10/03/09 Officially The End Of Total Football

In a night when Soton Met office registered 58 small white shooting stars in the St Mary's area and Bobby Gould was seen pleasuring himself in the Chapel end, I think we can officially call time on this whole "Total Football" .

Remove all links, all interviews and if anyone ever asks about it deny all knowledge.

To be replaced by total hoofball.

One extreme to the other with us :(

Total Football? Nah, we never had that...it was Total RupeBall...

So, I wonder how many of the positives are left on here? Three good wins and that's it.

Still 2nd from Bottom.

Hey-ho it was fun when it lasted...Walsall here we come I guess :(

Was it me or did we have 7 players 'up front' when we kicked off in the second half....I thought I was watching a rugby kick off for a minute

Indeed. The ball spent more time in the air than Jordans legs.

I was sat in Row W in the Chapel and still ended up with a stiff neck! The result of looking skywards for most of the game. Why was it we played hoofball into Derby defence, when the Derby back 4 were 9 foot tall?

QPR is a must win imo.

What are you lot on about, it was'nt that bad:smt017

I wasn't saying it was awful, just a style of play so far removed from the dross dished out on the OS about "The new revoloution" and "Total football"

With a few limited exceptions, last night was kick and rush, longball football personified and completely at odds with everything we have been led to beleive.

As mentioned previously, if that's how it's got to be to get us out if the poo, then no problem at all....... just no more mentioning it and let us put it to bed forever.

I think it was more that Wotte changed the tactics to better suit the opposition. Derby are one of the form teams and we matched them on the night. Not everything is Rupes fault, don't fall into the numpties trap;)

Could have had something to do with the Derby full backs playing so high up the pitch.

Derby obviously did their homework, and knew we like to play first time balls in from the wings, from James and Skacel, and pushed up on them. We couldn't play through them, and with two men to get around the ball down the wing woudn't have worked either.
