkeeper is kinda vital though, so if anyone knows anyone who would be willing to play in goal at a cost of £230, ask them to get in touch pretty urgently!

stevegrant Posted 25 March, 2009 Author Posted 25 March, 2009 Nearly there now... Only two places remaining - one is goalkeeper (90 mins), the other is either central or left midfield for 45 mins (position optional as there are people I can move across the midfield if necessary).
Tac-tics Posted 25 March, 2009 Posted 25 March, 2009 Id happily fill out the goalkeeper spot, but do not have £230 as I would of liked & i can see that being a stumbling block
prideofthesouth Posted 25 March, 2009 Posted 25 March, 2009 I will go in goal for a 1/4 of the match it will be fun!
Legod Third Coming Posted 25 March, 2009 Posted 25 March, 2009 We could just have 'Rush' goalie, or 'Scramble'. LOL. Priceless. I think the Premier League should play both!!!! Cheered me right up that has.
