StuRomseySaint Posted 10 March, 2009 Posted 10 March, 2009 Anyone else do this run? I am doing it this year, not sure whether to take it seriously, or run through Portsmouth in full Saints kit, face paints, jester hat and sponge hand... for charidee. Hmmmm
saint_stevo Posted 10 March, 2009 Posted 10 March, 2009 did it last year, knee pending i shall do again this year but if it turns out to be a cruciate injury, probably not. Sweat+face paint=HELL

Dog Posted 10 March, 2009 Posted 10 March, 2009 I came 4th last year, but I cannot take part this year due to other charity events taking place.
saint_stevo Posted 10 March, 2009 Posted 10 March, 2009 I am super-fat, I won't be sweating. ?? 10miles.....no sweat at all? Even teh skinny africans who do it in under 60mins sweat mush
St Landrew Posted 10 March, 2009 Posted 10 March, 2009 I am super-fit, I won't be sweating. Started this thread off quite promisingly. But with that comment, surely you descend into TMS..?
JohnnyFartPants Posted 10 March, 2009 Posted 10 March, 2009 I came 4th last year, but I cannot take part this year due to other charity events taking place. Are you raising money for "leg draggers"?
Redbul Posted 10 March, 2009 Posted 10 March, 2009 Yeah, I'm doing it. It's a good larf. I was going to wear a Saints kit if I could get above, say, £500 in sponsorship money.
Andy_Porter Posted 10 March, 2009 Posted 10 March, 2009 I'm thinking about doing it this year, done a couple of 10k runs now and want to do this next with a bit more training it should be fine. Hopefully i'll manage to convince someone to do it with me.
The Kraken Posted 10 March, 2009 Posted 10 March, 2009 Did it last year, found it pretty dull. Aside from the historic dockyards, Pompey is a featureless sh1thole to have to run through. Poor weather didn't help either.
sambosa75 Posted 10 March, 2009 Posted 10 March, 2009 Is it possible to be sponsored in order to pocket the money yourself once you have completed the race?

Junction 9 Posted 10 March, 2009 Posted 10 March, 2009 Weather for the last 3 has been horrendous. I'll be having a go, I need such events to stir me from my total lethargy.

Hmmmm I have even done this run when it was in it's rightful and spiritual home, good old So'ton. Think it started on the Avenue opposite the white gates (across from Taunton's) Can't remember if it went north or south first though. probably in 1990
hypochondriac Posted 22 March, 2009 Posted 22 March, 2009 Just finished the marwell 10k. Hate the hills
Deppo Posted 22 March, 2009 Posted 22 March, 2009 Just finished the marwell 10k. Hate the hills Still, the lions keep you on your toes.
Smirking_Saint Posted 23 March, 2009 Posted 23 March, 2009 I was well up for this and it was one of my targets for this year but seeing as my knee decided to royally ruin itself again my new targets are trying not to get too fat lol

Scummer Posted 23 March, 2009 Posted 23 March, 2009 I've done it a couple of times, had an email in my inbox this morning inviting me to apply for this year. I think I'll probably do it, it's pretty much at the end of my road and any training I do is along the route they use, so I may as well. Just wish it wasn't so expensive to enter.
Thedelldays Posted 23 March, 2009 Posted 23 March, 2009 i did the plymouth half marathon last year with work....not able to do so this year 13 miles just under 2 hours stu - yes, the happy clappy outfit should be a must
sotonjoe Posted 23 March, 2009 Posted 23 March, 2009 yeh, i'll be doing it. hope the weather isn't as bad as it has been in the past though
