stockbridge_saint Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 gutted really, other results went against us as well.
Saints foreva Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 We must get 9 points from the next 3 games. No chance.
saint lard Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 The table isn't going to make pleasant reading tonight. Nevermind,we move on,bring on Derby a must win game. Apparently it was an admirable display, according to Solent.
Saint_clark Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 Results were fairly even really. Norwich and Charlton fell further behind us which is good, but the teams above us are pulling away. Watford is a massive game now.
BotleySaint Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 Rasiak scores for Watford. They win 3-2. Results are going against us. We simply must win the next couple of games or we could be dead and buried in a couple of weeks.
Saint_clark Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 We must get 9 points from the next 3 games. No chance. Why? We got 9 points from the 3 games before today.
buctootim Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 Good display by all accounts, stats pretty even, lost by just one goal away to second best team in CCC. Pretty pleased overall, just made to seem worse by ****ty results going against us. Bodes well for next few weeks, not badly.
SB Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 Norwich Lose(A), Forest Draw (H), Plymouth Draw(H).. Don's bubble burst Lose 3 - 0 Watford win, but couldn't see them going down, if they are safe by the time we play them away from home, then it could be good for us.. Game In Hand(Y)
Nexstar Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 We must get 9 points from the next 3 games. No chance. Something we would have said about the last 3...
Under Weststand Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 Well that was probably an expected result but not a good day as most of the other results went against us.
saint lard Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 We need to win and teams around us to have off days,it just isn't happening. Whatever we do sides around us are equalling it or bettering it.
Stu Man Do Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 Cant say we sounded too "in" that game from Radio Hampshire. No real chances after the first 15 minutes and putting euell in midfield seemed to kill us. Would have brought on Wotton instead of patto and stuck Drew of Morgan in the hole. Aw well didnt expect anything from that game really so onwards to tuesday!

Saf... Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 Yeah...a loss wouldn't have been that bad if the other results went out way - but every single one went against us in some way or another. Charlton losing doesn't matter to us - they won't catch us, Watford beating them is dreadful. Norwich losing is okay, but Blackpool beating them means its harder for us to get out of the bottom three, so a draw there would have been handy. And everyone else picked up points.. oh and we can forget about Doncaster, their results don't affect us at all as they got out of it a long time ago.
CanadaSaint Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 How many people realistically expected us to get anything today? One moment of lost concentration cost us, just before half time, against a stacked club. That's a much different story to earlier in the season. A lot of teams are in this, including Donny, and we have a steel we never had before. We were damn near dead and buried three weeks ago but now I'm very hopeful we can get out of this.
Dalek2003 Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 The key is Blackpool and Barnsley, are they about to nose dive and can we take our chances. If we escape, it is going to be close.
del boy Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 Pretty even game away against one of the probable automatic promotion teams. Would have settled for 3 wins out of last 4 games. =D>

saint lard Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 Barnesly having 2 games in hand over us dosen't make it anymore pleasant to read.
Neil Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 10 wins will definitely keep us up! (although wouldn't want to leave it until Forest game) Bad day at the office, need two home wins now just to keep in touch and then a "must win" at Blackpool.
Nexstar Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 Wotte out. Pathetic. A pretty good performance against arguably the best team in this division. And on the back of 3 straight wins. Wotte out? You must be joking...
um pahars Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 It's not that mental. Barnsley are only 2 points ahead of us and although they have two games in hand, they will have to get something out of them to make it count. We have a game in hand on Forest and are only 4 pts behind them. 5 pts behind Blackpool with a game in hand. Effectively 6 behind Watford, but we do have to play them. 6 points behind Plymouth, but we have a game in hand. A point would have been good, but we now have two winnable home matches, then games against relegation rivals Blackpool (a) Charlton (h) Watford (a) Also noticed some of our relegation rivals are playing each other in coming weeks so some will have to lose (or only pick up the odd point)
sfc6mufc3 Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 Today was always going to be a tough ask - but we and the team must take heart from the last few results - who'd have thought we would have beaten Preston, Cardiff and Ipswich away. Agree the results again were not kind. Hopefully Barnsley's matches will catch up with them a bit.
Griffo Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 Look at the games on Tuesday night, I can say we probably have the easiest game out of all our rivals.
Micky Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 A narrow loss away at Birmingham is hardly the end of the world - if we had been safely mid table, people would have expected that result. It's how we react to this that counts - too many people seem to be focused on the teams around us. Nobody is going to do us any favours - it's up to us to fight our way out. It's still doable and there is still time for the tide to change in our favour. Don't loose the faith just yet.
Robsk II Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 10 away at Birmingham, sounds like we had a go at it, that's football. No despair from me after that one, to be honest.
CanadaSaint Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 Look at the games on Tuesday night, I can say we probably have the easiest game out of all our rivals. Dead right. Tuesday is huge and things could look a lot different come 10:00pm.
Hopkins Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 Anything we would have got today would have been a bonus. Tuesday is and always has been a must win game. Lets not get all depressed about the table and todays result. Concentrate on winning Tuesday and taking things from there.
gjphilsaint Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 now that games is out of the way the next few games are must win and can be won games until possibly wolves in mid april so its hopefully back to recent form...
buctootim Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 Two teams are (almost) dead and buried, leaving four teams to scrap it out with just one going down.
stockbridge_saint Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 How many people realistically expected us to get anything today? we could have got a result. we've always played well against the top teams this season and we've won our last 3 while they've been stuttering a bit.
um pahars Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 Look at the games on Tuesday night, I can say we probably have the easiest game out of all our rivals. Other midweek matches: Norwich v Cardiff (draw at best) Barnsley v Brum (draw at best) Watford v Forest (Want Watford to win I presume) Sheff Utd v Blackpool (no points for the Seasiders surely) Swansea V Plymouth (no points for the Pilgrims) With the exception of Watford v Forest, there's alot of tough matches there, so can't see how teams will pull away midweek.
CanadaSaint Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 Two teams are (almost) dead and buried, leaving four teams to scrap it out with just one going down. I think it will turn out to be more than four of us slugging it out. There are some budding freefalls above us, including Donny I think.
um pahars Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 Two teams are (almost) dead and buried, leaving four teams to scrap it out with just one going down. Surely it has to be one team is dead and buried!!! Norwich are only 1 point behind us (with a better goal difference).
um pahars Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 I think it will turn out to be more than four of us slugging it out. There are some budding freefalls above us, including Donny I think. Not sure about Donny. We'd have to overhaul a 9 point gap in 10 matches and that's some freefall.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 A good effort today but just not enough threat UP front to cause them enough problems. It seemed from Solent commentary we didn`t make best use of our crosses most of them were easily gathered by Taylor. Tough opposition today, very physical and a long ball team. Bring on Derby on Tuesday we must beat them... COYR
corsacar saint Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 Need maximum points from next 2 home games plus at least a point from Blackpool, certainly a big ask.
buctootim Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 Surely it has to be one team is dead and buried!!! Norwich are only 1 point behind us (with a better goal difference). Obviously Charlton are more dead than Norwich, they've got the rigor mortis. Norwich are quite dead though, beyond merely very unwell. Judging by Norwich's recent performances I think its just that no-one has told them.
saint lard Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 (edited) Other midweek matches: Norwich v Cardiff (draw at best) Barnsley v Brum (draw at best) Watford v Forest (Want Watford to win I presume) Sheff Utd v Blackpool (no points for the Seasiders surely) Swansea V Plymouth (no points for the Pilgrims) With the exception of Watford v Forest, there's alot of tough matches there, so can't see how teams will pull away midweek. I honestly think Norwich will win that one, just as much as our recent somewhat surprising 3 wins on the trot prior to today, they will pull something out of the bag. I hope i'm wrong. CanadaSaint Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 Not sure about Donny. We'd have to overhaul a 9 point gap in 10 matches and that's some freefall. They have the Top 4 to play and I think we've only got one game against Top 4 sides.
RoswellSaint Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 Today is not a surprise. Our expectations have been raised by the 3 wins. It is important that we bounce back and pick up a couple of home wins. Will be interesting to hear how the team played from those there. Certainly Brum didn't dominate but didn't sound like we created too many chances. Its going to be tough but we can dig ourselves out.
alpine_saint Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 As a stand-alone result, not bad. A creditable performance In combination with our parlous state and the other results, a disaster.
Window Cleaner Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 Their crowd today - 16,735! the demand for 2nd division football really does seem to be slipping away. Not really surprising though because it costs too much for the UK's battered economy.
RoswellSaint Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 Their crowd today - 16,735! And someone said we had 1500 there. Why was the crowd so low? We would have a lot more than that if we were second in the table.
NickG Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 don't know I thought they would have much bigger crowd
