Bailey Posted 22 February, 2009 Posted 22 February, 2009 Does anyone know if his contract is up in the summer? Also, what's the latest with his injury? I'm guessing he won't be back until next season at the earliest?
NickG Posted 22 February, 2009 Posted 22 February, 2009 Radio Hampshire spoke to him yesterday and he expects to play this season, recovery is ahead of schedule
alpine_saint Posted 22 February, 2009 Posted 22 February, 2009 Radio Hampshire spoke to him yesterday and he expects to play this season, recovery is ahead of schedule Not ahead of Perry or Size, he doesnt. I would be curious to know when the club will finally admit that Killer is finished.
Thedelldays Posted 22 February, 2009 Posted 22 February, 2009 Not ahead of Perry or Size, he doesnt. what if he shows better form..?
Glasgow_Saint Posted 22 February, 2009 Posted 22 February, 2009 He's just sold his house Nr New Milton and told mate of mine he was looking for property near Southampton which suggests he thinks or wants to stay.
alpine_saint Posted 22 February, 2009 Posted 22 February, 2009 what if he shows better form..? How do you suggest he does that ? You need games to show form Even your new lover Wotte has admitted this week being pretty and sharp in training counts for f**k all..
Glasgow_Saint Posted 22 February, 2009 Posted 22 February, 2009 Not ahead of Perry or Size, he doesnt. I would be curious to know when the club will finally admit that Killer is finished. Have these two impressed you over the radio?

alpine_saint Posted 22 February, 2009 Posted 22 February, 2009 why is he my lover...? just because I am prepared to give him a chance..? jesus alps Sorry mate, but you have been deliberately poking the anthill all week long - you can hardly not expect a bit or ribbing back for it..
Thedelldays Posted 22 February, 2009 Posted 22 February, 2009 Sorry mate, but you have been deliberately poking the anthill all week long - you can hardly not expect a bit or ribbing back for it.. to be fair..im not the one going mental about him people have admitted they want him out regardless of how he does...is that sane thinking..? so far he has a better return of points than pearson..!!!! and yet we have people making stuff up about players hating him and having no respect for him.. should we have NOT WON yesterday you can bet that certain posters would be having a field day today...funny how they are nowhere to be seen which makes them one trick ponies IMO fair play to you, you always put your opinion out there and dont hide...unlike others

Not that it matters, really. I for one dont reckon that managers and players should be too cosy anyway (Steve Wigley and Anders Sevensson's verbal waanking-offs about how the players love him in the Echo comes to mind..)
Thedelldays Posted 22 February, 2009 Posted 22 February, 2009 One question : how do you know this ISNT true ? I dont...but I doubt the person who posted it does either as they have been asked a couple of times to tell us how they know...yet they have ignored the request whilst other who we know have contacts to the team on here have said anything but what this poster claimed..

I for one dont reckon that managers and players should be too cosy anyway (Steve Wigley and Anders Sevensson's verbal waanking-offs about how the players love him in the Echo comes to mind..) to show I am open minded;) I agree with you, couldn't care less if the fans and players think his arrogant etc if he does the job!

I missed this, who has refuted the accusation ?
Thedelldays Posted 22 February, 2009 Posted 22 February, 2009 I missed this, who has refuted the accusation ? weston saints (who is pretty reliable imo) and nickh... um pahars has stated the players are up for it too..
Evil Monkey Posted 22 February, 2009 Posted 22 February, 2009 have these two impressed you over the radio? lol
NickG Posted 22 February, 2009 Posted 22 February, 2009 Saeijs -whilst not saying he likes him, says training and preparation is now hard and intense
alpine_saint Posted 22 February, 2009 Posted 22 February, 2009 weston saints (who is pretty reliable imo) and nickh... um pahars has stated the players are up for it too.. I tend to respect WS's opinions, though I feel he gives Lowe the benefit of the doubt a bit too often. What you have written about UP's comments suggests nothing to me about how they feel about Wotte. I tend to totally disregard nickh's insights as PR bolllocks.
mcjwills Posted 22 February, 2009 Posted 22 February, 2009 He's just sold his house Nr New Milton and told mate of mine he was looking for property near Southampton which suggests he thinks or wants to stay. Probably beacuse its not so far to hobble to the Physio !!!!
RinNY Posted 22 February, 2009 Posted 22 February, 2009 I will say that we finally seem to have a reasonably settled back four that is doing a decent job -- Skacel - Perry - Saeijs - James -- and barring any serious slip in form I hope we can stick with them the rest of the way, no matter what happens with Thomas. There has been far too much chopping and changing in the team, and it's contributed to our poor and inconsistent results, imo.
Weston Saint Posted 22 February, 2009 Posted 22 February, 2009 Just to set the record straight I have not heard any of the players are against Wotte although they say he is a hard task master and that was not in a critical way. I was not at the Sheff Utd game as I had a meeting and dinner appointment but against Swansea and Preston we showed individual and team determination missing previously. As for Thomas, I believe his contract was for 2 years and is up at the end of the season.
Window Cleaner Posted 22 February, 2009 Posted 22 February, 2009 Not ahead of Perry or Size, he doesnt. I would be curious to know when the club will finally admit that Killer is finished. Wayne Thomas plays right back as well doesn't he??
Arizona Posted 22 February, 2009 Posted 22 February, 2009 Wayne Thomas plays right back as well doesn't he?? Yes. Very badly.
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 22 February, 2009 Posted 22 February, 2009 I don't think WT is highly regarded and he will not get his contract renewed. There is a view that if he makes a mistake he soon asks to come off with an injury. In other words not mentally strong. Burley's worst signing imo.

Steven O'Halloran? 1 Year contract extension for Darren Powell?
sidthesquid Posted 22 February, 2009 Posted 22 February, 2009 Marcello Sarmiento? Steven O'Halloran? 1 Year contract extension for Darren Powell? That last one must have been vying with Ali Dia in our long history of crap signings
DT Posted 22 February, 2009 Posted 22 February, 2009 Oh I don't know. I thought he batted pretty well against england the other day. Multi-talented, that one.
pilsburydoughboy Posted 22 February, 2009 Posted 22 February, 2009 Radio Hampshire spoke to him yesterday and he expects to play this season, recovery is ahead of schedule His drinking arm is getting plenty of exercise
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 22 February, 2009 Posted 22 February, 2009 To return to the original question Wayne Thomas signed a 3 year contract in August 2007 (£1.2m) : http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/search/?mode=movenav&page_id=8870 So unless a extension has been signed (of which I'm unaware) he will be on contract with SFC until the end of the 2009/10 season .
pilsburydoughboy Posted 22 February, 2009 Posted 22 February, 2009 Wayne thomas is a liability at the back he can only hoof the ball and that is a stretch of his abilities
thorpie the sinner Posted 22 February, 2009 Posted 22 February, 2009 Think he owes us a good season to be fair!!
Benj540 Posted 22 February, 2009 Posted 22 February, 2009 I always thought Thomas was a good centre back, pretty solid and quite quick. Just prone to the odd mistake and then his confidence gets knocked and it just goes downhill. I wouldn't mind seeing Thomas along side either Perry or Saeijs.
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 22 February, 2009 Posted 22 February, 2009 Marcello Sarmiento? Steven O'Halloran? 1 Year contract extension for Darren Powell? All bad but WT cost us more than £1m. Ouch. My Burnley supporting friend couldn't stop laughing when we signed him.

pilsburydoughboy Posted 22 February, 2009 Posted 22 February, 2009 II has to be right up there with the worst of the worst
Jesus Reigned Posted 22 February, 2009 Posted 22 February, 2009 That last one must have been vying with Ali Dia in our long history of crap signings Marcello Sarmiento? Steven O'Halloran? 1 Year contract extension for Darren Powell? All bad but WT cost us more than £1m. Ouch. My Burnley supporting friend couldn't stop laughing when we signed him. I remember hearing just after we signed him that Dowie at Coventry had a £150,000 bid turned down the week before; I'd say their valuation of him was considerably closer to his true value than ours sadly. All I'd ever known him doing before he signed for us was lamping Viafara and getting red-carded the season before, and I haven't ever seen any similar fight in him playing for us.
Bailey Posted 22 February, 2009 Author Posted 22 February, 2009 I've just had a flashback of his first half performance in pre-season. It was either against Celtic or Stoke. One of the worst 45 minutes I've ever seen from a defender, and I was there for Bennett's debut too!
Thedelldays Posted 22 February, 2009 Posted 22 February, 2009 i remember when we got him....we were desperate for a CB..one of those "burley" moments I think shame he costs so much...lets hope it was not the 1.2m up front and a chunk based on promotion

saint_stevo Posted 22 February, 2009 Posted 22 February, 2009 Thomas was excellent in the cup v Brum Couldnt believe when we paid 1.2m for him, then Burnley went out and replaced him with Clarke Carlisle for 100k ish who is probably a better player!
Arizona Posted 22 February, 2009 Posted 22 February, 2009 I think Thomas like Skacel is a good player, but will always be criticised for the amount of money he cost. £1.2m is double what he is worth, but we've just pretty much matched that for Morgan Schneiderlin, who it has to be said has contributed far less than Thomas did last season.
AndyNorthernSaints Posted 23 February, 2009 Posted 23 February, 2009 Thomas could play right back and give us better height defending set pieces as well as allowing James to play right wing and get forward more with his crossing ability.
The Godfather Posted 23 February, 2009 Posted 23 February, 2009 He will be ideal for us in League One next season.
Torres Posted 23 February, 2009 Posted 23 February, 2009 i remember when we got him....we were desperate for a CB..one of those "burley" moments I think shame he costs so much...lets hope it was not the 1.2m up front and a chunk based on promotion Perhaps certain people on here starting a new thread every 3 hours about us needing a centre back forced his hand?
austsaint Posted 23 February, 2009 Posted 23 February, 2009 If we go down - I don't want to think about it either - WT would be good value as a Div 1 CB, given Size will be gone.
hughieslastminutegoal Posted 23 February, 2009 Posted 23 February, 2009 Saeijs -whilst not saying he likes him, says training and preparation is now hard and intense The question is why wasn't it hard and intense before, and if it wasn't, why didn't Wotte, Hockaday or anyone else get something done about it? It's been bleedin obvious the payers weren't fit enough all season. I don't know, but maybe the training regime getting tougher has something to do with Killer getting involved?
once_bitterne Posted 23 February, 2009 Posted 23 February, 2009 All bad but WT cost us more than £1m. Ouch. My Burnley supporting friend couldn't stop laughing when we signed him. and they replaced Thomas with the far better Clarke Carlisle who cost next to nothing! Burley's worst transfer however was "Pele" - how he had the nerve to call himself that still shocks me.

buctootim Posted 23 February, 2009 Posted 23 February, 2009 Burley's worst transfer however was "Pele" - how he had the nerve to call himself that still shocks me. Au contraire. Never rated him particularly, but we did make a profit when we sold him - which is rarity nowadays.
