2.25 Dolly Penrose Newmarket 20-1 Channon horse goes today.

Unfortunately Dolly P followed the trend of Channon horses not doing great when mentioned on here ( in fact most horses mentioned don't do great!). Finished 7th at 20/1 I think it was, was very weak in the market which is often an ominous sign.

Bang 2.10 Skippers Brig

Best of luck chrisobee

Thanks, the 1st 2 are shorter than I hoped so gone for a win double. The 2.10 at Bangor looks pretty competitive, you can get 5/1 on Skippers Brig on Betfair but only 7/2 at Totesport. I think Just Smudge might be the main danger.

Hennessy Gold Cup

Denman wins this. Betfair have him at 9/2 to win but the evens on offer to be placed is massive. I fancy My Will at attractive e/w price of 28/1.

Paul Nicholls does not seem as certain, of course he may be just talking down Denman's chances as trainers often do ? I would be very suprised if he was not placed at least.

Interesting read. Denman is 8lb down in the ratings from his Gold Cup win. His run in the last Gold Cup was simply a fantastic training performance. At his best he is better than Kauto, question is how close is he to his best. It is rare for him to finish out of the frame, they pay to 4th, evens looks more than fair to me.

I just think My Will is overpriced, considering the price that What a Friend and Barbers Shop are. My Will has competed at the top and never really let himself down. The weather forecast for the rest of the week suggests he will have his ground

My Will is fluctuating quite a lot in the market and whilst you can currently get 35/1 on BF and WBX Corals are as short as 20/1. Receiving 17lb from Denman after the Gold Cup I reckon he'll run well at a decent price. Barbers Shop looks rock solid in the market at a best priced 6/1 but I'm not convinced about his stamina, What A Friend is another that is fluctuating a fair bit and presently out to 42/5 on BF but only 6 at Betfred. However, was well beaten in the RSA Chase at Cheltenham and needs to find plenty IMO.

Currently and unsurprisingly the over round figure is 116% so value is going to be hard to find I suggest. BTW Denman a best priced 4/1 now.

Early fancies for Newbury on Saturday :

1.35 With only 7 going to post and Big Bucks unbackable at 2/5 it looks like a case of which horse will finish 2nd. Duc De Regniere looks the most likely contender.

2.40 I hope Denman wins despite backing My Will at 35/1. Now only 30/1 on BF so I'm hoping he will shorten further.

Denman was simply awesome yesterday. One of the best performances I have seen by a chaser. When Ruby put The Tank to the front with a circuit to go the writing was on the wall.

Would Kauto Star put up the same performance? I have my doubts. Roll on Cheltenham Festival. Hopefully we will Denman v Kauto with both of them in good health. Only one winner for me.
