Micky Posted 9 March, 2009 Posted 9 March, 2009 Hi, Did my predictions last night and believe it not came up with the same result as you twice, but maybe my heart was ruling my head, I would just be happy to stay up......Big game tomorrow night. If we finish anywhere near 15th Ill eat my hat....
NickG Posted 9 March, 2009 Posted 9 March, 2009 think will try it in few games time -too many combinations!
Rory Posted 9 March, 2009 Posted 9 March, 2009 I have us finishing 22nd, two points behind Blackpool. 23rd Barnsley 24th Charlton Norwich playing Charlton on the last game of the season will decide our fate.
Kaiser Soze Posted 10 March, 2009 Posted 10 March, 2009 I had Blackpool, Norwich & Charlton relegated.
eelpie Posted 10 March, 2009 Posted 10 March, 2009 (edited) I've just done The Predictor and am amazed that we finish in 19th place with 48 points and the same goal difference as we have now -16! Of course the heart rules the head when doing these things, but reassuring is the number of times that lowly clubs play each other. If the lads keep on plugging away and manage not to ship goals, anything is possible. Saints 48 points Barnsley 47 Doncaster 46 Relegated: Notts Forest 46 Norwich 40 Charlton 37 Edited 10 March, 2009 by eelpie

DG Posted 10 March, 2009 Posted 10 March, 2009 21 Barnsley 51 22 Norwich 47 23 Southampton 47 24 Charlton 31

Pancake Posted 10 March, 2009 Author Posted 10 March, 2009 the minimum number of points gained in order to avoid relegation, will be over 50 ! and that`s not only my opinion, its a FACT waiting to happen So it's an opinion then?
saintjay77 Posted 10 March, 2009 Posted 10 March, 2009 do you really think Norwic will only take 4 more points in their nine matches..?? the minimum number of points gained in order to avoid relegation, will be over 50 ! and that`s not only my opinion, its a FACT waiting to happen FACT??? lol its probable but by no means fact but no doubt you will claim you told us all so if it turns out to be right.
Saint_Jonny Posted 10 March, 2009 Posted 10 March, 2009 Seems most people have us finishing on 50-55 points and just staying up, I reckon thats the way it'll be if Wotte can keep the team playing the way they are. Mine is..:
RoswellSaint Posted 10 March, 2009 Posted 10 March, 2009 I have us in 18th, with only 49 points. Blackpool with 47, Norwich 43 and Charlton with 35 are relegated. We lose our last two and survive.
eelpie Posted 10 March, 2009 Posted 10 March, 2009 Doncaster to lose all their remaining games ? They have 46 points already. And Barnsley and Forest? So we are relegated then. I can't see us realistically getting more than 48 or 49 points. But anything IS possible.
ghq Posted 10 March, 2009 Posted 10 March, 2009 It would seem the heart rules the head in the majority of cases. Here's another one. Saints to gain between 14 and 17 pts. Norwich and Blackpool to gain 9 or 10. That's enough for us to stay up. Having arrived at this, I don't really care what the others do, but tell me where I can get on Saints not to finish mid table!
Rod Le Shearer Posted 10 March, 2009 Posted 10 March, 2009 So it's an opinion then? having trouble reading, are we..?? I`ve said its a fact waiting to happen...much like the fact that this day WILL be followed by night ! or would you disagree with that last statement..?
Pancake Posted 10 March, 2009 Author Posted 10 March, 2009 having trouble reading, are we..?? I`ve said its a fact waiting to happen...much like the fact that this day WILL be followed by night ! or would you disagree with that last statement..? So if Norwich, Charlton and Barnsley all fail to pick up more than another 9 points, that means the bottom three would look like this: Barnsley 48pts Norwich 45pts Charlton 36pts Meaning that a team COULD stay up on 49 points, which is NOT "over 50" as you have stated as "FACT" Day following night is a fact, not an opinion or even a "fact waiting to happen". Stick that in your pipe and smoke it.

Stick that in your pipe and smoke it. I didnt say "day following night",my uneducated friend. I said that its a FACT that TODAY is being followed by TONIGHT,and thats a big difference. If you willingly accept that statement as a fact, then you must (in order not to be a self-contradicting tool) also accept my initial statement as fact. if you view the principles in one statement as valid, then you cant just change your mind for the other statement-which consists of exactly the same principles. now is that an opinion,or a fact ?

Granted, night following day is a fact but how is saying a team needs more than 50 points to avoid relegation a fact at this stage of the season? It is your opinion and may turn out to be a fact. I must be uneducated and, maybe, a self-contradicting tool as well.

I must be uneducated and, maybe, a self-contradicting tool as well. no,you are not a tool...just another person who missed the point (which is,for the third time: saying night follows day, isnt the same as what I said-"this day will be followed by this night") said in another way: we cant know if this night will follow this day, still we regard it as fact. hence my statement could also be viewed as a fact, guided by those principles. simple, really !
Plumstead_Saint Posted 10 March, 2009 Posted 10 March, 2009 no,you are not a tool...just another person who missed the point (which is,for the third time: saying night follows day, isnt the same as what I said-"this day will be followed by this night") said in another way: we cant know if this night will follow this day, still we regard it as fact. hence my statement could also be viewed as a fact, guided by those principles. simple, really ! Yes it's all probabilities, but let's face it the odds on night following day are better than those of us staying up - by about 10 decimal places According to Bishop Berkeley there are no such things as facts by your definition anyway. We can only ever know anything by our senses, and they can be demonstrated to be unreliable. Right now, I see us as going down in 22nd place. hope I'm wrong though.
badgerx16 Posted 10 March, 2009 Posted 10 March, 2009 Just done it and had us safe by 3 points after drawing the game at Forest. Not sure how fair I was on Plymouth though
Under Weststand Posted 10 March, 2009 Posted 10 March, 2009 I did it on Sunday had us staying up by a point on 51 with a draw at Forest . Btm 4 being Southampton 51 pts Forest 50 pts Barnsley 49 pts Charlton 41 pts That was with a 1-1 draw predicted against Derby. So hope I'm right for the rest of it but its going to be real squeaky B*M time again folks.
St Marco Posted 11 March, 2009 Posted 11 March, 2009 Just did mine and this is what i got The Forest game and the week before where Forest play Blackpool will seal it i think. But in truth the next 4 games will have decided our fate i think. I just don't know which way the results will go. I think if we fail to win 3 of our next 4 games that will be it.

I said that its a FACT that TODAY is being followed by TONIGHT, Seeing as you have now managed to confuse even yourself on two levels, I'll leave it with you to work out what will happen if the 3 bottom teams end up on 48 points.
Scudamore Posted 11 March, 2009 Posted 11 March, 2009 Well i had yesterday down as a draw and Brum as a loss...and we still stayed up...just... Everything is going to plan...excellent... Now definitely need a win against QPR to stay on track...obviously...
Big Ron fan Posted 11 March, 2009 Posted 11 March, 2009 Had us 21st going into last game, but after losing at Forest and Norwich winning at Charlton, it finished 18 Plymouth 54 19 Forest 53 20 Barnsley 53 21 Norwich 51 22 Blackpool 51 23 Saints 51 24 Charlton 36 However, the Swansea v Cardiff play-off semi-final should be a bit tasty!
offix Posted 11 March, 2009 Posted 11 March, 2009 no matter how I play with it, I can only see relegation for us :-(
gjphilsaint Posted 11 March, 2009 Posted 11 March, 2009 21st saints...............49 22nd barnsley..........47 23rd forest .............44 24th charlton ..........39 I have us down beating palace, burnley & forest drawing with QPR & Charlton losing to Blackpool, watford, wolves, sheff weds last day job needing an away win at forest with any 2 from 3 of Saints, barnsley and forest to go down with charlton. saints win at forest 2-1 and barnsley lose 2-0 at Plymouth
Rod Le Shearer Posted 12 March, 2009 Posted 12 March, 2009 Seeing as you have now managed to confuse even yourself on two levels, I'll leave it with you to work out what will happen if the 3 bottom teams end up on 48 points. those two lines you have quoted are not confusing at all, they are perfectly in alignment with each other. how can anyone be confused by two identical statements ?? and in regards to your scenario: nothing happens that harms my statement, which we have agreed meets the requirements of a fact. just as you agree that its a well known fact that future nights will follow present days(*1), you surely must agree that sometime (eventually) night wont follow day. ergo: the statement you have recognized as a fact(*1),can in fact change whenever..just like my initial FACTUAL statement mmmmmmm...
RoswellSaint Posted 12 March, 2009 Posted 12 March, 2009 Seeing as you have now managed to confuse even yourself on two levels, I'll leave it with you to work out what will happen if the 3 bottom teams end up on 48 points. I think that he is saying that if a team survives with 49 points, night will not follow day and the world will end.
