JohnnyFartPants Posted 6 March, 2009 Share Posted 6 March, 2009 That's Bundy isn't it? Not a bad choice but he didn't have the mystery surrounding him of say your Shipman, Sutcliffe or West. Purely based on him being the first I read about and opening my mind up to the option of killing for fun, it has to be Sutcliffe.

JohnnyFartPants Posted 6 March, 2009 Share Posted 6 March, 2009 Ted killed hundreds with a smile on his face. Yes he did, and I love him for that. I just think when following a serial killer you get much more out of it if you follow someone you can relate to. Sutcliffe ticks all these boxes for me. Somebody doing great, great killings but in the USA will never fully capture my admiration in the way Sutcliffe did. It's horses for courses really. I was in Florida when that crazed woman killer killed again not far from our hotel. I never really warmed to her either.

I don't consider AH to be a serial killer, as a proper serial killer goes about his everyday business not expecting to get caught and kills in private. Adolf Hitler didn't exactly hide his alleged crimes.

tpbury Posted 7 December, 2009 Share Posted 7 December, 2009 This thread makes me think of my 'Hypocritical time and geographically based pain inuredness theory' in which we can calculate the quality of a person based on their reaction to the length of time between heinous acts and the glorification of same acts. Glad nobody's mentioned Hindley or Huntley, but that will surely happen, and maybe Sutcliffe 'supporters' will understand that this can't be a laughing matter. Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 7 December, 2009 Share Posted 7 December, 2009 Dennis was a canibal mincer I worked with Des, never Dennis, for two years while he was on his spree, (1979/80). If I were to make an informed comment on his mental state, I would class him as absolutely mad as a box of frogs. He was as normal as anything whilst at work (the Jobcentre in Denmark Street) and I used to spend most lunchtimes with him and others drinking Courage Best just down the road. He never exhibited any outward signs of his...er...proclivities. Classic psychopath? Almost certainly.
