Toadhall Saint Posted 13 March, 2009 Share Posted 13 March, 2009 So you are not prepared to accept the laws of this country ? Not if the law is an arse - with your attitude laws would never get changed.
Whitey Grandad Posted 13 March, 2009 Share Posted 13 March, 2009 People that want to sit down at football games are strange, imo. Wait until you're older, you might feel differently then. All sort of people go to watch football for all sorts of reasons and the world is a better place because of it. Surely we can find room to accommodate everbody (especially at St. Mary's). derry Posted 13 March, 2009 Share Posted 13 March, 2009 Close the areas where there is standing. Eject any areas that stand during the match. The law says all seating, and all seated, the ground would be closed if it's safety certificate was withdrawn. If the Police/Council were doing the job they are paid to do that is precisely what they would do.

I'd of thought any sober judge that heard the line "how do you propose we get to and from our seats without standing?" would abolish it right there and then. You really must be thick if you think it's unsafe to stand and watch a game of football at SMS.
northam soul Posted 13 March, 2009 Share Posted 13 March, 2009 Will everyone please refrain from standing and jumping about when we score and just sit in your seats. Surely its scoring a goal that makes standing dangerous as thats when everyone starts jumping around so i say ban goalscoring at football matches to make it safer. Surely the fact that people have stood in the northam end for the past 5 years without any problems suggests that the law is complete and utter ********. If you closed the northam then every match at st marys would be played in almost complete silence.
derry Posted 13 March, 2009 Share Posted 13 March, 2009 The law is being ignored by everybody who stands, therefore it's been filed by the club/police/council in the too difficult to tackle drawer. Despite the hot air on here, what is obviously needed is the law changed to allow construction of designated safe standing areas, rather than ignore standing in seated areas. That said, I think the law is an ass for allowing itself to be ignored with impunity.

Denzil Posted 14 March, 2009 Share Posted 14 March, 2009 What is with people and standing up? Sat in the itchen, block 4 and people throw there dummy out when they get asked to sit down then hurl a barrage of abuse at the stewards. Happened most of the first half and ****ed me right off Quite Pathetic Go and sit in the chapel you mong.
krissyboy31 Posted 14 March, 2009 Share Posted 14 March, 2009 I have sympathy with the OP in the fact that Block 4 until this season was a pretty much totally seated area. It is not his fault that Rupert decided to close Blocks 1 and 2 and therefore cause the problem in Block 4. Why should anyone be forced out of a section the've been sitting in (may be) since the stadium was built, to accommodate the 'standers?'
hamster Posted 14 March, 2009 Share Posted 14 March, 2009 I maintain that the club should consider giving the away fans Itchan north and make the Northam 100% home. With our current numbers it would give fans pleanty of room to move around and find a favourite seat.
