Rupert Lowe - The most hated chairman ever

Mole

Recommended Posts

Absolutely right !

He made Rupert look highly competent and popular.

Additionally what about those idiots from Brighton who flogged the ground without lining up a replacement.

I was a student in Norwich for a few years when the anti Chase feeling was running high and I'd say the feelings against Lowe is about the same as the feelings were against Chase.

Its all relative I know, but if you ask my Dad who is an NCFC season ticket holder he would string Chase up every time before any other chairman.

If your Dad has a NCFC ST I guess he's a big fan? Would that not mean that he probably would get heated up over NCFC matters way more than SFC? When Chase was getting (rightly) hounded I had sympathy but was pretty phlegmatic about the whole affair.

Moving back to the ball and chain currently ensconced in our boardroom, Lowe's latest experiment may send us down a 2nd time (would that make him the worst chairman in Saints history?) and although I don't hate the man I can't believe he's been allowed to get away with it for so long.

On grounds of competence he should never have been allowed back.

That guy - Bellotti was it - at Brighton who sold the Goldstone to Sainsburys & f00ked off with all their money - he wasn't very popular

Archer was the chairman (and someone else I think), Bellotti was merely the paid Chief Exec. Still, neither of them were popular!

Without question yes, just as much as we get heated up over Saints issues and not care a flying fig about NCFC's matters.

He knows nothing little about Lowe other than what I tell him and indeed puts down the main cause of our demise at Redknapps door ( which is fair IMO as he did just as much to see us relegated from the Prem).

As I say its all relative to your own particular cause.

How many non-Saints fans know Rupert Lowe is chairman, let alone have an opinion on him? Who is chairman of Ipswich, Nottm Forest or Charlton?

Exactly nobody knows the chairmen of those clubs because they haven't got the egomaniacs we have.

Out of my mates they support Arsenal, Spurs, Man U & Brighton they are all aware of Lowe and his antics. At work talking to clients about football, when I say who I support most mention something about Lowe, they might not remember his name but they all know we are run by a nutter.

I am not exaggerating but most proper football fans know of Lowe. Just like the football fans on here have managed to mention mad chairmen from other clubs, some going back a good few years, the football fraternity know.

almost right !

it was his son,Uday Hussein, who was Minister of sports-and thus effectively acting as a Director of Football in Iraq.

after they lost,he was known to lock the team up in a dark prison cells, and sometimes performed "light" torture on the poor souls...

Makes Lowe seem like a real SAINT :D

It was on their poor soles, on occassions he battered the soles of their feet when they lost.

Ken Richardson at Doncaster couldn't have been too popoular when, after taking his club out of the FL and into the Conference, he torched the mainstand in pursuit of insurance money and left the club homelesss.

But looking at Donny's Phoenix-like recovery i nthe interim, and in a smart new stadium to boot, perhaps he was just 10 years ahead of his time?

The same could be said for David Lloyd at Hull who took both City and Hull FC down the pan but both are doing alright now.

I don't like Lowe but no way is the most hated Chairman ever. I'd say from memory:

- Archer/Bellotti at Brighton, including flogging off the Goldstone. Pure evil.

- Robert Chase at Norwich. Was really hated and allegedly did a runner

- Terry Smith at Chester - a US owner who tried to enforce gridiron tactics and then appointed himself Chairman/Manager

- Gregory/Deacon at the Skates. Venables wasn't Mr Popular with the Blue Few either.

- Richardson at Doncaster a few years before John Ryan took over. Tried to burn down the main stand (allegedly) I seem to recall for the insurance money

- Askham - vile behaviour in the Bowyer affair and useless Chairman who brought us Branfoot and then gave him a new contract.

- Wiseman - not Saints Chair but went one better and let us down at the FA instead. Same Saints offences as above.

To be more than honest, a lot more than what floats around in yours.

Honesty in abundance, modesty in very short supply.

Why don't you prove it by writing something sensible that contains more than a few words on any topic that is being discussed. I'm not in the least concerned about your opinion of me, as I don't have any respect for it. Troll.

As I am not in any way concerned with your opinion of myself (proper grammar there) I do not feel obliged to stroke your flacid member with wit and guile with which you will be able to climax from.

Assured of my complete lack of respect always,

John

Placed on ignore. There is generally nothing of any interest contributed to the forum by this trolling poster and typically he hints that my grammar is poor by using poor grammar in his reply.

Unfortunately as he has been quoted I can see the continuing childish comments of this certain poster. Many of course have placed him on ignore. Everyone enjoys some banter as it's part and parcel of footy but this ongoing and banal diatribe that is trotted out is the most tiresome and anally-retentive text that gets posted on this board. I don't recall ever seeing this poster comment on the topic of the thread but purely antagonising and attempting to get a rise out of fellow posters through abusive, sarcastic and petty name-calling.

This thread comes to mind

You could always report me for something offensive then back down when challenged because it didn't exist? Oh, you have done.

Thanks Greenridge. He's the first and only poster I've ever put on ignore, but as you say, I'm not going to be missing anything of any value or interest.

Really, care to name a few or is it he is one that does not conform to your banter? As for your banal diatribe, try reading some of your fellow posters tiresome and anally-retentive crap that you churn out. I don't recall ever seeing you comment on the topic of the thread but purely point out someone who has actually voiced an opinion against your principles.

I agree that there is a lot of the 'same old' written by the 'same old' and this applies equally to both sides of the coin. I have no problem whatsever with opinion whether I agree with it or not. What I do find frustrating on this board is when, for want of a better word, those with 'extreme' views resort to abusive name-calling, I really don't see the need for it and certainly don't see how it enhances and argument / debate. From the thread I referenced it would appear there is quite a number of posters who also find this approach rather tiresome.

And I think you will find those with "extreme" views come from both camps. Live with it or don't comment, simple really.
