hamster Posted 12 March, 2009 Share Posted 12 March, 2009 Are we allowing girls? Should we have ball boys in the stands or will it be a case of whoever kicked it fetches it? And can I be West Germany please? Good idea re rating orselves. I am a middle aged out of shape midfielder, not very quick either.

philly Posted 12 March, 2009 Share Posted 12 March, 2009 Just throwing my name in the mix (realise i'm not a regular poster - well, not a poster at all really, just an avid reader daily at work), have played twice for footballaid at St Mary's but couldn't this year so would definately be up for this if you need more numbers. Wouldn't want to take the place of a regular member, but if you need more numbers count me in. Could also bring a long a large group of fans for the game who'd be happy to pay to watch (more money for the club).

stevegrant Posted 13 March, 2009 Share Posted 13 March, 2009 I guess the key bit of information will be the price - this hasn't been *totally* sorted yet, as we're awaiting a total for an extra that they offer which is the filming and production of a DVD of the game. However, I think I'm fairly safe in saying that it will be somewhere in the region of £200 for the full 90 minutes and £100 for 45.

stevegrant Posted 13 March, 2009 Share Posted 13 March, 2009 It will be a weekday evening - not 100% sure of which evenings are still available, I will sort that on Monday. Basically, rather than take ages to come to a decision by having a poll of when people would prefer it, I'm going to take an executive decision and pick a date where there's nothing of any note going on (e.g. I think the Champions League final is on during the window available, so I'll avoid that, etc). I see no reason why under-18s won't be able to play, but I'll also confirm that on Monday. Unless we seriously get absolutely loads of people with firm interest registering, it'll be one game only. Fine if you work and live in Southampton - some of work hours away and in industries that need to have notice for time off. Its also holiday season and will be season ticket renewal time. So for some of the people playing or wanting to play (not me) - they may need as much time as possible to pay the money. Hence the need to get it up and running...... thats my reasons for trying to stick the rocket up the preverbrial... Im defo up for 45 mins and I would suggest that there will be more than enough people to fill a match with 1 half each. If everyone has got the choice of going for the full 90 mins then Im guessing they could fill up before many others get a chance to have there go. Ive also got a mate down this way who would be up for it if we need the extra numbers but I wont give him the nod unless we dont get enough from on here. Perhaps arranging the filming of the event should take a back seat until we have actually got something concrete that says this is going to happen? If you were running a business in financial trouble and someone phoned you wanting to spend upwards of £4,000 with the added bonus of some great PR on your most popular yet critical fans forum, would you not try to seal the deal ASAP and get that money in the bank. Fort what it's worth I happen to know that one of the T&C's is a 35% deposit (£1,400 minimum), that's like selling out a corporate box just by sitting down and opening the talks and taking the deposit. They could and should have given someone a bit of overtime to sort this. In my opinion the boys are being played. Sorry to say it, but I think Rupert is involved. It fits doesn't it? Fix the date with the club - ask for defo with the deposit - job done. Yet again I will point out that the thread has been running since the 6 of March - Monday will be the 16th - and we are for some reason no nearer getting the game on - we will wait and see what Monday brings - hope springs eternal..... but honestly as too the comment about RL - he's a business man - they don't give a **** if they have to shake hands with the devil as long as the deal gets done - there are very few ethics in Business and even less in a football based business! He's said he'll hear on Monday. Let's wait and see eh? I did n't say he had done anything wrong, just that the communication had n't been great - You can find all the excuses you want - I would just like us to be further down the road than we are! If a fuller explanation had been offered to what was happening, or if there was a sticking point and we knew what it was maybe collectively we could sort it out. I've put in the offer to help and its fallen on deaf ears. Steve wanted to own this baby so there you go. Constructive critism or suggestions should n't be taken personally. But as I have said if you don't communicate you can't overcome little pitfuls. For what its worth I just thought this was a great opportunity for us to get together and have some fun - I want it to happen for all the right reason and as I have already stated I apologise to Steve and Baj if they have taken any offence from my posts. ...... I dont know how many of us are ready to stick £1600 on a credit card just to book a date and hope that the forum members will all be able to make it and therefor cover that money but I know I am no-where near being able to do that. To be quite honest I don't really give a **** how you feel I am starting to come across - kid like or otherwise. If people cant take constructive critism then they should nt stick themselves up to get shot.- All i've pointed out is that I was willing to help - we want to get this game on! **** me Anneka Rice build Hospitals in third world countries in 48hrs - even Alan Titchmarsh can turn round a garden in three days and it has taken us ten days to organise a kick about when the Pitch, Dressing Rooms and Officials are being provided? With regard to the club - they do nothing ever to enhance my opinion that anyone working there or doing anything for it knows where their arsehole is so as for slating it ..... well that will probably stop when they actually get something right. Their track record stinks. Im eager for the game to go ahead -and have stuck a few posts up which probably rattled a few people. - but I have been sincere in my offer and my apology. But If people are too pigheaded or rude or stubborn to even acknowledge the offer or the apology by post or pm then I ask you who is indeed actually acting like a Kid. If they were stuck for someone sticking £1600 quid on a credit card to get it booked I am the type of bloke that could have facilitated something like that but hey ho we will just plod along (that would cover all my posts on communication!) Polaroid Saint Posted 17 March, 2009 Share Posted 17 March, 2009 Polaroid Saint has issued a 'come and get me plea' to the Saints fans forum footy match selectors. "It would be a dream for me to play at St.Mary's" said the 32 year old left back. "I am available if they want me. It is my dream" he reiterated. Polaroid Saint has been enjoyed a long and successful career on the left side (although he was sadly looked over when the England national team could have used his left midfield pace). Now in the later stages of his Saturday football career he has dropped to left back and can slot in at centre back if required. Described by previous managers as "having the legs of Inspector Gadget" the well-timed tackle remains the strongest part of his game, although he still has adequate pace and a good eye for the game. Generally a clean player he has been known to use the odd sneaky trip to nullify opponents attacks. "Polaroid Saint loves this club" said his agent "it is his dream". etc.
