chrisobee Posted 23 April, 2010 Share Posted 23 April, 2010 There goes our good run then Chris..... Will post my Saturday selections first thing in the morning, before I go to footy...don't like Saturdays for racing much as a rule, normally a mugs day :-) Frankie Yep, I generally concentrate on the CH4 races just for a bit of interest, would rather be at SMS but the journey from here by tube and coach/train is a nightmare. Took me EIGHT hours to get down at Xmas ! So my "home" games are places like Milton Keynes, Northampton and of course my favourite Wembley If you are on here early enough which I guess you will be I don't know if you read my Betfair thread but this is definitely worth doing for a free chance of a £50 bet, my picks of Barca, Real, Inter, Werder Bremen and Benifica are all very short so I should have a decent chance. Well that's the theory anyway ! http://www.facebook.com/Betfair?v=wall&story_fbid=117075498310362 Enjoy the game tomorrow. Cheers, Chris
chrisobee Posted 24 April, 2010 Share Posted 24 April, 2010 A few early thoughts : Sandown: 3.05 The Package ew : Disappointed at Aintree but an unlucky loser IMO at the Cheltenham Festival. Timmy Murphy, who knows the horse well, is back in the plate today and I'd expect a good run today, 9/1 looks good value. 3.40 Paco Boy : Not an original selection but Richard Hannon has a tremendous record in the Bet365 Mile and Paco Boy returns in a bid to make it back-to-back wins in the race. Unbeaten at 7f, including in the Group 1 Total Prix De La Foret at Longchamps, the five-year-old has also proved himself very effective over a mile. He won this Sandown race cosily last year but was more impressive in the Queen Anne Stakes, where he left the field for dead with a powerful burst of acceleration before the furlong pole. His two flops in 2009 were easily explained, particularly in the Lockinge when it was found he had an infected off-fore hoof. Hannon has a big season planned for Paco Boy, taking in the Lockinge and Queen Anne Stakes again and the yard could not be in better form at present. Leicester 3.35 Alyarf : Barry Hills has won two of the last four runnings of the Listed Leicestershire Stakes and Alyarf has been laid out for this year's renewal. Well regarded, the US-bred has Group entries at York next month, including in the Lockinge Stakes and the Golden Jubilee Stakes at Ascot is also an option. He has speed to burn and was impressive in winning a Listed race at Newmarket last May. Now a four-year-old, he is very lightly-campaigned, capable of smart form and this race should be perfect en route to better things. Not a great price at around Evens but does look to be the one to beat. chrisobee Posted 24 April, 2010 Share Posted 24 April, 2010 Sandown 2.00 Catch Bob ew : Catch Bob may have more to come over this trip and shouldnt be too far away with Graham Lee taking over the reins. 8/1 looks a fair enough price. Sandown 2.30 Twist Magic: Try as I might I can't get away from this quirky horse which refused to run at Punchestown earlier this week. However, has excellent record over C&D, winning this last year as well as the Tingle Creek twice. Undoubtedly the one to beat if in mood.
chrisobee Posted 24 April, 2010 Share Posted 24 April, 2010 Ripon 2 races live on CH4 though not easy to figure out especially with my 2 initial fancies Capercaillie( 2.15) and Bothy ( 3.25) both non runners so a waste of time that was. However, back to the drawing board and we have.. 2.15 The Only Boss:A very tricky race, The Only Boss is a physically imposing type who made giant strides as a juvenile and looks worth supporting now going handicapping. Midnight Martini and Comedy Hall are others worth considering. 3.25 My Arch : Again not a race to get really involved in if at all. However, My Arch best known for exploits over jumps in recent years showed he could still mix it on the Flat when gamely landing 2m handicap at Musselburgh recently and fair claims again from 3 lb higher. However, really hard to discount anything in this race which would go into my book as "next to impossible ! "
frankie Posted 24 April, 2010 Share Posted 24 April, 2010 Theres a couple of horses I really fancy today so putting them here, then my other selections in a thread after. 5.15 Leicester Tilsworth Glenboy is yet to win a race but has been unlucky on a couple of occasions, he should have won on his seasonal debut, then when well punted last time out was impeded at the start of the race and found trouble in running later, discount that run and he has a great chance. Watch for money on this as well as the Jenkins yard often like to punt their horses. 4.35 Ripon Molly Mylenis would surely have won last time after being badly hampered and still nearly winning, Dascombes Coconut Ice looks useful, but I am hoping that Molly can lead them a merry dance. frankie Posted 24 April, 2010 Share Posted 24 April, 2010 Sandown 1.00 Flat V jump jockey race so nothing can be punted with any confidence, so I will have a speculative punt on Aurora Sky 1.30 Apartman is an interesting runner here, he was a useful horse on the flat in the Czech Republic, he hacked up over hurdles last year and has now joined Nicholls, in a field of pretty exposed horses i'm having a few quid on him 2.00 A tricky race, I fancy Optimus Maximus but he is a bit of an unknown so will have Benetwood, he was in good form before going lame on his last run, he has a big weight but enjoys this ground and could run well at a big weight 3.05 Gold Cup, I fancy a bit of an outsider in this, Church Island has ran well here before and his last two runs have been over hurdles, back over these bigger obstacles and with the blinkers back on he should give a good account of himself. 3.40 I love Paco Boy, but his price is pretty low and this is a tough little race, I am going with the unbeaten Prince of Dance, he is progressing in the right direction, the trainer is in great form and he will have improved over the summer..I looked at Pressing but he has yet to win in the UK so I have steered clear of him. 4.15 Another tricky race, I was going to tip Glass Harmonium but I love Tranquil Tigers attitude, he always runs a good race and he has a good recent record over 1mile 2f...at the price I have to side with him Right I have to run for the boat...will attempt to write the rest of my selections on my phone on the boat so will not be a massive write up. chrisobee Posted 24 April, 2010 Share Posted 24 April, 2010 Paco Boy today, is he a good thing at Sandown? Well I've gone for Paco Boy, Frankie for Prince of Dance which I suspect will be the main danger. For me Paco Boy looks hard to oppose but at around 5/4 I'd not be inclined to have too much on him. saintkiptanui Posted 24 April, 2010 Share Posted 24 April, 2010 Loads I fancy today. Paco boy and laaheb in a double at Sandown. Punchestown looks like a day for favourites. Freneys well in the first with Nina Carberry, thats all you need to know, she is class. Tarla in the 2nd, willie mullins horse and been well backed. Chasing cars in the 3rd, won yesterday really impressively. Carlitto Brigante in the next to reverse form with Barizan 5.35 Cest ca, Mullins for the record winners at the festival. frankie Posted 25 April, 2010 Share Posted 25 April, 2010 Wooow, not a bad day again managed to tip the Gold Cup winner, Church Island at a tasty 20/1, should have stuck with Glass Hormonium who won as well, but other than that had: Ripon Bothy a non runner, Sands Crooner was a good second and King of Wands won at 6/4 Market Rasen: Gilbary won at 100/30 Wolverhampton: Nayessence won at 13/8 after a late tip Haydock: Pretty poor really but Danderek and Offchance ran well to be placed third. frankie Posted 25 April, 2010 Share Posted 25 April, 2010 A few fancies for today: Bath 2.40 Yarra River ran well as a juvenile, his trainer is flying and likes to get a winner at Bath, he has been gelded as well which should help his cause 3.50 Callisto Moon was very consistent last year, he has been hurdling so fitness will not be a problem and he loves this ground. 4.25 A cracking little race with plenty in with chances Golden Destiny doesnt seem to start the season too well, often coming good towards the end of the campaign, Tomintoul Singer has great form, especially the run behind Puff but Cecils often need the first run, so I am going for Gilt Edge Girl who has done little wrong, she always seems to run a good race, and her seasonal debut when an unlucky second should put her just right. After the jumps season finished yesterday....it starts again today...bizarre Ludlow 3.05 Benedict spirit has been flying on the flat for Evans, and his 2nd last time out was a good run, his jumping can sometimes be iffy, but this longer trip should help. 3.40 Both Evan Williams and Tim Vaughan seem to do well with the summer jumpers so are worth following, both have runners in this but I am going for some value with Williams Lucaindubai who showed some promise last time out. Nothing I really fancy at Wetherby Navan: 1.55 A huge field but Solent Ridge came back to form with an excellent third last time out and if he runs to that form he could take this. 5.05 Swinbank sends over Merchant of Dubai, he is in great heart and would surely not have made the trip if not in with a big chance Good luck all Frankie

Frankie Church Island was a very nice winner ! Paco Boy turned out to be just about the only good thing of the day though I did NAP Sands Crooner who ran well to finish 2nd at 8/1 and also Ezdeeyad which finished just in the places though the price collapsed from the early 14/1 into 9/2 not that I was worried having got the early price. Somehow, more by luck than judgement, managed to pick Backspin who won at 7/1 at Punchestown but had not 1p on it ! I mentioned Bothy as a NR before you posted it hence my going for My Arch which was another which ran well but 2nd at 6/1. All in all a typical Saturday and today is a day of rest as may be tomorrow which doesn't look inspiring. No idea of today's results ( other than Kip's "bad luck" with a 2nd) so hope it was a good one Cheers, Chris

frankie Posted 25 April, 2010 Share Posted 25 April, 2010 A few during the day I fancy, will post tomorrow evenings when I get in from work. Newcastle. 4.10 Captain Dunne contested in the best sprint handicaps last year, he is a very quick horse that always runs well. lets hope he does today as well. Wolverhampton 3.30 It just has to be Woolston Ferry, he likes this 7furlongs, and if he runs as well as he did at Lingfield last month he will surely take all the beating, he has course and distance form too, which is important at Wolverhampton. 5.05 Channons Lucky Leigh has tumbled down the handicap recently, she has had two runs to get her right, this isnt the strongest of races so wont take much winning. Towcester 2.50 Benmore Boy has a terrible recent record, but he likes this course and if completing the race could give the favourite a real race, going over chase fences instead of hurdles may bring about some improvement. chrisobee Posted 25 April, 2010 Share Posted 25 April, 2010 Chris maybe the price collapse was due to you picking it mate, might be more keeping an eye on this forum than we know :-) Frankie Now if that were true Frankie all we would need to do is back all your tips early doors and then lay them as the prices collapse and profit assured each and every day Oh of course we can also safely lay all of Kips tips, I wonder if unlucky is his middle name Come on Man City you can do it !! Didn't know Woolston Ferry was running even though I have it listed on at least 2 sites as one to notify me of when running. Looks a tricky little race to be honest.Zeffirelli the main danger ? chrisobee Posted 26 April, 2010 Share Posted 26 April, 2010 (edited) A few of interest at Wolverhampton: 3.00 Call to Arms NAP : Not a great price but definitely the one to beat. Won easily when landing a Lingfield maiden on his reappearance in February and he looks to be well treated for his handicap debut off a mark of 79 and he can overcome his high draw with the early speed that he normally shows so gets the vote ahead of Admin and Night Trade. Frankie on board a definite plus. Admin might be worth a small saver at 8/1 3.30 As much as I like Woolston Ferry this is a very open race, will probably have a few quid on him at 9/2 but Zeffirelli and Foreign Investment in particular look dangers. 4.30 This is a really trappy race, Fremen is a worthy favourite but faces stiff opposition especially from Plush ( which would be my pick if I needed to make one) and New Star in particular but aside from Cantabilly ( which will probably now go and win !) wouldn't discount any of the others. 5.05 Lucky Leigh certainly looks over priced at around 7/1 but I'll be a watcher only in this one and hope MC can do Frankie a favour ! Windsor 5.40 Captain Cool ew : Bepopalula look certain to go off as short priced favourite especially as Frankie who seems to be everywhere rides this one as well ! It took Captain Cool 17 races to get off the mark, Richard Hannon's horse might be the type to follow up now that he has got his head in front. With a case to be made for several I'm going ew at 6/1 ( Stan James ) on Captain Cool whose record this term reads 432521. Newcastle 2.40 Lovelace : Only 5 go to post but still a tricky little race. However, now trained by Dandy Nichols I'd expect a bold show from Lovelace and think he can get the better of main market rival Dream Lodge who tends not to run well 1st time out, been off track for 205 days. LA77 Posted 26 April, 2010 Share Posted 26 April, 2010 No worries, Woolston Ferry ran a stinker as did Call To Arms though the latter was pulled up by Dettori and was clearly not right. At least, at last I got the benefit in a photo finish, Lovelace just squeaking home from Dream Lodge. Indeed, and woolston ferry was backed in to 7/2 from 6's. And ironically I've somehow managed to put the thumbs down icon up the top. How the fook do i get rid of that?
frankie Posted 26 April, 2010 Share Posted 26 April, 2010 A few for this afternoon. Yarmouth 3.10 Aqua Vitae must be respected now in handicap company, he hasnt shown too much in his three runs so far, yet is on a very low mark of 60 for his handicap debut, I expect to see a much improved run...if he fails to improve on his maiden form then a big price on Reach for the Sky, who was formerly useful for Richard Hannon and will win soon at a big price. 4.40 Another Mark Johnston horse took my eye in this, Epic looks a nice sort, he was a little unlucky on his last run as he was squeezed for room at the furlong marker, hopefully Greg Fairley will get him into the lead early and have the others struggling at the furlong pole. Lingfield 2.30 Gra Andhmar is a steadily improving sort and his fitness may tell, the booking of jockey Jamie Spencer is interesting..dangers to him are Hannons and Gosdens, but as I say the experience of a recent run should be of benefit 4.00 Michael Bell is in superb form and he runs Madame Roulin here, as a juvenile she ran over a mile and a mile 1 furlong and didnt look to stay, this 7furlongs should be much more to her liking. 5.00 I fancy a small win on Learo Dochais, he won here last year but hasnt really come on for that run, the cheekpieces are fitted today and Phillip Robinson is back in the saddle so I hope for a return to form. Good luck all Frankie
chrisobee Posted 27 April, 2010 Share Posted 27 April, 2010 (edited) 3.20 Wincanton Milena Four Star NAP- Minella Four Star is too well handicapped to ignore judged on his recent second at Cheltenham and will take some stopping if his jumping continues to stay sound. 4.20 - Wincanton - Regional Counsel -Jenny Potts, Crazy Gold and Regional Counsel come into this race in the best form and it's the latter that is preferred. This is only his ninth start over hurdles and he was only beaten by a very progressive rival at Bangor last time out with the selection four and a half lengths clear of the third in a competitive eight runner affair. The first time tongue tie which helped him there is retained and this formerly useful flat performer has winning form on fast ground. He is 16 pounds better off with Weststern for a three length defeat at Fakenham in November and should turn that form round. The stable send just the one to the races today. 5.00 - Lingfield: Bob's Dreamflight /Plumage - The kind of race which could be run a dozen times with a different result each time. On this occasion tentative votes go to Bob's Dreamflight and Plumage. Bob's Dreamflight has been seen over 5-7 furlongs in a 17 race career but he has returned to form this month in two outings over today's trip. He was narrowly beaten by Waterloo Dock over C/D in his penultimate outing, and that sees him closely weighted with Mr Skipiton. He has fitness and the draw in his favour here. He followed that with a two length third to Kyllachy storm at Kempton. he was a length behind Musical Script but that rival is better at Kempton than he is here. At a bigger price the reappearing Plumage could go well if she is fit and ready. She was seen at 7/8 furlongs until her reappearance last season but she hasn't disappointed in six attempts over six furlongs since. Three times a runner up in six A/W outings she is still on a feasible mark and could possibly find further improvement at sprint trips this season. She makes her debut for a yard with a 21% strike rate at this track yielding a l.s.p of £26 in recent seasons. 6.05 - Nottingham - Desert Strike Although Desert Strike doesn't looks attractive at around 3/1 in a 15 runner field it could be generous if he is in the same kind of mood as he was here ten days ago. He finished 5/17, beaten just over three lengths, but he was very keen throughout and yet finished full of running after being denied racing room in the latter stages. Richard Hughes takes over from an Amateur and, even though not well drawn today, if his jockey can get him cover and the gaps appear at the right time, he looks the likeliest winner in a field of mainly exposed horses. His performances tailed off last season but the form he showed earlier, and his profile overall, suggests he is well handicapped on a mark of 60. He hasn't had many chances on turf and, unlike his opponents, may still be open to improvement. Edited 27 April, 2010 by chrisobee
