saintwarwick Posted 10 March, 2009 Share Posted 10 March, 2009 Birmingham football clubs...let me see. Aston Villa, doing rather well, West Brom not going quite so well, so two Premiership Clubs. Wolves going quite well with Birmingham, but in the division below and then in the division below again is Walsall. So five clubs in the city to share the local fans, against us as the only club with the Skates of any size down here. I wonder why they have a comparatively smaller average fan attendance? West Brom, Wolves and Walsall are not in Birmingham.

Red N Wight Posted 10 March, 2009 Share Posted 10 March, 2009 If is just 8 fans then will they get an invite to the Director's box to save on stewards around the ground? Fans in the directors box ! Are you insane ?
SaintRobbie Posted 10 March, 2009 Share Posted 10 March, 2009 in a 32,000 seater, presuming a lot of season ticket holders will be reluctant to re-new, shocking to think how far weve fallen We won't if Lowe steps down and leaves. If Lowe goes I think we'll increase those numbers significantly.

Chez Posted 11 March, 2009 Share Posted 11 March, 2009 it would help, but Norwich keep getting around 20k ST sales. Wonder why? cos they sold 17k season tickets at 50p each before churning out bi-weekly ****e for them.
um pahars Posted 11 March, 2009 Share Posted 11 March, 2009 cos they sold 17k season tickets at 50p each before churning out bi-weekly ****e for them. The cheapest normal early bird renewal for Norwich of £366 is on a par with what we paid last season.

Is it a case they havent been spoilt with 27 years in the PL and having the expectations that went with it.

Norwich have had some relative success since the 70's and I reckon they must have had something like 20 years in the top flight since we got relegated in 1974. It is impossible to say one way or the other, but I think that post Chase they have had a Board with whom the supporters have some empathy with and they have engendered a spirit of togetherness. I dont think that any fanbase supports the board, but perhaps there may be a few fans who decide to buy tickets and the strength of who is on the board. Perhaps they feel empathy, but under LC did we feel a surge of that? I suppose the closest we got to that was when a lot of fans got into a froth when MW arrived. There must be other reasons, what they are I dont know, but Ipswich also get a good following as well.It must be the air down there

But it's not just solely about who is on the board, it's more about developing a sense of togetherness and engendering empathy with supporters. Developing a belief that those on charge do care, are doing their best, they do have a plan and being able to create a rallying call that the supporters believe in and are willing to support. In the absence of major success on the pitch, Norwich have certainly managed to get their supporters to respond to their rallying call (I just don't see Lowe/Wilde being able to pull off the same). Amesbury Saint Posted 11 March, 2009 Share Posted 11 March, 2009 whatever the reasons, having 17,000 ST holders already for next season is very good going. At the moment Saints have nil and never going to get 17,000 for next season.
