frankie Posted 18 July, 2010 Share Posted 18 July, 2010 Pure guess but maybe Sunday is limited to 3 main race meetings ? Therefore why not use the tracks for different purposes. By the way mate I agree I think it's a great idea, be interested to know the crowds for these events though. Frankie
chrisobee Posted 19 July, 2010 Share Posted 19 July, 2010 (edited) Plenty of trends/info for the Oaks meeting at The Curragh and this is obviously the pick of the racing on Sunday. The Irish Oaks at 3.40 looks to be between Hibayeeb, Snow Fairy and Meeznah but since I can't really find the key to the race I'm going for a small ew bet on the interesting Eldalil to completely bust the trends and a very small win bet on Meezhah. In the 4.05 Airspace looks to be the pick though Luisant is very consistent and with the jockey taking off 7 lbs I'll have a very small ew bet on this one too. AP has a great book of rides at Newton Abbot and should pick up a few winners at least so may well back all 5 to very small stakes in one of Kip's favourites, a Super Yankee ! I think the 2 stand out picks are Rocklandslad and Bach Protector in the last 2, the former makes his hurdles debut in a poor race, the latter is very positive in the betting and with trainer Rebecca Curtis having a superb record in bumpers this should win with only Maid of Silk and Spe Salvi likely to get close. She also trains Rocklandslad so could be a Curtis/McCoy double. Earlier in the 4.05 Old Brigade has yet to prove his stamina over the trip so going for a small ew bet on Chico Time, my main concern being a 3 month lay off. Also a few at decent prices at Redcar. Newt 14:30 Sassanian to Win. Lost Curr 14:35 Rudolf Valentino lost Newt 15:00 Classic Swain Won 8/11 Curr 15:05 Latin Love Each Way Won 9/1/Emulous 2nd 7/2 Curr 15:40 Eldalil Each Way/Meezhah Lost x 2 Newt 16:05 Old Brigade/Chico Time Each Way Lost x 2 Curr 16:15 Park Ranger Lost Redcar 4.20- Peter Island Lost Newt 16:35 Rocklandslad NAP Lost Redcar 16.50 Very Well Read Won 8/1 Curr 16:45 Luisant 2 point win, 1 point place 2nd (head( 8/1/ Airspace Lost Newt 17:05 Bach Protector NB Lost Redcar 17.20 Indian Violet 2nd- 1/2l 7/1 Good luck !! Chris Well I did manage a couple of nice winners, the trends threw up Latin Love which duly obliged nicely at 9/1 and Very Well Read just got his head in front to win at 8/1 whilst Indian Violet ran well and only beaten by the short priced favourite. Luisant got beaten by a head at 8/1 but at least returned place money. Of course none of these selections were included in the tipping challenge ! The meeting at Newton Abbot was actually very amusing, I could not have predicted Sassanian would jump so badly though McCoy did coax him into 2nd place before performing a minor miracle to get Classic Swain home in front in the 3.00. I would not have predicted either that with no selection of my own I would see Frankie's selection also have a bit of a nightmare in the 3.30. The 4.05 saw both my selections including Old Brigade which Frankie also backed pulled up. Both Bach Protector and Rocklandslad were very poor. However, the highlight of the day was surely Leitra House in the 4.35 at Newton Abbot where the horse or jockey or both decided ( with very good logic it must be said) that the best way to get to the finishing post ahead was not to jump any of the hurdles and indeed said horse "led" for quite a long way before one of them realised this was not quite within the rules:lol: Needless to say this was another Frankie selection, you really could not make it up:D Still there is always another day and who knows what delights Monday will bring ! chrisobee Posted 19 July, 2010 Share Posted 19 July, 2010 Just a few very early thoughts on a couple of runners at Ayr on Monday. Although I havent given them a great deal of study you should keep an eye out for Cheveton and River Falcon who have both been dropped steadily down the weights this season. First Cheveton has been waiting for some ease in the going and hopefully he gets it now and the talented Andrew Heffernan takes off a further 3lb, he should go off at a decent price. Next up is River Falcon who has finally been dropped into a lower grade handicap, Class 4 and Paul Hanagan was booked a few days ago. He probably has been dropped far more than Cheveton and he should also be capable of going well at a big price. Im not saying both will win but they are lively outsiders that are capable of better than they have shown to date this season and both are worthy of ew support. chrisobee Posted 19 July, 2010 Share Posted 19 July, 2010 By the way mate I agree I think it's a great idea, be interested to know the crowds for these events though. Frankie Well entry at Newbury was free so I'd imagine they would have got a fair few thousand for a good day out. As for Harness Racing hard to think of anything more boring ! chrisobee Posted 19 July, 2010 Share Posted 19 July, 2010 (edited) It's only thanks to a pm from Frankie sent yesterday...... Sunday Bloody Sunday !!! that I'm even sure it is Monday. To make a hard day even more difficult you have Hannon to consider as his horses really are running very well at the moment, (5 winners on Saturday alone at around 1300/1 ! ) and Channon who runs several at Ayr including The Human League in the 5.30 which for no reason I can see has been very supported this morning. How you even start to unravel the 3.30 is totally beyond me with the top FIVE in the betting all around 4/1- 5/1 and that is even after the defection of Whispering Spirit. Factor in the draw with which I can only but agree with Alan Thompson on the ATR site; "With the stalls on the far side today it's hard to be dogmatic about the draw, which is something of a concern given that the last four races are all sprints.." and do nothing seems a wise move. Frankie may already have taken the hint ! However, without any real confidence and just so a few random tips do appear today a few I've looked at but at present only Cheveton is threatening to be a challenge thread bet but even then I'm inclined to go ew and now I'm not sure, despite basically with no help from Frankie and less than no help from anyone else having set the "rules", whether you can have a nb bet without having a NAP ( which is what I really need right now!). Ayr 14:30 Oasis Storm 2 point win, 1 point place : Goldenveil is the obvious choice but with Oasis Storm being backed on debut I'm opting for that as Goldenveil doesn't appeal at around even money. Ayr 15:00 Frontline Girl : Trying hard to be my NAP but the consistent Glenlucci may scupper this one. Ayr 16:00 Forrest Flyer : Not really sure why I'm bothering in yet another trappy race but at least the draw should have no bearing ! Ayr 16:30 Cheveton ew : Noted above, given a good chance by the handicapper but another wide open race AND over the minimum trip. However, in stall 4 alongside Favourite Girl who has won 3 times this season ( 3 from last 4 and a 2nd in fact ) it could be worse ! Ayr 17:00 River Falcon ew : Yet another wide open race, a tentative selection at best. Bev 19:00 Autumn Harvest Ew : Yet another wide open race, Autumn Harvest ran well on debut and if building on that can at least make the frame. Wind 19:40 Addictive Dream : Progressive type who looks the pick but with Hannon running 3 and Channon having Hairspray I'm not going overboard especially being drawn in stall 1. Wind 20.10 : Pearl Huntsman ew : Trained by Jeremy Noseda this three year old colt was fourth on his debut at Newmarket over seven furlongs. The step up to a mile and two furlongs is somewhat of an unknown factor ( not really bred to stay) but connections are expecting Tom Queally to give this horse every chance so worth a punt at around 7/1. Wind 20:40 Our Drama Queen : Ok, the Hughes/Hannon combination makes this likely NAP material even if the aptly named My Best Bet is another lurking in the shadows to put the mockers on. Very best of luck to everyone in the tipping challenge. Chris Edited 19 July, 2010 by chrisobee

frankie Posted 25 July, 2010 Share Posted 25 July, 2010 Some analysis for todays cards. Ascot 2.15 8 runner maiden with horses from 4 top stables represented, unless you have inside info then no real chance of picking the winner, although if I was made to choose a horse I would go for Escholido. 2.50 Another maiden this time for fillies, again some big stables represented, Sennockian Storm was well fancied on debut, she is a well bred type and cost a few quid, the 106 day absence may have meant she has had problems, if they are sorted I am sure she will give a good account of herself. 3.25 Again really hard to work out with nothing jumping off the page, Pin Cushion won her maiden impressivley but at the price of 3/10 she was expected to, so you'd have to think that form is a little weak, it may pay to go with last years connections in Dungannon, he is lightly raced and his form behind Dever Dream on his last run looks pretty solid, so its Dungannon for me...Pin Cushion has been declared a non runner as I type 4.00 The Which Doctor is a horse that I have backed many times, he has failed to show much form at all this season but id down to a good handicap mark as his price reflects, it is because of his price that I leave him alone, the odds in what look a competitive affair are prohibitive and value can be found elsewhere, Pendragon seems to be improving even at the age of 7 and if the money comes for him then he has to be feared as the stable like a little gamble, the horse I side with is the ultra consistent King's Masque, he has run well in all starts this season and may well have run his last race but for being hampered. 4.35 This is a proper little race with most of the runners having a good chance here, Both Johnston horses must be respected as the stable are flying, but Bay Willow has a bit to find with Times Up and Record Breaker isnt the most consistent of animals, although he has won on course and distance and is on a very tempting handicap mark, Tmies Up for John Dunlop won well last time but I am still unsure about the stables form, one stable that is flying at the moment is David Elsworth, his horse Ouster finished behind both Times up and Bay Willow but could well reverse the form and is a decent price, one for each way money is Red Merlin, he had some fantastic form last year and despite being below par this year Clive Cox horses seem to be running better now and he could go well at a big price. 5.10 A massive 5 furlong sprint to finish, my main fancy Ziggy Lee is a non runner so I have to find another now, Monsieur Joe has a good profile but my two against the field are the ultra consistent and tough Hamish McGonagall and Rapid Water who will hopefully show his true potential with the visor applied. All in all not a bad card Pontefract 2.05 Best to leave alone but I expect a better run from Piceno than he has shown on two starts so far. 2.40 A lot depends on Explorators involvement in the race after running yesterday, even so best to leave alone I think 3.15 Sea Land looks to be coming back to form and on a very tempting handicap mark is my pick 3.50 Too trappy for me, not a bad little race but too many question marks about the runners, Light From Mars is a massive price though and holds some interest. 4.25 Stevie Gee holds some interest to me in this race as he is a horse I have often backed, but Cornus looks a good bet, he has run really well this year and has won over this course and distance, his last run in a big York race was a good effort and he could quite easily bounce back here. 5.00 Maiden that looks between Entitled and Autumn Riches, best to leave it alone. 5.30 Comptonspirit is flying at the moment and could well go in again, but looks poor value, Darcy's Pride is down to her last winning mark and she is reproduced quickly after running Friday. Carlisle 1.50 Extremely short priced favourite, a watching brief 2.25 A pretty weak claimer, Plush has some really good all weather form, Tom Dascombes yard are coming back to form and he can take a hand in this weak race, Biglybonglyboo has a great name but looks an awful horse. 3.00 Cant really find anything I like here so will leave well alaone. 3.35 A ladies event and Sarah Brotherton seems to be winning these for fun at the moment and she does have a chance on Overrule, but one of more interest is The Last Alzao, the jockey has a 2/2 record on this horse and hopefully make it 3/3 today. 4.10 No Bet 4.45 No Bet 5.20 Just has to be Franki J, she is unexposed and has the able rider Andrea Atzeni on board, a small improvement in form would see her take a hand in a weak handicap. Good luck all Frankie

frankie Posted 1 August, 2010 Share Posted 1 August, 2010 Any for Newbury today old chap? Here are my brief thoughts on Newbury mate. 2.10 An Amateur riders handicap and not one to waste much money on, I would have a few quid on Alternative Choice who at least won last time out is ridden by a relative of the trainer so should know the horse well. 2.45 Another amateur contest and I like the look of Dashing Doc here, he seems to be returning to form and the stable are in good heart, the danger could be Mister Benedictine on his return to the flat. 3.20 A maiden and probably best to watch the market and see what is being backed, Hannon is flying and his Moriarty should improve for his first run and a drop back in trip, keep an eye on Aramid at a nice price too as he could surprise. 3.50 Doesnt get any easier mate, a 7 furlong nursery and plenty in with chances, again it could pay to side with Hannons two main runners, but I like the look of Malice or Mischief, who but for being hampered last time out may well have won. 4.30 A cracking little race and many have chances, but I like the look of Pipette, his second last time to Snow Fairy looks very good form, the extra 2 furlongs should help and the tongue tie is being applied, if all that fails then Pachattack looks a good alternative. 5.00 The Name is Frank has improved since the stable changed tactics of blasting out to lead instead of holding him up and is he does that today he could well have these stretched and win, he is the value selection over Desert Poppy, who looks good but will be short odds. 5.30 A tricky final race but a few pound on Red Intrigue on her handicap debut could well get you a return, she improved with every run last year and the stable can get them ready after a layoff. A tricky day in all mate, my nap would probably be Pipette, but to be honest I am not hugely confident about any of them, still have a great day mate, and fingers crossed you get a winner or two.
