Saints 0-0 QPR - Match Reaction

Arizona

Recommended Posts

We just don't Seem to have any sparK in midfield. If today's game was, As it sounded, an even more boring copy of the Derby match, it's just hoofball. There's no Creativity there. We need someone in midfield with a bit of flair. An experiencEd player who can lead the younger lads. Someone who can put a decent cross in and chip in with a few goaLs of his own. If only we had a player like that.

Just back, and I'd say we were lucky to get the point - but not entirely because we played badly. Really unfocussed, nervous, scrappy game, but for the first time in ages I think that the officials really did play a part in that. They were shocking, and the ref lost control in the first half, completely cowed by a very physical and nasty QPR side.

Erm.....aren't we undeated in 4 games? How does that compare to recent form tables of other sides?

Don't be so damn negative - I'm sure we'll stay up on this form.

I'll say it again at the risk of sounding like a broken record, but draws - home draws at that - are not going to do the job at the business end of the season. "This form", as you put it, is not going to get us a 50% win ratio in the next 8 games - the very record others are stating we need to stay up.

My god Euell and Skacel are horrific.

First half was stupidly boring, 2nd half was better and we should have won. I think we will be ok, its going to be close but 6 points from our next 2 would make this and the Derby point look alot better.

2 home draws in a week & only 2-points from 6 available against eminently beatable opposition is just not good enough. Just got in & from initial reports from what I've read we sound like we've not really created any clear cut chances again. I know its not over yet but it's getting increasingly difficult to see where the wins are going to come from to keep us up. We just don't seem to have what it takes. Struggled all season to score goals & ultimately that is what will do for us. Draws just don't cut it at this end of the season. Hope I'm wrong but fear the worst now, these last two games were crucial but instead of kicking on we've fallen backwards again.

Agree with you Soccermum. We were very lucky to come away with a point for the second home game in a row i felt. What has happened to us? We had 3 really good results matched with good performances and now we have had 3 dire ones?

This game was almost as awful as the Derby game. We looked clueless and if we played until this time next year with no opponents on the pitch we still wouldn't of created anything.

2 points from the last 9, 2 of those home games not looking good at all. Blackpool winning was a big blow for us as Barnsley have 2 games in hand on us so chances are they will get out of it. 4 massive points that have passed us by. On current form i don't think the last game of the season vs Forest will matter at all as we will both be down by then.

Whoever it was who once said draws are what kill you was right.

We got a week off now until the Blackpool game. In midweek Barnsley play one of their games in hand. We have to beat Blackpool, that for me is the game of games. Lose/draw that one and i think we would need to win 5 of the 7 to stay up and that will not happen.

we could have played until next week and still not scored, will someone please tell me why it is that DMG stayed on for the whole game????? come to think of it, why does he start every game?????

Who else was there on the bench?? that's the problem, saga,DMG,lallana all woeful apparently yet we just had BWP(;););)) and at the limit Thompson as attacking options. We're down to the bare bones and what you see is what we have.

Oh sorry are they keeping some of your mates out of team?

They weren't great today, but they've definitely improved the team in recent months (Especially Euell). The real reason we are down we are is because of useless players like your buddies NoGoaldrick and Lancersh*t.

Can't believe people are claiming we didn't create anything...

Surman is going to have 2 or 3 more threads made all for himself after todays 2/3 vile attempts at scoring from 8 yards out.

Euell has had at least 2 horrible attempts a goal plus a couple where his posistional sense and strength has given him everything he's needed to take a touch, look up, pick a spot and finish but only to see him prove he's got the touch of Ian Huntley and couldn't finish a packet of crisps.

Plus I've just remembered Lallana's sitter.

We created chances we just cant score.

ok so why not play AL in the hole and have Jake on the right? I just dong get how it is that DMG plays all the time, he was non existant today and yet still managed to play the 90

To be fair to Euell he's done well the last few weeks. You can't defend his performance today and his actual ability when it comes to controlling a ball and nor can you argue the fact that Skacel has actually failed to perform for this club going forward and today got roasted by Routledge, who wound him up so much he resorted to getting skinned and then taking him out on a regular basis.

You can slag McGoldrick off all you want, he was better than Euell today and I've never spoke to him in my life so i'm not his buddy but don't let that stop you slagging him for no real reason other than you like most people on this forum need a scapegoat despite him being alot better lately.

Mate, you need glasses. Euell actually put himself about well but his finishing was woeful. McGoaldrought played like a drain. Mind you, they all did.

A woeful example of the worst kind of boll0x awful football that is driving away fans in their droves.

I'd rather remove my own spleen than watch another game like that.

In fact, just bottle that game and sell it as an anaesthetic...

Very poor, no real threat other than Surman.

Yes he missed a couple of easy chances but until he breaks from midfield are attacks are sterile , if only Lallana would do the same thing on the right, the one time he ran at them directly he split them open , missed.

After that display i fear that any team who sets out not to lose and get 10 behind the ball will hold us to a draw at best for us

If ever there were two 'must wins' it is now Blackpool and Charlton; a couple of raggy 1-0's will be fine. Looking at the table, form, and fixtures, I think we need to ensure we are watching Forest and Plymouth. Forget the rest, I think they are 2 we can certainly overhaul.

I'll have £50 with you. I bet we will go down. You bet we will stay up. Do you accept the bet?

I wouldn't as its still so up in the air, I am guessing you wouldn't be confident enough to put every penny you have on it, so maybe have some hope still!;)

According to Hopkins, Skacel has been the worst player on the pitch in every games he's played this season. Either he is Derek Riordan or he just has some weird obsession.

In a game where we kept a clean sheet and had, by the sounds of it, two shots on goal, I struggle to believe our left back was the main instigator.

Two shots on goal? Did I blink.

One shot from Gillett that frankly would have struggled to cross the line under its own steam and Lallana opting to use his right foot to dissect post and corner flag when his left foot would have seen the net bulge...

Have we ever won a "must-win" game?

I accept losing. I'm a SAINT so I've grown up with it. But today was awful. Last week I watched beaten horses give more to finish 13th at Cheltenham. Where was the anger, fight, heart, passion and will that's required in our position?? One booking for a rash challenge? I would like to have seen a bit more tackling and a bit less pedestrian observation...

All that's required is to reignite the passion that saw us win three on the spin against three top sides. What the hell went wrong???

Top of the table sides probably play to win and not play to draw and consider themselves lucky if they get a flukey goal.5 across midfiekld says only 1 thing, we're here for the draw try to break us down and make sure we don't hit you on the break;

To win that sort of match you need individual talent, some-one who can distill

a nano-second of pure footballing magic. Unfortunately we don't have that sort of player available just now,you also need someone who, if they get a clear shot at goal ,won't f**k it up..

I'm sure that they all put in a lot of effort but got frustrated by the continuing misses on goal again. If you look at our 3 wins of late they all have one common factor-we scored fairly early, settles therm down in my opinion.

Let's face it the stakes are pretty high in every game now and I doubt that any of our attacking players are really comfortable with the pressure, either because they don't give a toss or because they want to win but are unsure of their ability to do so.I'm sure that this is Surman's problem, the pressure has got to him because he wants to win so badly for the club he loves.Unless of course being a dad (a relatively young one at that) is getting to him. Some blokes don't overate it, I know this I wasn't very comfortable with it either.

To quote Bill Shankly: "We murdered them 0-0."

QPR had more shots, more shots on goal, more corners and more possession.

It was a boring game, neither side deserved to win.

The ref bottled 2 nailed on handball decisions, one for each side in the 2nd half.

Today I thought Surman was the one bloke on the park who really WAS trying. Some of his colleagues - Saga, McG, Lallana prime among them - simply strolled around for long periods.

The key to our Cardiff win was that we chased and harried from front to back. Today we didn't. We meandered through the game. Not good.

Well as everyone already knows I don't rate Lallana, I think he's way out of his depth and his presence is like playing with 10 men to me.Saga"s always been like that, he blows hot and cold, probably needs a rest again but as we have no viable alternative it's not likely..

Not saying he isn't trying, probably trying too hard because he loves the club.

But he's missed a couple of sitters, so have others and situation is obviously getting to them;

If we're blaming someone for missing sitters then surely we should be discussing Jason Euell.
