No, "Come on Saints", stay up without relying on everybody else to lose!

Someone please tell the coach and players.

Rally in the streets guys. They don't seem to be up for it if we don't set the example like we did last month.

still be alot easier if a team with games in hand lose

2-0 barnsley

Don't know,do palarse still believe thay have a chance of making the plays-off?

I see that QPR still think they're in with a chance despite being 10 points behind the 6th placed side and having played a game more.

Some of these managers will say anything to get an extra fan into the stadium.

Don't think QPR have got much of a chance tbh, i thought they were as bad if not worse than us on Saturday.

If Barnsley win they then go on to 43 points with a game in hand. Meaning 4 points clear of us. Our attention then moves from Forest to Norwich to get out of the drop zone. Who are 3 points clear of us and with a massive 8 goals better goal difference then us. Meaning we would return to needing 4 points to get out of the drop zone.

Thus meaning if Barnsley win it will be another big blow to us.

If it stays 2-1 then we see forest (41pts) drop into the bottom 3 with Norwich then Plymouth above them on 42pts, but the better goal difference means even if we win our game in hand on them both we would be below them - suddenly it looks so much worse than before Barnsley kicked off:(

all the teams at the bottom are fighting for their lives,we are just not fighting as hard as them!

charlton are as good as gone and i still think forest are going, the last spot could be one of 6 teams and we are a good candidate.

we need to stay in this league under our own steam as none of the teams around us are going to do us any favours and nor should they, they want what we want, its just a matter of who wants it more and who has the better ability to achieve it.

relying on other teams will only end in tears.

Were they the missing words Mike?

Just a laugh, as I remember the words we used to sing, rather fitting really. IMO.

That result changes little, we still have to show more committment and quality than Forest and Plymouth.

Barnsley have more fight than we do, sad but true.

What I don't understand is how we got to the point where we are a smaller/less equipped/worse-organised club than Doncaster, Swansea, etc etc.

There are numerous other threads on this topic. Please insert the name of the person you blame here:

over last 8 games we have done better than;

Barnsley

Norwich

Blackpool

Plymouth

Notts F

Charlton

even over last 4 we are better than;

Barnsley

Plymouth

Notts F

Charlton

Facts say we are fighting harder than the others and doing better - specially as before that period they were doing better than us.

No doubt.

But how we finish may depend on who we play and who the other candidates play.

I have broken this down into 5 categories.

Teams battling it out for automatic promotion=AP

Teams with serious play-off chances PO

Mid Table, nothing to play for really= MT

Relegation is a possibility (more or less) =RT

Charlton who are already as good as down=C.

Obviously these categories change with every result but to date it goes

for teams in 18th -23rd place:

Saints 1AP,1PO,3MT,2RT 1C

Forest 1AP,2PO,1MT,3RT,

Blackpool 1AP,2PO,OMT,3RT1C

Norwich 2AP,1PO,3MT,1C

Plymouth 1AP,2PO,3MT,2RT

Barnsley 2AP,2PO,3MT,2RT

So in theory Forest have the hardest run-in in terms of teams who have

exterior motivation other than wanting to win for the sake of winning.

Closely followed by Blackpool

However if we can't score goals all that makes little difference because no matter how much we want to win-we won't.

Charlton can have a major bearing on who else goes down and as we have seen many times before once the pressure is off relegated teams often start winning games. Things look bleak, but then again they have all season and it comes as no surprise we are where we are.
