How the "locals" in Luton welcome home British soldiers

Having read your post, it's plain to see how much of a hypocrite you are!!

You spout off about moral bankruptcy, but then wish cancer upon someone.

I don't think his post is wishing cancer on anyone.

Just pointing out one of the potential side effects of casual racism. That fact that he was suggestion that SRS might want to go to his GP seems to be demonstrating compansion towards another another person to me

And to Jeff, very well said.

If you are sickened by his thread then that's fine, Entitled to your own opinion :)

Are we entitled to our own opinions again now, as earlier you said that unless I agreed with you I should put you on ignore as what you said was the only facts allowed? I wish you would stop all this changing.

I am fully aware of the politics and history behind it all.

What I do know, is that the vast majority of Republican people hated me when I was on patrol, would spit at me, petrol bombs, and in one instance shoot ( but miss, lol ) .

Whereas Protestant people would invite me into their house for a cup of tea, shake my hand and teh ladies would flash their boobies.

Excuse me for being a bit biased. :-)

Yep you're right Stu - I haven't been there. The Irish question was part of my A level History studies so I've only got an 'academic' opinion, not a practical one.

However, given the history, I can understand, although not condone, the actions of Republicans in spitting at representatives of those they consider to be the oppressors and perpetrators of crimes in the past.

So I can well understand your bias (especially the boobies bit) :)

Firstly I am disgusted that whoever shot at you missed, how ? always put yourself across as a big unit ? but in all seriousness my cousins and my partner grew up over there during these times and they have stories of how, when 13/14/15 years old leaving for school soldiers crouched in their doorways, behind garden walls etc.. would make lewd suggestions, they are balanced individuals so are able to reconcile it for what it was but one of their brothers struggles to do so, everybody has a story, I'm sure some soldiers have had pleasant experiences of Catholics, I always find its easy just to not prejudge anyone because of their colour or relegion

Something along the lines of, "And Stu, if those proddy birds show you their boobies they may want phucking, so use a condom, got it?"

Having served 22 years in the Army and doing 3 stints in Ireland I think I have the right to call you a ***** for them comments.

You civvies know fook all. Try getting out of you ivory towers and maybe watch the Ross Kemp programme and see what the forces actually have to put up with.

Ireland,Iraq, Bosnia, Afghanistan ect.

So you all think it is OK for British Soldiers to have placards telling them they should rot in hell and caling them butchers waved at them whilst they parade down their streets in their towns in their country.

Christ maybe I should have stayed abroad.

If anyone thinks that the wars in Iraq or Afghanistan are illegal they should protest against the people who sent the troops there, NOT the soldiers who are doing their duty. Were British soldiers "murderers" or "criminals" when they saved this country from Napoleon and Hitler or when they were helping to rescue Muslims from ethnic cleansing in Bosnia?

These "Islamic" protesters did what they did to get a reaction and that is what they got.

From my point of view, being a Socialist, I am obviously 'anti' this war, HOWEVER, there is a time and a place for anti-war demonstration and at a 'welcome home' parade is not it!! I could not do the job that the Army does. Saying this however, the protesters should not be aiming their disagreement towards the servicemen and women directly but the MoD and government. Soldiers become mere working class pawns in all of this and the government should have been, long before now, held to account for the crimes that they have FORCED these servicemen and women to do!

Had this discussion with friends over email today and the above is what we concluded.

Well timed and organised protest can achieve results and make people notice. I wasn't for the war in Iraq so could see why people would protest.

However directing abuse and demonstrating against returning soldiers on parade is shameful. As TLS and Miserable say these protesters have done it to get a reaction and get noticed - which they have.

The soldiers are caught in the middle as they are only doing their job. Would they really want to go out to places on the chance that they may not come back?

The leader of this group was on GMTV this morning and his arguments got shredded because he just went off on one without knowing all the facts.

Is a sad that these type of people don't realise/comprehend that being British allows them to do this and seem to take it for granted.

The usual racist tw*ts, making the usual racist statments, that are, as usual, ignored by the administrators of this board.

Here's an idea for the people that run this place.......how about you focus your infractions upon people who actually cause offence, such as the racists, rather than people who make silly, irreverant comments. You lot seem more concerned with people who make frivilous comments than those who espouse racism and intolerance.

How about you get a life and don't take to heart what is said on a f**king internet forum

Would you tell a lanlord to bar someone if heard the same comments in a pub?

Why should people NOT take it heart? Are you saying you have different views to the ones you post on here in real life?

I think your posts say all we need to know about you.

How about you stop acting like a retard? Maybe that's unfair as you have provided more than enough evidence to suggest that you really are mentally subnormal.

Can you imagine if a white person was to spout of in such a way outside a Mosque, they would be arrested for inciting racial hatred. How is this not the same, and how do these people feel about Muslims within the armed forces (even though there are few)?

Brilliant use of the straw man argument. And who said racists are thickies with no rhetorical skills?

You didn't answer my question.. Would you tell the landlord to bar someone if they made the same comments as seen on here?

Perhaps he'd walk right up to you and eject you himself. Perhaps if he wasn't hamstrung by being sat the other end of the telecommunications network (therefore relying on a few moderators to act on his behalf) he'd just stroll over and carefully and considerately tell you directly to your face that you're acting like a racist tw**. Perhaps he wouldn't. Perhaps he would tell the landlord. You cannot compare the two situations though.

Pancake has tried to remind everyone the rules on posting racist remarks, and he's given some huge benefits of the doubt here on this thread. Don't f*** me off by perpetuating the disgusting diatribe because I'll happily go back through it and start ignoring the "benefit of the doubt" factor.

So it turns out to be 20 Muslims who responded to a 20,000 letter drop to the Muslim community. Oh yeah, like we should be so f****** worried. If ever there was a storm in a teacup.

So as usual for the Daily Mail reader, several people do something they might be frightened about [because if you aren't, the Daily Mail will make damn sure you are] and all Muslims are condemned. Just where did this beacon of a tolerant society start to go awry..?

What next..? Catholics in NI..?

Its not the 'muslims' that peeps should be worried about. They're fanatical nut cases and you wouldn't expect much else from them.........No, the real problem is the general indifference from a large percentage of the British public....thats the scary part and demonstrates just how down the Sess pit the UK has fallen.....The way serving military personnel get treated over there is nothing short of disgusting....Just listen to some of the sneering lefties on here for an idea.

I'd love to see those same muslims come over here and try and welcome the Louisiana National Guard back from a tour of duty that way....Oh boy, yeah ....Man I'd even buy tickets to see that that !

If wasn't for the police protecting these scumbags they would have had the sh1t kicked out of them. One of them has been outed as a baggage handler at Luton airport. His bosses have told him to take time off work for his own safety. No doubt he'll claim discrimination and the lefties will back him up.

It's funny how a spuds fans were nicked for abusing Sol Campbell at FP (and how much police effort went into arresting them?), yet these people can quite openly incite.

There is nothing wrong with protest, if it is directed at the right people and doesn't incite.

Double standards methinks

Sneering lefties? I wouldn't say I was sneering Saint George. The right are worried because FINALLY people are starting to realise they don't have the answers to get us out of this financial crisis, whereas the left does. But anyway...

The right in the UK LOVE causing a panic to keep everyone in check, and the reporting of this protest is just another example. 20 Islamists, not 200,000, not 20,000 not 2,000, not 200, just TWENTY!

I do not know what number the Islamic population makes up in Britain today, but what I do know is that you can bet your last Lloyds TSB share that 20 people is probably between 0.1-0.5% So, to all you racists and right wing biggots: GET OVER YOURSELVES. Ethnic minorities in this country and good, honest, hard working people and some people in this country need to take off their BNP/Daily Mail/Daily Express/Telegraph/Nick Griffin blinkers and enter the real world.

12 years staying in hotels if you were ever deployed no doubt.

Nice last line by the way. Did you actually see a bullet in your 12 years service? Second thoughts do not bother with an answer as I will not be posting any more replies to a low life like you.

I saw a program on BBC2 recently with Louis Theroux. On that program a bizarre family church / cult was picketing US soldiers funerals with banners such as homo fags get what they deserve.

I didn't see that family getting their just deserts as you've alluded to.

i echo some of stus comments re being spat upon in ni. AS someone who also did 3 tours in NI as a medic i would take casualties to the altnagalvin hosp or musgrave pk hosp as british soldiers medics we were frequently sworn and spat at by catholic medic.s and nurses. while it was the norm on the streets it was something i did not expect to recieve in a hospital. ON a similar note our medics do not discriminate against patients in afghan or iraq. I didnt hear that bunch of muslim fanatics ackowledging that aspect of my collegues in afghan or iraq

He did mention the other day which branch of the RAF he was in. I think it was the catering corps.
