spyinthesky Posted 23 February, 2009 Posted 23 February, 2009 The gentleman intrigues me. His tenure at Southampton Football Club does seem to have caused a number of issues, to put it mildly. I understand he is only a part time Chairman of the Holding Company and has other interests, amongst which are WH Ireland and Lowe Holdings. Does anyone know if he displays the same business techniques to his non footballing interests as he does to Southampton Leisure Holdings? I also understand that Mr Lowe does a good deal of work for charidee with the Princes Trust which should put him in the frame for a gong at some future date.

SaintRobbie Posted 23 February, 2009 Posted 23 February, 2009 You raise some interesting points. The latter one highlights a degree of individual self-interest if true, and I have few doubts it may be. Self interest is not a quality needed of a man who runs a football club. If Lowe was to get an award, he'd probably be aiming for an OBE and not a meagre Bates/LawrieMac MBE just to smugly smile at the statue (erected by Crouch) and Lawrie... I hope he doesnt. It would be an insult to the people of Southampton... worth monitoring The Echo? I do believe awards are given based on a holistic appreciation of the individual's contribution to British Society and not just his charity 'work'.
