hypochondriac Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 It reminds me of when i was on holiday and ordered a prawn coctail. When it arrived the prawns were raw. I called the waitress back and quitely said the prawns were raw and she informed me her husband was the chef and was a trained chef and that's how they should be. An argument then followed which was quite embarrassing. She was wrong and i was right, but even if i'd been wrong the customer is always right. I don't even mind really about the server but the attitude of the admin on this forum stinks and it gets people's backs up.
Mole Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 If previous experience and replies to old PMs is anything to go by then I doubt that very much. The server issues would be a lot easier to deal with if it didn't feel like users were being dismissed all the time and talked to. Also threads locked/deleted that mention problems with the forums speed. I don't get that.
Baj Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 Wow, some of the misguided and ill informed comments on this thread are unbelievable, but two of my favourites are hypos "it never used to crash before", which honestly beggars belief!!!!!!!!!! and my attitude towards hypo, who launched a completely uncalled for rude personal abuse in the open on me before. We are trying all we can, end of. If you are that ****ed off that all you can do is abuse me, stop using the forum. We will continue to improve things. thanks

Sorry Stanley it is too late at night - we have been debating this now for some time and you have managed to go from bandwidth to prawns - bandwidth I know a bit about, prawns naff all. Certainly I can see your 'customer analogy', but I really don't want to continually go over old ground. As far as I am concerned (free or 5 poxy quid) I am more than happy with the level of service on this site and the efforts to improve that service.
Mole Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 I don't even mind really about the server but the attitude of the admin on this forum stinks and it gets people's backs up. I must admit i find it a bit strange how ratty some mods get about these things. I must also admit that when they do get ratty it's quite funny.

Baj Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 Btw stanley, you can eat prawns raw, in fact its the best way to eat them. The chef was right, you were wrong.
hypochondriac Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 Here is my issue just in case I didn't make myself clear. You pay money for a service which was originally free with assurances that the experience would be improved. Almost a year gone and the situation shows little sign of improving. Fair enough I think but to then come on here and be aggressive and rude to the people who have paid the money when they dare to complain when it seems like not a lot has improved is unfair IMO. I mean do the admin want people to renew or not?
Mole Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 Btw stanley, you can eat prawns raw, in fact its the best way to eat them. The chef was right, you were wrong. No way. That is sushi, not a prawn coctail. A prawn coctail is prawns (cooked, peeled and chilled) usually on a bed of lettuce, with marie rose sauce. Served with brown bread. Raw prawns are not part of a prawn coctail.

And I wasn't talking about TSW, I was talking about S4E quite a while back which had little problems as far as I can remember. Just remember that a little bit of courtesy to your customers goes a long way.

Ludwig Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 TBF, who wouldn't be c*ntish towards Stanley when presented with such an opportunity?
hypochondriac Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 Anyway Baj I won't go on about it anymore I'll just reply if people make any comments on what I've written. As Stanley says you are probably frustrated today but maybe let Granty deal with customer relations from now on . Feel free to discuss any issue with me via PM.
Mole Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 TBF' date=' who wouldn't be c*ntish towards Stanley when presented with such an opportunity?[/quote'] Forum rules don't permit me to reply to you as i'd wish so i'll leave it.

A prawn coctail is prawns (cooked, peeled and chilled) usually on a bed of lettuce, with marie rose sauce. Served with brown bread. Raw prawns are not part of a prawn coctail. OR you could have a real Prawn ****tail which is made in St.Lucia.... Raw Prawns that are shelled with jerk sauce and Jamiacan Rum and Pinapple Juice . Served on a bed of Lettuce with Cracked Ice . All a matter of taste and choice really ......a bit like logging on to this site on matchdays. Some like one ****tail others like the other ....its a big world Stanley I feel sure you can see that any of the chefs are trying their best be it with cooked prawns or Raw prawns . But in the end you can only please some of the people most of the time .
Mole Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 Where can I purchase some fresh prawns? I'm not too sure, muddyford quay perhaps.

SB Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 I'm not too sure, muddyford quay perhaps. ThankYou.. I could always send you the recipe for Rose Prince's Prawn Curry with Coconut 'Tea'? If ****tails aren’t for you.. Thats my 3 posts for today, Ah, the life of a non member..
Calvin Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 Why is it not here today you ask, well there's many reasons for that. Poor modding from myself, too small a market when up against a big site like this, and many other reasons. It had three periods and in the end i basically couldn't be arsed with it just like everyone else who'd run it. I was involved at the start then called it a day and then at the end. I challenge anyone to try and do better though against such strong competition and you won't be able to do it. When S4E shut down i even let Baj and co advertise TSF's opening on there which i had no problem with. Baj wouldn't tolerate this sort of thing when the boots on the other foot though, but hey we're all different and speaking personally i never have really given a fook. Poor modding Do you even realise how much it costs to run a site with a big database? Cost a fortune mate. You think it's easy running an internet forum as big as this
Deppo Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 There's nothing that can't be resolved without a well placed ..."cripes".

You think it's easy running an internet forum as big as this Running it is the hard part, the technical stuff is the easy part. The cost is not an issue as subs cover that. The issue is where the money was spent it would seem.

I am frustrated about Baj choosing a dodgy server, but you have to think about how many people actually visit this forum on Saints match days. The traffic levels of this site in terms of users is up by a very high percentage. I do admit though that the money was spend quite badly, but at the same time, the site crashes on a rare occasions. The admin team have done a very good job, i just feel baj needs to find a realiable server. BTW. It's just fiver. we waste our money on crap everyday!

You miss the point entirely. £5 is peanuts BUT it was supposed to fix the problems - that was the whole point, or so i thought....
Blanco Saint Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 i think 9.5p per week is good value for money,i have only had a couple of occasions when i have not been able to get on the site.............i think some of you are expecting a little too much for your money. agree - please keep up your efforts.
Micky Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 You miss the point entirely. £5 is peanuts BUT it was supposed to fix the problems - that was the whole point, or so i thought.... Yes it was - and it never - shyte happens - get over it and move on. If you think that the technicalities are easily solved how come your effort is nowhere in sight. You appear to talk a good game Stanley.... or is it a case of 'all the gear and no idea' really... eh..??
St Landrew Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 You miss the point entirely. £5 is peanuts BUT it was supposed to fix the problems - that was the whole point, or so i thought.... That's peculiar. You posted the same message in The Lounge, to which the answer was BANG WRONG. And then you come into the main forum and say exactly the same thing. Do you actually consider any answers that may differ from you own opinions..?
swannymere Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 **** me, there are some ungrateful ****s on here:rolleyes:
Mole Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 A yearly release of the accounts perhaps?!?! Are you being deliberately stupid? Of course a release of accounts isn't needed, but when the current contract for this server expires i'd expect the decision on the provider to be the right decision. I'd have thought that prior to asking for the £5 donations this matter would have been investigated fully and advice sought. There is a poster on this site who knows far more about these things than either Baj or Steve and they should seek his advice imo.

CanadaSaint Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 FFS folks. We win three out of four, look more alive than we've looked for months, and now we start ripping the sh*t out of each other. I know, I know, I don't have to read it, but Jeez. Enough already.

St Landrew Posted 7 March, 2009 Posted 7 March, 2009 tell me why i'm wrong. Perfectly reasonable answers to your question are elsewhere on this site. You have chosen not to take in their message. So I'm not going to waste my time with you.

benjii Posted 8 March, 2009 Posted 8 March, 2009 Can someone please tell me what the maximum permissible thickness of a tuna carpaccio is? Thanks.
AwaySaint1 Posted 8 March, 2009 Posted 8 March, 2009 (edited) Baj,a few tips for you on matchday. Turn off the Arcade. make a robots txt file that bans all bots during games. If you must run a flash chat room then use a different server or it will melt your chips. Also get a programe that will test your server load with multiple connections to twice what you expect on matchday's(dont wait until saturday at 3pm to live test). If you have not already done so go get a decent dedicated server, what are you running the DSX 2000? HTH. Edited 8 March, 2009 by AwaySaint1
um pahars Posted 8 March, 2009 Posted 8 March, 2009 I bought a large Rasberry Stolli last night and it cost me more than the £5 I've chipped in to help this site keep running. Of course it is frustrating when this site goes slow or crashes, but in a way it also shows how much we all want to visit and use this site, which makes the £5 a bargain. I'm sure those that run it are trying to do their best, they obviously want it to be a decent site and as far as I'm aware they aren't getting rich off of our fivers. I think a few collective steps backwards should be taken, a few virtual handshakes adminstered and everyone accept that they are after all trying to do their best.

hypochondriac Posted 8 March, 2009 Posted 8 March, 2009 Why does every still think that this is about the five pound charge?
Rattlehead Posted 8 March, 2009 Posted 8 March, 2009 Apart from the thread being about £5 refunds and the fact most of your posts on this thread are about free v paying, I have no idea hypocritiac.
bigtonesfc Posted 8 March, 2009 Posted 8 March, 2009 Why dont the ones moaning about their £5 matchday entertainment being spoilt try actually going to the real game??Bickering cos you cant sit on your arse,in complete comfort, getting all the up to date news when it happens!Go to games, and watch it live, without it freezing, losing connection, etc.Maybe then, you will appreciate it a tad more,as the rest of us suffer for a modest £28 a game!!
