BARCELONASAINT Posted 2 March, 2009 Posted 2 March, 2009 Believe he currently plies his trade with division one side in France. He is primarily a left/centre back but can play defensive midfield. He has just arrived in Southampton from France!!!! Is the loan window open again or about to open??
Scummer Posted 2 March, 2009 Posted 2 March, 2009 Loan window is open but only for UK transfers as far as I'm aware.

SNOWY Posted 2 March, 2009 Posted 2 March, 2009 If his current club were to release him from his contract he would be a "fee agent" and would be able to sign. He was decent if I remember him correctly. Lets hope.

NickG Posted 2 March, 2009 Posted 2 March, 2009 Just arrived from France and is NOT in transit!! wasn't it Terry Hurlock who arrived at the club in a van?

NickG Posted 2 March, 2009 Posted 2 March, 2009 sorry to go off on tangent, back to bocanegra - is he any good?
Pancake Posted 2 March, 2009 Posted 2 March, 2009 Saints to sign the current USA Captain? Im not buying it.

buctootim Posted 2 March, 2009 Posted 2 March, 2009 Ive flown into Southampton Airport several times. I must be a team regular.
Saint Martini Posted 2 March, 2009 Posted 2 March, 2009 He's a regular in the Rennes side, the chans of him leaving the current number 6 in the French Ligue 1 to play relegation football for a English CCC team in financial trouble is next to nothing. If he did come to Southampton it must have been for different reasons.
hamster Posted 2 March, 2009 Posted 2 March, 2009 Ive flown into Southampton Airport several times. I must be a team regular. I have been in the back of many vans, also, I am willing to play in any position. Back to this Carlos bloke, I don't think the girly fans would like him coming to us, far too puygly imo click below to see what an out of shape lump he is:
krissyboy31 Posted 2 March, 2009 Posted 2 March, 2009 Saints to sign the current USA Captain? Im not buying it. You can't because it's outside the window but you can "loan it."

You seem to spend an unhealthy amount of time at Southampton Airport lying in wait for future SFC employees....!
Scudamore Posted 2 March, 2009 Posted 2 March, 2009 You seem to spend an unhealthy amount of time at Southampton Airport lying in wait for future SFC employees....! Jealous?
Foxstone Posted 2 March, 2009 Posted 2 March, 2009 Very decent defender who had a penchant for scoring goals from corners ( in the right net before some clever **** interjects ). Fulham supporting work colleague of mine liked him when he played by them and Only released by Fulham less than one year ago - So not on a large downward curver perhaps. Good acquisition if true.

ozzmeister Posted 2 March, 2009 Posted 2 March, 2009 So he can play left back and unlikely to be cheap. Does that mean Rudi is off or are we bringing this guy in (USA captain, french first division) as cover?????
SimonRichards Posted 2 March, 2009 Posted 2 March, 2009 Maybe there is another south coast he may be loaned to.

There must be some other reason for him being in town (or at the airport)
Pancake Posted 2 March, 2009 Posted 2 March, 2009 "might be a good signing" etc? seriously? Errrr, cant see any post saying anything like that to be honest mate.
CB Fry Posted 2 March, 2009 Posted 2 March, 2009 Errrr, cant see any post saying anything like that to be honest mate. What, apart from these? If his current club were to release him from his contract he would be a "fee agent" and would be able to sign. He was decent if I remember him correctly. Lets hope. He was good. Surprised Fulham let him go. Certainly good at this level. Can't he play anywhere across the back 4? Would be a superb addition if true. Seems unlikely. High earner, no european loans/transfers. Only happen if he's been released and without a club. hcdajfu Very decent defender who had a penchant for scoring goals from corners ( in the right net before some clever **** interjects ). alki_in_korea Posted 2 March, 2009 Posted 2 March, 2009 more chance of a Gary monk return than him signing
Pancake Posted 2 March, 2009 Posted 2 March, 2009 What, apart from these? Well done, you pulled up quotes where people are saying (and I'll play the paraphrase card) "good signing if true"; not the more "Saints-fans-above-their-station" making remark "might be a good signing if true" that Adrians used. One small word, a hell of a lot of difference in attitude behind the post, Im sure you would agree.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 2 March, 2009 Posted 2 March, 2009 more chance of a Gary monk return than him signing you ITK?
alki_in_korea Posted 2 March, 2009 Posted 2 March, 2009 you ITK? i know that if we sign the likes of Monk we r proper in the ****.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 2 March, 2009 Posted 2 March, 2009 i know that if we sign the likes of Monk we r proper in the ****. Monk is top quality!
Windmill Arm 2 Posted 2 March, 2009 Posted 2 March, 2009 Monk is top quality! Monk rhymes with Spunk, and if we sign Bocanegra I'll eat mine.
Saint Martini Posted 2 March, 2009 Posted 2 March, 2009 Well done, you pulled up quotes where people are saying (and I'll play the paraphrase card) "good signing if true"; not the more "Saints-fans-above-their-station" making remark "might be a good signing if true" that Adrians used. One small word, a hell of a lot of difference in attitude behind the post, Im sure you would agree. But Adrians wasn't commenting on those people thinking it was realistic. He simply said that they wre misjudging the qualities of Bocanegra by saying that he wouldn't just be a decent but a brilliant signing. Besides that he made it clear that he thought the likeliness of this transfer was next to nothing. He did not however say (or imply) that al those people saying he would be a decent signing if true thought the transfer was likely to go through.
hamster Posted 2 March, 2009 Posted 2 March, 2009 Monk rhymes with Spunk, and if we sign Bocanegra I'll eat mine. So will I wa2
Jimmy Gabriel's Halo Posted 2 March, 2009 Posted 2 March, 2009 Do the Skates have an airport...........it's probably them he's come to see.
team-saint Posted 2 March, 2009 Posted 2 March, 2009 Do the Skates have an airport...........it's probably them he's come to see. lol quite true i think most of the skate players came inside the containers when arry was manager, maybe they fly now?
CB Fry Posted 2 March, 2009 Posted 2 March, 2009 Well done, you pulled up quotes where people are saying (and I'll play the paraphrase card) "good signing if true"; not the more "Saints-fans-above-their-station" making remark "might be a good signing if true" that Adrians used. One small word, a hell of a lot of difference in attitude behind the post, Im sure you would agree. How many layers of assumption are you going to put into your assessment of some one else's post? He would be a brilliant signing, and he isn't going to sign for us. The end.
saintwarwick Posted 2 March, 2009 Posted 2 March, 2009 So he can play left back and unlikely to be cheap. Does that mean Rudi is off or are we bringing this guy in (USA captain, french first division) as cover????? He can also play centre back and defensive midfield not that we are likely to sign him though.
TijuanaTim Posted 2 March, 2009 Posted 2 March, 2009 Can't see 'Boca' joining us for a second, but would love it if he did. He is a massive fan favourite in the US. No nonsense player he grew up round here, some of you that know Saints fan Gerry H here in So Cal, well Gerry knows Boca pretty well and won't have a bad word said about him. Top bloke apparently. He would have been a typical 'successful' Saints signing a few years ago.
saintwarwick Posted 2 March, 2009 Posted 2 March, 2009 Do the Skates have an airport...........it's probably them he's come to see. There's no loan window for premiership clubs.
VectisSaint Posted 2 March, 2009 Posted 2 March, 2009 Maybe he's planning to buy us rather than play for us Seriously though, although he would be a welcome addition, it seems to me that we do have a good settled back 4 at the moment, which in my view is very important.
AlfredKo Posted 3 March, 2009 Posted 3 March, 2009 Believe he currently plies his trade with division one side in France. He is primarily a left/centre back but can play defensive midfield. He has just arrived in Southampton from France!!!! Is the loan window open again or about to open?? Do you have any ideas about the French Ligue 1 at all??! Carlos Bocanegra is the starting left back for French Ligue 1 side Rennes alongside Swedish international Hansson. Bocanegra has just played against defending champions Lyon last Sunday. Then how can he has a chance to join us??! If you say Lungberg, Mcbride, Anders Svensson or Erik Edman joining then you have a chance. Wait, have we got a chance to loan Erik Edman from Wigan? He never play a game for them. If this dream comes true, then we can push Skacel forward and play Surman in the hole or right midfield which is absolute unstoppable for most of the teams in this division.
Saint_clark Posted 3 March, 2009 Posted 3 March, 2009 Would be an awesome signing but it won't happen.
brightspark Posted 3 March, 2009 Posted 3 March, 2009 Southampton isn't too far away from London, likely the flight was an el-cheapo, and he has nipped up on the train or something to his old hunting ground to meet up with some mates. We don't need any new signings ATM anyway, the team is beginning to gel, starting to win, it could just save us.
