Saint in Paradise Posted 8 March, 2009 Share Posted 8 March, 2009 I went to a museum on Friday, one farm tractor looked a bit worse for wear so I thought it must be quite old and must have been made in the 1930s. Wrong, it was 2 years younger than me I also saw a couple of tractors which had been built in Southampton before the factory moved to Lincolshire, I never knew tractors were built in Southampton. St Landrew Posted 8 March, 2009 Share Posted 8 March, 2009 At a guess, Aotearoa... Kia Ora, DSM. I know he lives in NZ, and as I know the geography fairly well, having also lived there, I just happened to wonder where the museum was specifically..! Neither did I.Please don't leave us in suspense without telling us the manufacturer. What is the favourite tractror on the forum ? Maybe we could have a poll.(it might even turn out to be a "straw poll"). John Deere gets my vote.
benjii Posted 8 March, 2009 Share Posted 8 March, 2009 My mates who have been to New Zealand all went bungee jumping and white water rafting and stuff like that. How I laughed when they realised they'd overlooked the tractor museum.

Saint in Paradise Posted 8 March, 2009 Author Share Posted 8 March, 2009 The museum was http://www.tawhitimuseum.co.nz/ in the Taranaki region, the name of the tractors maker was Allis-Chalmers a USA company. I suspect they were just assembled rather than built from scratch ?
