Always interesting (I think) to read the views of other fans whenever we play them - win, lose or draw. I have read a lot of praise from the Ipswich fans following last night's superb win and - just as importantly - our superb performance. Thought you might like to read a small sample:

Sorry ,but i enjoyed tonights game

to see such a young side as Southampton pass the ball so well and be so full of running for each other, well it was worth going to see. As for Town it showed what the team really are ,which is a bunch of third rate players ,gathered at huge expense...

In a strange way I enjoyed watching Southapton play it reminded me of how we used to get the ball down and pass.

Not like the others

I'm not going to criticise and moan about how bad our display was this evening but just to say how well Saints had played. We were 2nd best all over the park winning none of the 2nd phase balls. Early Bird, I don't think so and to make matters even worse the Scum win at QPR. Enough said GOODNIGHT.

Well that was sh**

I didn't think it could get any worse than the Blackpool game a few weeks back but that was truly shocking.

It could have been 6 or 7 Nil.

Oh dear.

My take on last night

Quite frankly I was bit aghast at that. I could not believe what I was seeing.

It could be argued that the first goal was scored from a free kick that should not have been awarded, but that would be churlish, Southampton were creating chances all night and deserved at least one goal. Southampton defended well and passed the ball and moved better than us. In short given the way we played, they fully deserved their win.

I am trying to think where it went wrong, actually where to start is more the point...

Trying to find a positive from that

but failing miserably. I have been very much in favour of keeping Jim to the end of the season, but the nature of that defeat has made me reconsider.

We were out-thought and out-manouvered last night by a game plan which sought out our weaknesses ( an inexperienced centre back, lack of creativity when faced with solid defences) and a team who were totally focused on the job in hand and their individual roles in delivering at least a point...

well i knew Southampton

had a bit of form but they blew us away ,i had a feeling if they played well and we poor we would get dicked and it was the outcome. They were a lot better than us today,They have had two different managers and to be honest both better than what we have.

They have young players in there side who are hungry and play good football...

Well done Southampton

Fantastic performance. They totally deserved it. It was clear who wanted it more tonight and they were better in every department...

completely agree, give credit where it is due

whatever our misgivings, southampton were much the better side i cant see why they had two goals ruled out, we could have been beaten 5-0.

surely you know by following ipswich over the years that nothing runs smoothly

we may bounce back

Interesting that they are praising our 'young team' when we now think we've got a better balance with the older players getting more of a look in. Different perspective I guess

I like how they refer to Naarwich as the scum.

I work in Pompey and have a colleague who supports Naarwich and one who supports Ipswich. There's plenty of scum taunts flying around here today!!

I always felt we would never beat Ipswich with Burley in charge - his team and all that - glad to see that's all changed.

Should be a sticky :D

Reading those comments, my laptop is sticky ... :o

Fair play, great reading, sounds like we are playing with real confidence and skill and sounds like a very different team to the one a month ago ...

excellent!

Like we didn't beat them 1-0 in February 2007 when Saganowski scored?!!??

The other interesting point about trawling the Ipswich fan sites, apart from the plaudits for the Saints, is the similarity of the criticisms of Manager/Board/Players that were being expressed by Saints fans until this recent upsurge in form.

There doesnt seem to be the 'hatred' of the Chairman, at the moment, but that may come.

Interestingly one poster queried the attendance. He felt it at least 4k short of the official 20,000. Seems this massaging of crowd figures happens elsewhere too.

There are also dire warnings about the season ticket uptake next season at Ipswich.

Meanwhile I bask in the glory of an unexpected run of wins and complimentary comments from opposing supporters.

Fingers crossed for a repeat at St Andrews on Saturday and next week at St Marys

What a shame the supporters views on the make up of the team were not taken into account earlier in the season!!

Please no. Don't let us get complacent. We have an uphill battle only just started.

And let's hope Sky keep away from our games too.

I don't care if we win dirty boring football to stay up but its nice to see others still seeing that we continue to play quality passing and moving football with young players - but with more success with a confident manager

What a nice bunch of fans they are. I don't know what it is about that part of the country but everytime I have met Ipswich/Naaarch fans, they have been great to talk to before/after the game.

Nice to hear all these nice things about our football from a team we've just beaten rather than the usual paudits from a team who've just stuffed us, but still thought we were the best team they've played this season :p

I gotta cut back on the beer on a Tuesday night.

All a bit odd getting home after a txt saying we'd won 3-0 and I thought I'd woken up sober, but can't be otherwise this would be a true thread and they really said those things about us!
