Showing more fight now than he ever did for us..

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1159456/Eyal-Berkovic-admits-assaulting-football-coach-substituted-son-schoolboy-match.html

Former West Ham and Manchester City midfielder Eyal Berkovic was found guilty yesterday in an Israeli court of assaulting the coach of his son's schoolboy team.

The incident happened in November 2007 after a match in which Berkovic's son Lior, then nine, was substituted early in the game by Maccabi Herzliya coach Danny Etzioni

In front of dozens of other parents, former Israel star Berkovic, 36, screamed at Etzioni: 'I'll screw you, I'll see you are finished. I'll come after you for the rest of your career.'

Immediately after the incident Berkovic said: 'Etzioni humiliated my son so I humiliated Etzioni.

Berkovic, who also played for Southampton, Celtic, Blackburn, and Portsmouth until his retirement two years ago, was sentenced to serve 100 hours' community work and ordered to pay Etzioni £400 compensation.

Has everyone forgotten he helped us humiliate Manyoo with 6 goals (and 2 disallowed) ?

Have a bit of respect, FFS. I would love to have him at his peak in our team now..

Good player but sh!tty attitude IMO.

Him and Hassan Kachloul are two ex players of ours i can't stand.

I'm sure I'll get slated by people with loving memories of Kachloul but all I remember of him was the horrific dive in the penalty box at the Dell with no-one even close to him...

Whereas I remember him for scoring 2 of our 3 goals in The Greatest Game Of All Time TM.

His atitude was one of the reasons he was shipped out.

I was doing an interview with the manager and woggy taylor during the summer when Berk turned up at the club with his two hench men wearing dark glasses. the three of them just barged into the interview demandin woggy went an got his boots he had left at the club. He had left the club some time previously. What an absolute C*** . I won't repeat what the others said apart from woggy telling them they would have to wait.

Without him we would have been relegated for certain. We would never have had the Strachan years, cup final, Europe, SMS (mixed blessing).

He may be a prize-**** but to slag his contribution to Saints is retarded.

When he left us, didn't he say that he wanted to leave for a bigger club....

....and then joined West Ham?

Not quite true. He was on loan to us and would probably have signed permenantly had Souness not resigned. He went back to Haifa believing that Souness would take him to Torino. That fell through and he signed for West Ham.

Thanks for the clarification. Perhaps I was thinking of Hassan Kachloul?

No, it was him:

But Berkovic said: "Every player is ambitious and wants a very big club. I'm happy at West Ham and moved there because they are bigger than Southampton, but there are five or six in England still bigger.

"You never know, but if I play well for the next two to three years I might get the chance to go to an even bigger club." (October 1997)

I get confused sometimes (apparently). So many players have left us for a 'bigger club'.

They do all say that though, whoever they are. We've had players sign because we are a "massive club". It's usual speil.

Remember Lowe took over that closed season and Souness and McMenemy, I believe, had offered him a contract but Souness and LMc both walked and for whatever reason Berkovic didn't sign. Maybe, like Souness, he took one look at Lowe and thought "I'm off!"

.

Are you sure you're not getting him confused with Matthew LeTissier?

Mind you, I suppose they do both have big noses.

The Tel Aviv derby between Hapoel and Maccabi was abandoned at half-time after a fan attacked a player who was then sent off for retaliating.

In events described as "shameful" by Israel's sports minister, Maccabi midfielder Eran Zahavi was confronted by a bare-chested fan on the pitch.

Slaps and kicks were exchanged before the fan was led away by security.

Zahavi was then dismissed, prompting further pitch invasions before Monday's match was abandoned.

Hapoel manager Eyal Berkovic, who played for Southampton, West Ham, Celtic, Blackburn, Manchester City and Portsmouth, said: "This was not a game of football, it was war.

"I'm stunned and ashamed to be involved in football on a day like today.

"Both clubs and both sets of supporters must be severely punished for what happened here."
